The past few months had actor John Abraham shooting back-to-back for two of his action films. But while one sees him play an underworld gangster, the other sees him in a rather suave avatar. Insiders reveal that though both Shootout At Wadala and Race 2 are action films, they will see him in absolutely different looks. "Both the looks are highly stylised and John is pushing the envelope in both, but even then the action that he will be seen doing in the two films is very different from each other," says the insider.
Talking about the actor's action sequences in Race 2, an insider reveals that it will be the first time that John will be seen performing high air -kicks without a harness or cables. "John has a cage fight sequence in the film and the makers flew down two Vietnamese fight trainers and martial arts experts, who specialise in these high-octane raw fights. The training required a lot of throwing around and he ended up being badly bruised. Sometimes, John even had tears in his eyes because it was so strenous, but he continued to push his body," reveals the insider adding that apart from the Vietnamese trainers, John even trained with a few fighters from South Africa. "They are quite huge, so to throw them around and train with them for two months rigorously was not easy at all. Besides, John had so many air-kicks in the film that it needed the special trainers to prepare John for them. To top it all, he's pulling it all off without cables, which is no mean feat," shares the insider, revealing that John's done about 540 air-kicks in the film.
John admits that the film's seen him push the limits physically. Talking about the diet he had followed for the leaner physique, he says, "I reduced my protein and carbohydrate intake. For me, it's not just about going and coming out of gym, but also rearranging my entire routine."
