Aadat Se Majboor

Chapter 5

When Kriya entered her room, she saw Swayam already waiting there. She controlled her blush that still lay on her check. "Hey, what's up?"

"What's up is you've just been here for not even a day and you've already gone on a date! Are you planning on like a different date on each of the 9 days?" Swayam asked, concerned for both Rey and her. He had seen a serious look on Rey's face and on Kriya's face. He didn't want either of them to have heartbreak.

"Relax, he was just showing me out and then we went for dinner. It was a bet, remember?"

"I remember well. But I know that look on your face." She hung her head down.

"Of course you know. You know everything."

"I do. And I also know you'll only get hurt in this relationship. After 9 days, have you thought about what will happen? When you go back to London?"

"I don't know about later. All I know is I'm liking this new feeling." She went and sat down next to him on the bean bag. "You know, this is something I never felt for any other guy. It's just exciting and makes me happy."

He smiled. "I haven't seen you this happy since a long time."

"I know…. Can't you just be happy for me too and not worry?"

He scoffed. "I wish I could Kriya. I'm just looking out for you, you know?"

"I know! I know and I can't thank you enough for that. You've always been there for me. I don't care what happens when I have to leave. I just want you there with me, please?"

He got up. He could understand her. But his habit of looking at the future wouldn't let him support her. At least not right now. "Just be careful. Don't fall too hard that you can't get up again." He started to leave when she grabbed him by slipping her hand in his palm. He turned; she got up to stand in front of him.

"Thank you." She then gave him a tight hug. He let his guard down and looking at her, he gave her a smile. He held her cheeks quickly and said, "Sleep tight."

Kriya sat by the window, just looking out and gazing at the stars while rewinding memories since the time she entered the Navratri celebration yesterday. She smiled at the sweet moments. The best were the moments spent with Rey. She remembered his sweet gesture to save her from embarrassment when her dori had loosened up. And then him sweetly helping her out. Their little sweet fights they had as well.

On the other hand, Rey was having the same thoughts. Something about her kept on pulling him to her like a magnet. Her crazy tactics, her determination to do everything with complete enthusiasm, all the things he learned about her throughout the day; everything appealed to him. In his heart, he knew this was something different than his usual's. Thinking about her, he fell asleep.

Next morning, Swayam called Rey over to college to have a talk with him while they played basketball. "Rey… don't take me wrong but what are you doing?"

"I'm playing basketball…" Rey replied, not sure what Swayam was talking about.

Swayam snatched the ball from him while replying, "Not this you idiot. I'm talking about you and Kriya. You're falling for her!"

"Is that a crime? Last I checked, she was single."

"And also here for only nine days!" he exclaimed, not understanding why neither of them were understanding the fact that they would be sharing a long-distance relationship, which wouldn't work out. Their paths were just meant to cross across. Not meet! He wondered if there was a way to drill the fact into each of their heads.

"I know." Was all Rey said. Swayam shook his head, frustrated.

While walking back to their car an hour later, Swayam continued the conversation. "When you know, why are you doing this? I don't want you to have heartbreak."

"Don't worry. Remember, I'm the one who breaks heart. And if you're worried about her, know that I would never do anything to hurt her. You're just worrying for no reason."

He sat in his car and drove away. Swayam stood there, wondering if he was doing right by trying to make them understand. He only wanted both of his best friends to be well and not in any kind of complicated situation. And if they continued to fall for each other, there was no denying that things would get very complicated.

The next four days passed by before they knew it. They would wake up early, tour the city with all of them, spend the whole day together, got to know each other so well that Kriya didn't feel like she just met them. It was as if they knew each other since forever. Rey and Kriya grew on more to caring for each other than before. Swayam let that be, knowing he had done his best to warn them. It was his job to and he had. Now the only thing he could do was be happy for both of them.

The day would end with them on the grounds dancing to garba and dandiya's and enjoying every moment of it. Rey and Kriya got to know the real person they were.
