On September 5, one of the teachers from St Aloysius School at Mount Carmel, Bandra, retired. Among her numerous students was Nausheen Sardar Ali. And the actress has some special memories of Shanti ma'am. Taught her to act "I know some students who are still in school and they told me Shanti ma'am is retiring. She was my class teacher in standard eight as well as the history teacher. She was my favourite. I recall that during our annual class picnic, a bunch of girls had disappeared for a while to have their own bit of adventure. The next day they were all made to kneel outside class. I was just lucky that I was unwell that day and did not attend school or else I would also be among those punished!" Why Nausheen still has fond memories of her school's teachers, is because they were instrumental in grooming her towards acting. "I was a shy, reserved girl. The teachers would force us take part in dramatics and elocution. This was what made me go up on stage and ultimately I took it up acting as a career. I owe it to them." Though Nausheen has not been in touch with her Shanti ma'am, the school memories are enough to last a lifetime. "Teachers say that once students finish school, they don't remember those great days of their life they spent as youngsters. I'd like to tell teachers that students do remember them; we keep on remembering those days and talk about them fondly with friends and family." Film front On the work front, Nausheen has shot for three films. "I have completed Marathon where I feature opposite Bikram Saluja. The film with Lucky Ali, which was titled Vivash, is now called Vash. There is also Do Dilon Ke Khel Mein which is finally happening." Though best remembered for her title role in the Sony daily Kkusum, Nausheen also featured in the Star Plus thriller KalChhakra. On the theatre front, Nausheen has been in Dinyar Contractor's Maar Diya Jaay, Ya Chhod Diya Jaay and Nikita Wadia's Kkusum Manohar Lele. No to Yes Boss What about the buzz that she was to feature in the SAB show Yes Boss? "Yes, I was approached but there was nothing concrete. It was all talk and I had my reservations about the role offered so I preferred to say no." She says that it is not that she is averse to doing television. "Nowadays there are too many stories about aam ladkis which I have already essayed." Spotted with Vikas On the personal front, she says her former beau Vikas Kalantri still remains a friend. At Anuj Saxena's birthday party both were spotted together. "Yes, we did come together in the same car but how come no one noticed Ekta Sharma and Savita Prabhune, who were also in the same car?" she emphasises. At the moment, work is all that matters to her.
