Angry Dalits from different parts of the state marched Thursday morning to the "Bigg Boss" home demanding eviction of one of its inmates, cartoonist Aseem Trivedi, a Republican Party of India (RPI) member said.

About 5,000 marchers, led by RPI chief Ramdas Athavale, have gathered here from Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Nashik and other parts, party spokesperson Mayur Borkar said.

"Last week, Athavale had raised objections to Colors TV channel including Trivedi in its reality show, 'Bigg Boss', as he had committed insults to various symbols of India and denigrated the constitution. He had given one week's time to the TV channel to evict him or face action," he told IANS.

Since the channel failed to remove him, the RPI led a march Thursday to seek his eviction from the "Bigg Boss" house, being shot in a bungalow in the hill town of Lonavala, about 100 km from Mumbai.

"Bigg Boss" is a reality show where contestants are locked inside the house for 98 days, away from the comforts of their everyday lives, and without any communication with the outside world. They have 70 cameras prying on their activities 24x7.

Borkar said Trivedi had been unknown till he targeted various Indian symbols like the tricolour, the Ashok Chakra, parliament and the constitution.

"While the Maharashtra government may have let him off, he is still unanswerable to us as he has denigrated the constitution of India, penned by the great Dalit leader, Babasaheb Ambedkar," the official said.

Two months ago, Trivedi hogged the limelight after the Maharashtra government slapped sedition charges on him for sketching obscene cartoons denigrating Indian constitution and other symbols, during last year's Anna Hazare-led anti-corruption crusade in Mumbai.

Trivedi was thrown in jail but after a public outcry, was released. The sedition charges against him were quietly dropped.

This political group, is it a sub branch of C party or what?
They seem to think they are above Indian people.
Forget the nation wide outcry and protest when Aseem was arrested?

Seriously some of these parties are such waste of time. There are so many issues out there to be handled, but all they care about is getting someone evicted. I do not know much about these people, so it will be great if someone can shine some more light.

What is this RPI? How many parties are there in India? Dalit party, Shiv Sena, Hanuman Seva, Ram Sena, Shushu Party,Tutti Party blah blah blah and finally ongoing blah. Do they need any certification or required education to accomplish a party? I bet No. These illiterate lazy fools watch TV all they long and look for controversies. Indian Govt need to do "Shitter pared" of all these parties but aye, remember vote bank?
I don't know how he disrespected so called Indian pride? When people kill unborn Kudi's, beat them, turn into pedo, rape them, fight over shits etc. Well that's where pride of India is hmm Interesting! Keep it up !! Sale kuthe

I thought RPI is Republican Party of India and was active only in West Bengal, it is one of the left parties. But I guess this is a different RPI which is an offshoot of BSP thus representing Dalits.
A couple of more pointers regarding Aseem, the govt of Maharashtra dropped charges against him and he was not aquitted in court of Law. As per Law one cannot insult a national flag, a national emblum, a national anthem or the contitution in the name of freedom of speech or any other pretext. That was the main contention between the literary segment and the government.

I don't think so. Some random party wants to evict Aseem, but don't know if they will be able to.
