Complicated- Part 19

Arnav was reading a book when he looked up at the opening of the door. This was Khushi. He got up from the bed

"Khushi tum bed per so ….." He stopped in mid as he looked at her face. He could clearly see the fear. She was staring at the bed and it takes him no time to guess what she was actually thinking. She was mumbling something, he moved closer to hear properly and as he did, he wished himself to hide somewhere where he could not hear her. Regret and Guilt what he felt at the moment

"Khu … Khushi" He called her but she was not listening to him

"Khushi" He called her again but she was not in present, she even forget that Arnav was calling her name, he saw her closing her eyes and then he heard his name. He placed his hands on her shoulder and jerked her

"KHUSHI" He called louder this time and she looked up at him with teary eyes. It was he who always gave her pain but today seeing her like this it was paining him, He felt like killing himself at the moment as he saw her moving towards the recliner silently

"Khushi tum bed pe so jaao main ….."

"Hum apne room mein ja sakte hain?" She cut his sentence in the mid. Well he has no problem with her going to other room but their family may take it wrong. He looked at her, she was staring her hands and twisting and rolling the corner of her duppata to her hands. She was nervous and scared. He understand why she don't want to stay in this room

"Ok, tum chalo mujhe kuch kaam se jana hai, I'll be late" Without looking at her, waiting for her answer he left the room

She opened the door of her room and entered in. After three years she was entering the room where she has spent 14 years of her life. She sat on the bed and the last memory she had of this room include those two persons whom she cannot forgive for her entire life. The same room where for the first time she she saw softness for her in Arnav's eyes. She lay down on the bed and pulled quilt on her. She was crying silently and soon she fell asleep.

She opened her eyes at some noise. Rubbing her eyes she sat down and looked at the side clock. It was 4:00 am. 'Who can be at this time?' Wondering she stepped out of the room. The corridor was empty and all lights were switched off. She was about to turn when she saw dim light coming from Arnav's room.

"Yeh ab tak soye nahi?" She moved towards his room and thinking for a while she opened the door. As her eyes fell on him she was shocked

"ARN ….." He looked up at her worried face.

"Tum soyee nahi?" he asked normally and her feet failed to move

"Yeh …. Yeh kaise hua?" She asked as he applied antiseptic to his wounded temple. Tears were glistening in her eyes

"Nothing, just a small accident" He said calmly but Khushi could see it was not a small accident. Blood was dripping from his forehead, there were scratches on his face, cuts on his hands and he was saying it was just a small accident!

"Jhoot keh rahe hain aap… aap kahan gaye the?" She questioned once again and this time she could see annoyance on his face

"Just sleep Khushi, I've some work and on the way back I met with a small accident, what's the big deal damn it" as he raised his voice she was frightened once again, turning back she stepped towards her room

Next morning Khushi wake up and she was surprised, she didn't have any nightmare nor she heard the voices of 'Go Away' and I am sorry.

"Perhaps now I am in my house that's why" She smiled and this time from her heart.

"Good Morning Khushi" She stretched her arms and giggled hitting her forehead at her nonsense, She got up from the bed and went to bathroom to take shower

On the dinning table Anjali asked Arnav about the bandage;

"Chotte yeh kaise hua?"

"Nothing Di … I just fell from stairs" Khushi looked up at him immediately, he told her that he met with accident and now he was saying something else. She could see he was not meeting his gaze with anyone instead he was having his breakfast hastily and in just two minutes he got up

"Chotte theek se khao na" Anjali said

"No Di I'm done …. Khushi let's go I'll drop you college" Khushi don't want to go with him but he asked in front of entire family so she cannot say no now. Bidding good bye she left with him

There was complete silence in the car. Khushi was looking outside the window while Arnav was looking straight while driving. The car stopped in front of her college, she was about to open the door when he stopped her

"Khushi….. What …. What I have …. Have to do so ….." He paused and she looked at him not getting what he was saying, His head was bowed and he was clutching on the steering tightly

"Aap kya kehna chahte hain?" She asked

"Main …. Main aisa kya karoon Khushi …… ke …. Ke tum mujhe maaf ker do!" His grip on the steering tightened as he said these words and Khushi was unable to understand this sudden change in his behavior

"Aap please kuch mat kijiye kyun ke aap ke kuch karne ya na karne se humain koi faraq nahi parhta … hum agar 3 saal pehle wali Khushi hote toh kab ka aap ko maaf kar chuke hote ….. per ab hum aap ko kabhi maaf nahi ker sakte" She moved out of the car without looking at him and without wating for his reaction like he did night. Yes, time can change anyone and now if today he was guilty for his doings then how can she forget the three hardest years of her life! Where she started her life from scratch. No, she cannot forgive him, no matter what her heart felt but she will never forgive him!

Summary of the Update:

Khushi asked Arnav if she can sleep in her room, He agreed and asked her to go there and went out saying he has some work. At 4:00 am Khushi woke up at some noise and when she followed she found an injured Arnav in his room. When she asked the reason he told her that he met with accident and asked her to go and sleep. Next morning when Anjali asked Arnav about injuries he told something different saying he fell from stairs. After having breakfast he asked Khushi to come with him so he can drop her college. Khushi unable to refuse in front of the family went with him. On the way to college Arnav asked Khushi to tell him what he could do to have her forgiveness. She went out of the car replying that none of his act can affect her now and if she would be the same Khushi as three years before she may have forgiven him but she cannot now!
