Indra Bashing

Dear Members,

I see that Indra Bashing has been going on for a while, as i see from the posts Indra has been abused, put in poor light and has been called names etc etc.

However to let you know the truth,

None of the mentioned vices have been attributed to Indra in Vedas, according to vedas Indra is the supreme God even greater than Shiva and Vishnu who became popular over puranic and itihasic period. so by bashing him are we negating Vedas which are assumed to be the first scriptures from which all others emerged.

how can moderators be so tolerant over such an issue, if bashing of certain deity is not allowed, i would expect such standards to be upheld for others. all the puranas are against Indra as they come from later date. so is it justified to quote them to bash up Indra? based on these puranas.

i am not here to score any brownie points but as far as i am concerned, rules or standards prescribed are to be maintained for every deity in Hindusim.

i am no exception here as i also bashed up Indra and got away with it.

Indra is shown as a negative person only in this show.The puranas always depicted Indra as a power hungry person and greedy person.He would make lot of mistakes but he would regret too but in yesterday's episode they didn't show him regretting even after getting caught by Kartikeya.Indra was never like this.

But the whole serial is based on various Puranas, not the Vedas. One won't find Mahadev's marriages to Sati or Parvati, Kartikeya's or ma Durga's wars or Ganapati's stories in the Vedas. Once the story is being based on the Puranas, they are going to show what's there.

Exactly my point is where do we draw the line, everything is offensive to somebody in some context and in some way.

i really don't understand why i cannot compare two puranas objectively. if such a yard stick is applied all the criticism which goes into Indra or for that manner asuras and other people
doesn't make make any sense.

so the point is if i have done something wrong in saying some things in some manner so have the other forum members who have done a grave injustice by talking against the very foundations of Hinduism which are Vedas, which glorify Indra in umpteen possible ways.

Its up to moderators what they want to do. but as far as i am concerned i agree that i have been carried away some times, but such references are to a puranic character rather than a supreme divine as worshiped by certain community.

i will be eagerly waiting for reply from moderators regarding this specific issue of Indra Bashing

see Indra is a complicated character,hes one of those characters that is most likely to be hated than be liked
