Your post is bang on...I feel the CVs have really lost track of the characters they themselves have created. Khushi's portrayal suffocates me now- from a person with strong convictions, values and strength of character, she's been reduced to being portrayed as a comic, bungling fool. Is this to heighten the contrast between jalli Khushi and the cool, sophisticated Sheetal? And is this slapstick comedy the way to treat such a sensitive issue?
The transformation in Arnav is as shocking. The way I see it, Arnav's reaction to Khushi's insecurities makes zero sense- especially when he's already come to know that she is SO insecure about his past relationship with Sheetal. He was shocked that she'd even got a DNA test done to check Aarav's paternity, right?
So what should a spouse logically do in such circumstances? Would he keep on and on with behavior that could fuel the insecurity? Or would he rather keep interactions with the ex and her kid polite but aloof? IMHO, any sane spouse would opt for the latter option, unless they really wanted to get some sadistic pleasure out of troubling their better half...
Forget it being an Arnav--Khushi issue; or even a man vs woman debate. The simple policy in all successful marriages is communication and respect for your partner's feelings. Going on and on reminiscing about 'awesome twosome' days and engaging in super friendly banter with your ex in front of your already insecure spouse? Has the seven year itch visited Arnav 6.5 years early? 😊
Things about the last 2 days' episodes which REALLY bugged me:
1) Arnav supposedly being a caring enough dude to 'let' Sheetal 'win' their matches. I though he was a bitter, egoistic and tormented individual who blocked out all the softer emotions except for his Di? (Until he met Khushi, that is...) So if he was this regular fun loving, sporty college dude, what was all that back story of him being tormented by the incidents in his past?
2) If Arnav is shown as having no skeletons in his closet and nothing to hide in regards to Sheetal, why show an awkward moment between the two during the basketball match--almost as if he was reliving some past memory? And similarly after the match when they were high-fiving each other at the mention of 'Awesome Twosome'- why that moment of self consciousness? Note, that after he felt self conscious in high-fiving Sheetal, he went ahead and did so anyway!!
Either Arnav should be shown as desisting from this behavior altogether, out of consideration for his wife's feelings; OR he should be shown as being so guilt free, that he has no defensiveness whatsoever. What is this weird half way house??
3) Khushi walked away from the court and went back home--but Arnav was so swept up in his BB victory and his bonding time with Aarav, he only remembered about her when Nani spoke about how much Aarav reminded her of Arnav's childhood!! In essence, the CVs are showing that it was his conscience that troubled him then, as he recalled Khushi's doubts on these similarities; but he never bothered about her before that??
4) Doesn't Arnav find it at least mildly mystifying that his ex shows up with kid in tow, is cagey about the identity of the Father, and has nurtured the child to be a near clone of himself? And has named him "Aarav SR" to boot?
To conclude--the way Arnav has been shown so far, he's brutally frank and not given to outright lying. Manipulation, misguided cruelty and coercion, yes 😊😉 but not deliberate fibbing. So if he says he never had 'that kind of relationship' with Sheetal, we have to go along with that as the truth.
But then, it makes ZERO sense to show his cutesy interactions with the said ex and her kid. Each time I see this, I cringe and feel like nominating the CVs to some social interactions course. Is there some way of telling them to get the nuance right--show Arnav as being polite to Sheetal and casually affectionate with the child in an acquaintance kind of way.
Instead they show him teasing and egging on his ex, and becoming almost a father figure for the kid. TOTAL overkill...
Cheers..
