Chapter 2- Revelations
As swayam and Sharon reached towards the canteen from the opposite sides, they stood looking at each other. Swayam moved back, making way for her but she stayed.
" Kyu kar rahe ho tum aisa mere saath'I said I am sorry'phir yeh doori kyu?" she thought.
"you cant have an easy way out all the time..aur vaise bhi..doori hi pyaar ko badhati hain: As if almost reading her mind, he too thought.
Sharon: tum..tumne kuch kaha?
Swayam: nope
And he walked inside.. she followed him and greeted everyone
Half an hour later..
Everyone paced around in the canteen. It was 6.30 in the morning and no sign of rey.
Vicky: kya yaar rey ne khud subah subah bulaya and now he's only not here.
Sharon: guys, I am sure koi problem hoga...
She said it for the millionth time in that half an hour and glanced over at swayam who was trying to call rey and message him. They sighed and sat down. A few moments later swaron's phones beeped. It was a message from rey..
"swayam, sharon, basketball court...please..need you guys'"
Sharon looked at swayam who looked as worried as she was
Vishakha: kya hua dude?
Sharon: guys, rey'rey is not well he said he's sorry but he won't be able to make it'
She looked at swayam for his approval'he nodded and they began to take off'
Vicky: tum log kaha ja rahe ho?
Swayam: woh..kuch events ka discussion karna hain..i'll see you later'bye
They both literally ran out of the canteen and reached the basketball court. They sighed when they saw him sitting there, safe. They walked towards him.

Rey sat in the basketball court all alone'he had come there in the middle of the night and was still in a state of shock.
He'd checked his phone and saw 50 missed calls'the log contained almost everyone's number. Not knowing what to do, he sent the msg to swaron.
he held the envelope close to his heart and cried bitterly'life had played a very cruel joke on him'he felt as if someone had stabbed a thousand knives in his heart all at once. He did not even know whether to be happy or sad. He let his tears flow'he could not hold them back'he did not have the strength to hold them back'
swaron quickly sat next to him and were shocked to see him in that state'he was still clutching onto the envelope and his eyes were bloodshot red'when swayam placed a hand on his shoulder, rey quickly hugged him and fresh tears ran down his cheeks. Swayam tried to pacify him'
rey: I am a jerk'apne pyar ko hi'I doubted'
he spoke in broken sentences as he came out of the hug.
Sharon: rey, what are you talking? Aur'aur tum itna ro kyu rahe ho?
Swayam: haan rey, hua kya? tumhe kisine kuch kaha kya?
Sharon: please rey say something
They kept bombarding him with questions'rey was again lost in his thoughts. Suddenly Sharon noticed the envelope he held'she slowly took it from his hand while rey didn't even realize it. Even swayam's attention was drawn towards it as Sharon opened it and began reading it'
Rey: read it aloud'.
He said, suddenly from his thoughts but didn't look at either'they were confused. As for rey, he had lost count of the number of times he'd read it but still he wanted to hear it. He deserved it, he thought. Sharon began reading it aloud.
"rey'kaha se shuru karu kuch nahi samaj raha..hopefully aap isse padhne ke pehle isse kachre ke bin mein phek nahi denge'well, I deserve it, don't i? but aapko janti hun'meri har cheez ko aapni jaan se bhi zyada sambhalte hain! surprised na ki aaj achanak itne mahino baad mera yeh letter kyu?
Mujhe khud bhi nahi pata'miss toh aapko har pal karti hun'don't be shocked rey, a lot of relevations are on their way. So I think I am writing this because since the past few days, the guilt of what I did has been killing me'it was something I have thought about all the time but over the past few days'

Aur jab aap pre-valentine's night ko ghar pe aaye kya kuch nahi kaha maine. But every word I said, it was like a stab in my heart which broke into millions of pieces. But I deserve it rey, coz maine aapko hurt kiya. tod diya tha maine aapko puri tarah. Pyaar se vishwas hata diya maine aapka. Mom ko pata chal gaya ki aap ghar aye the. Main unhe kuch bolu uske pehle hi unhone gusse mein aake kaha ki hum agle din dehradun ke liye ja rahe hain. Maine socha tha aapke paas nahi toh door se hi sahi aapko roz dekhne milega college mein..lekin woh bhi hope chala gaya'
Aur main chali gayi..humesha ke liye'aapke hazar sawalo ke jawab diye bina'ek letter likha tha lekin usme kuch bhi zikar nahi kiya'even though aapko hakk tha sach jan ne ka'kitni jhalli thi main'apne pyaar ko is layak bhi nahi samjati thi'ki aap samaj jayenge agar ek baar baat ki toh!
Aur swayam..mera best friend'usse bhi maine kuch bhi batana zaruri nahi samja. Sab bahut nafrat karte hain na mujhse? Unhe kabhi mat batana..i know you will'neha, vishakha, swayam, bharat, amar..i don't want them to feel guilty about anything. Aur aap'aap bhi..aur dard nahi dena chahti main aapko
Apne dil, dosti aur dance ko humesha ke liye chhod diya. Aur life ko bhi' I am sorry rey. Agar ho sake toh mujhe maaf kar dena. Aur..move on rey'there is no future to us'kyuki agar kuch future hota toh universji kuch karte'mujhse kai behter ladkiya apko mil jayegi'aapko toh koi bhi ladki mil sakti hain'aap hain hi itne ache. A true gem of a person. So please mujhe bhulake aage badhiye..aapke liye best hain. Aur aap khush hain to hi main khush ho sakti hun..aur main..even I'l try to move on'haan yeh baat alag hain ki mujhe koi aur nahi mil sakta..aapse better toh kabhi nahi but aapke jaisa bhi..kyuki mere liye REYAANSH SINGHANIA ek hi hain aur main yaha chali toh aayi par apna dil aapke paas hi chhod diya'because you will treasure it forever I know'

Sharon looked up. She'd choked on the words as she read every line. By the time she was finished, her face was reddened as she'd been rubbing it to wipe off her tears.. She composed herself but she couldn't. how could she have got someone so wrong in the first place? She remembered all the things she'd said to kriya and was ashamed of herself. she looked at swayam and rey. They sat in pin drop silence. She wondered how rey must be feeling right now if she herself was that guilty! And swayam? Kriya was his best friend. Her thoughts were interrupted when swayam spoke up, fumbling for words'
Swayam: apni..best friend..nahi samjha usse maine'
He kept repeating it and cried. Sharon quickly sat next to him and placed her hand on his shoulder. When he didn't pacify, she wrapped her arms around him in an impulse and let him cry. When he was calm, she could still hear his soft sobs and hiccups.
Sharon: swayam'sambhalo apne aapko plz..for rey..usse toh..
Suddenly swayam moved away to look at rey as realization struck him. He felt guilty for even thinking about himself when rey needed them the most!
Rey sat there motionless. He didn't cry anymore. His tears had dried up. He'd cried through the night and uptill swaron came. "Sorry toh aapko main keh nahi sakti'aapki maafi bhi deserve nahi karti main. I deserve nothing from you'not even your love'", "move on rey", "mere liye REYAANSH SINGHANIA ek hi hain". Her words kept ringing in his ears. He shut his ears quickly but nothing worked.
Sharon: rey'
He looked up and gave them a weak smile'
Swaron couldn't see him like this'they had to do something'swayam got up in a jiffy
Swayam: rey'chal..lets go'
Sharon: go where?
Swayam: kriya ko dhundne'
Rey suddenly got up as well'for the first time in the few months that had gone by, there was life in his body.
Sharon: main bhi saath chalungi'for rey'par..par how do we..pure dehradun mein'
Swayam: the envelope'
Rey: what about it? Swayam it's not possible
Swayam: oh god people! Kabhi letter nahi likha kya tum dono ne school mein?
He was suddenly very excited.
Rey: swayam, tu kya bakwaas kar raha hain
Swayam: rey, mujhe doubt ja raha hain tune pura letter padha'
Sharey: what do you mean?
They spoke together. Before they knew it swayam had taken up the envelope from Sharon's hand and was holding it up, smiling brightly. When sharey didn't understand he pointed to something.
Swayam: the sender's address guys!
He spoke sighing at their unawareness. Rey snatched it from him. He was right. Her address was written there. He couldn't believe his luck.
Sharon: let's leave guys..aaj hi..for dehradun.
Suddenly rey sat down, as if the hope had been lost
Sharon: rey, kya hua? Chalo na'tumhe kriya ko nahi milna?
Rey: how do we'college se leave kaise milegi? We are a part of the student body..hum teeno ko saath mein woh..woh VP kabhi nahi jaane dega'teeno toh chhodo kisi do logo ko bhi nahi jaane dega'it's not possible
They thought about it for a while and suddenly Sharon was smiling widely, from ear to ear
Rey: Sharon, kaisi best friend ho tum meri. Tum smile kar rahi ho?
Sharon: best friend hun isiliye apna kaam janti hun'how can you forget..there is one person who can always help us'
Reyam smiled as they realized whom she was talking about. they all quickly moved out from there.

they stood outside a cabin in the college. Sharon knocked on the door and when they heard a "hmmm" come from inside, she pushed it open. In the past one month, they were entering this cabin almost everyday; to chill, to solve their personal problems, and to just talk' the teams loved the ambience. The interior was tastefully done. As they looked around gawking again at the place, their eyes fell upon the table. There was a name plate there; that name that always brought a smile to their face. After the vp's entry, their life was turning into hell, but not since the past one month. There was someone there for them now. They read the name again, unable to believe that they had gotten so lucky "Karan Mallik. Designation: principal"
All 3 of them remembered the time when he had come back to st Louis. Karan had told them the truth straightaway. He had heard about their sorry state, spoke to his father's friend who was a trustee at the college and lo'he was the principal. The VP had cried foul over it but who cared about it? And like a true hero, he had helped the students and brought back the college to what it was earlier. Even he had tried to help rey come out of his loneliness. He had helped Sharon as well after the incident to try and talk to swayam but swayam was adamant this time.
Swayam: sir'
Karan who was till now sitting on his chair, his back facing them turned the chair around swiftly and spoke at the same time'
Karan: yes, swayam'.and rey'and Sharon
He said as he saw the other 2 as well. He was surprised to see them all there.
Karan: so guys, aaj yaha kaise'kya scene hain?
Sharon: sir, actually we need your help
Karan: ofcourse'now tell me'janaab aapki kya help kar sakte hain'
Swayam: sir actually'we need to go out of Mumbai for 3 days..toh college se leave chahiye'
Karan looked at them suspiciously.
Karan: 3 days? And who all?
Sharon: all 3 of us
Karan: really now! Tum teeno ko lagta hain ki main Vp se baat karunga'for this? Guys, I help you people iska matlab yeh nahi ki you guys take me for granted
Sharon: sir, its- its urgent sir
karan didn't say anything. He shook his head indicating a no'he was about to speak when rey, who was silent till now, spoke up
rey: please sir, please let us go. Aapki yeh favour..i will do anything in return..please sir, I beg of you, please'
his voice cracked and swayam who was next to him put his hand on his shoulder which didn't go unnoticed by karan
karan: so guys..what's up! Am I missing out on something here?
swayam: sir actually we need to show you something'
saying so he handed over the letter to him. Karan began reading it while the 3 of them stood there silently' when he was done he looked up at rey who couldn't look into his eyes
karan: rey'look at me
rey still didn't look up
rey: you wre right sir, I should have listened to you when you said that koi reason hoga..i know I am a fool
karan: no you are not. Agar tumhara jagah main hota toh main bhi..infact anyone would have reacted like that'now let me think what can be done about this'
they all patiently waited, their fingers crossed
karan: ok guys, I think we can work it out'I'll tell the vp that there's some inter college event coming up and the student body of all the colleges all over India have to attend a meet'
Sharon: wow sir, that is perfect.
Karan: its not that easy to convince him Sharon'
Rey: exactly..main convince kaise karunga'
He was again lost in his thoughts and suddenly said those words
The others looked at him surprised
Swayam: kya bol raha hain tu?
Rey: how do I convince her to come back..aur uski mom..how do i'I told you guys, this plan won't work..she was right..i need to move on..
Karan: giving up already rey?
Rey: toh fir aur kar bhi kya sakta hun..ek ray of hope aya tha but that is also gone now
Karan: what if I say I can accompany you guys'
All three of them looked at him in surprise'he winked at them and they knew he was serious.
Swayam: that's'that's awesome'main aaj sham ki hi tickets book karta hun'
he took out his phone and dialed a number and spoke on the phone'
"yes, its me..i need 4 tickets for dehradoon right away..aaj sham ki koi bhi flight'"
There was a pause as the others kept looking at him
"what? There's no ticket available'what do you mean koi bhi flights pe nahi hain..do you even know whom you are talking to?"
He suddenly stopped as he realized what he was about to say. The others raised their eyebrows as he said those words. What did he mean? He was dialing another number now. They were more interested in hearing him now and leaned towards him.
"yes, I need to leave today for dehradoon. Mere saath aur teen log bhi hain. Will it be ready? Ok great, thank you'ya bye"
Rey: dude, what was that?
Swayam tried changing the topic but rey kept insisting on knowing'
Karan: how are we going swayam?
He suddenly interrupted, sensing swayam was not ready to make any relevations to them right now.
Swayam: private chopper
He said it as a matter of fact but it did not fail to surprise the other 3
Rey: private chopper'dude seriously, you have one?
Swayam began fumbling for words
Swayam: arre nahi'my friend'he has it..not me..omg how can i..rey, tu bahut funny hain..
He knew how pathetic he was at lying. Before rey could ask him anything karan interrupted
Karan: guys, packing nahi karni kya'
Swayam looked at him thankfully and he blinked his eyes indicating its ok..rey and Sharon left from there'
Karan: yeh jo bhi tumhara sach hain'I mean I don't know what it is but if you want it to be a secret you better be careful. Tumhe sab log observe karte hain. Tumhare continuous phone calls and especially the way you talk over the phone, they are all somewhere aware ki tum kuch chhupa rahe ho..
Swayam: I cant tell them anything right now'
Karan: I understand but tumhara secret wont be one if you are not careful
Swayam: sure sir'I'll see you then'in the evening'
As swayam turned karan called out to him'
Karan: I too have my eyes on you buddy!
They both chuckled at that and swayam left from there

Rey and Sharon were walking in the corridor'
Rey: kya soch rahi ho?
Sharon: swayam'uska behavior has changed'
Rey: towards you?
Sharon: yeah..and in general also..tumne dekha na usne abhi kaise'
Rey: Sharon, chill'uska personal issue hoga. I am sure jab wakt ayega he will tell us
Sharon: I hope so..aur pata hain rey, aaj itne dino baad he looked at me and didn't ignore me'
Rey: aha..seems someone is missing the attention..
Sharon: rey!!! Tum kyu itna tease karte ho mujhe'
Rey: mera birthright hain'
Sharon: whatever! Anyway thanks aaj tumhara vajah se he spoke to me..
She knew rey would again tease her and she didn't look at him
Rey: ofcourse you should thank me..anyway you are welcome..dil ki matters mein main humesha tumhe help karunga..
Sharon: dil? Rey tumm'
Before she could say anything, he was already running and she ran behind him'
Sharon: bahut khush ho tum aaj..
She screamed while running which made everyone turn their heads. She looked down embarrassed.
Rey: ofcourse Sharon! Khush toh main bahut hun'I'll see you then'in the evening.
He replied from where he was and he too was embarrasses when everyone looked at him'he quickly hopped away and Sharon kept looking at him with a huge smile'
"itne mahino baad'my best friend'he is back to normal'thanks kriya'looking forward to meet you.." she thought and went about with her work'
