CHAPTER 46. GEET ACKNOWLEDGES HER LOVE FOR MAAN

Place - Khurana Mansion

It was Sunday morning and a certain Maan Singh Khurana walked into a certain lady's room sneakily. He walked towards the wardrobe and pulled out a beautiful green coloured chudidaar when suddenly his hand stilled. He felt something off in the room. As if there was something wrong in the room. He thought for a while when the answer came to him. He could not hear the shower on. He frowned. Everyday at this time Geet went to take shower then why today there was no noise of shower today. He felt fear grip his heart and he turned away from the wardrobe. Before he could even think about searching for her, his eyes fell on the bed and he let out a sigh of relief. His Soni was on the bed sleeping till now. She had a smile on her face as if she was dreaming about something good. Maan felt he could stay there the whole day staring at her. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath trying to calm his heart beat but he opened his eyes again. Why was Soni sleeping? Ise kuch ho toh nahi gaya? Woh theek toh hai? He took some steps towards her in worry when he remembered. On Saturday night Dadi was not feeling well and both her bahus had volunteered to stay by her bedside. He shook his head. Dev had mentioned to him that both the ladies had stayed awake the whole night by the time he had woken up NT was exhausted and wished to sleep in. Maan sighed, NT aur Soni dono hi raat bhar jaagi hai toh agar NT thaki hai toh Soni bhi thaki hogi. No wonder she was sleeping like a baby. Maan laid her suit on the bed deciding to let her sleep. He was about to walk away when he noticed Soni frowning. He took some steps and stood beside her. He noticed one of her hair strands coming on her face and disturbing her. He sat by her and smiled softly. He pushed the strand away slowly and watched her lips bloom into a smile. How lucky he was to have Soni in his life! He shook his head at his sappy thoughts and got up. As he turned to walk away, his hand was caught from behind. Maan looked at Soni worried that his touch might have woken her up. But he heaved a sigh of relief when she remained sleeping. He looked at her hand holding his. She had caught his hand subconsciously. He sat by her slowly. "Kyun rok rahi ho mujhe Soni?", he asked her softly but she remained sleeping. He noticed her hair strand still coming on her face and pushed them away. But after pushing he did not pull his hand back. He cupped her cheek softly and smiled in wonder. He did not believe that an angel like Geet had wandered into his life. He slowly whispered, "Kabhi kabhi toh yakeen nahi hota Soni ki tum meri zindagi mein aayi ho? Maine kabhi nahi socha tha ki main itna khushnaseeb ho sakta hoon ki tumhaari jaise pari meri zindagi mein aayegi. Tum jo mera itna khayaal rakhti ho. Der se ghar aaun toh mere liye jaagti ho, meri pasand ke khaane banaati ho. Haan! Jaanta hoon parathe mere favorite nahi aur phir bhi tumne mujhe khilaaya..", he chuckled, "Par ab wohi parathe mere favorite ban chukke hain. Tum jab se aayi hona Soni, zindagi mein jaise jaan aagayi hai! Pehle main sirf doosron ke liye jeeta tha jaise Dadi, Dev, NT, Anne, Arjun lekin ab jabse tumse mila hoon apne liye jeena chaahta hoon. Hamesha maine sirf apne farz par dhyaan diya, apne responsibilities ke baare mein socha, lekin ab main apni dil ki sunna chaahta hoon. Tumhaare pehle main sabki khushiyon mein khush tha lekin ab main apni khushiyaan chaahta hoon. Pehle main ek mechanical robot tha, tumne mere is dil ko dhadakna sikhaaya. Main har waqt sabka khayaal rakhta tha par koi mera nahi. Lekin jab us raat tum mere liye jaagi toh laga jaise ki mera bhi khayaal rakhne waala koi hai; Mera bhi apna koi hai. I love you Soni, I love you. Tumhaare baghair main mar jaaunga Soni. Haan! Saansein chalengi par sirf apni Daadima ke liye. Yeh dil toh tumhaare baghair mar hi jaayega. Agar tum gayi toh tumhaare saath yeh dil waala Maan chala jaayega aur reh jaayega toh sirf ek Business Man MSK jo sirf Dimaag ki sunta hai. Tum meri sab kuch ho Soni, sab kuch." As Maan ended his monologue he felt relieved. He knew that Soni was sleeping and one day he would have to confess and say the same things again face to face but still talking to her felt better. He took a deep breath, gently removed his hand from hers, kissed her forehead and walked away. As he walked away, Geet opened her eyes. She sat up and watched Maan's retreating back in shock. She had woken up when he had cupped her cheek and heard his monologue from start to end. He had left her speechless. She knew that Maan loved her but she did not know that his love was so deep that without her he would be nothing. She did not know the depth of his love. She lied back down but Maan's words kept on rolling in her head.

By the time Geet and NT had wandered down, it was 9 in the morning. Both the ladies had directly gone to talk with Dadima ensuring that she was alright. After confirming that their beloved Dadima was alright, they sat for their breakfast. Both Maan and Dev had their breakfast and were seated on the sofa discussing about some project. As Geet ate, her eyes kept on wandering towards Maan. She did not know why but she felt as if she was seeing Maan in a different light. He seemed different Maan Khurana today. She looked at him carefully but his dressing style seemed normal. She frowned as she realized that due to her sleep in she could not choose Maan's clothes. But that did not seem different and neither did his hair style seemed changed. Then what had changed? Maybe….Geet realized….Maybe Maan remained the same but she felt different today. She looked back at Maan only to see him staring at her. She blushed and looked at her breakfast. As she ate she was reminded about the first time she had cooked for him. How different that Maan was and how different this Maan is! She remembered how he had tried to apologise by giving different gifts to her! She smiled lost in her thoughts. Suddenly, Maan got up bringing Geet's attention to him. "Main is baare mein tumse baad mein baat karta hoon. Mere video conference ka time ho gaya hai!", he told Dev. He turned towards NT and Geet, "Dekhna ki koi mujhe disturb na karein. Yeh meeting important hai." NT nodded and Maan walked away. Soon the ladies had their breakfast done and both of them wandered to their rooms.

As Geet sat by the window, she sighed. Few days back, when she had eavesdropped on Dadi and Maan's conversation, she had been shocked to her core. She had come to know that not only was what her father had told her a truth but also Maan, a rich businessman had fallen for her. Why her? A name less girl. A girl who had lost her memories and identity. Why would a Construction King love a girl like her? This question had nagged her many times, but she always pushed the thought away. But today his words to her sleeping face had answered her questions. Suddenly, she smiled. She felt honoured to be loved by Maan; a guy who did not hesitate to help an unknown girl from goons, a guy who brought home an unknown girl and cared for her, a guy who did not care who she was and yet loved her. She was grateful that she was in love with such a guy. Suddenly, Geet stiffened and sat upright. Love? Was she in love with him? Her eyes widened and she stared at a wall in front of her in shock. Was she in love with him? Her subconscious answered; yes. She sat there with wonder on her face. Was this how love felt? The feeling she felt right now in her heart; was this love? She smiled softly. Yes, she was in love with Maan. She hid her face in her hands as her smile threatened to split her face. She was in love! And not just with anybody; with Maan! She excitedly stood up and happily spun around. She was in love! She loved Maan! She laughed wholeheartedly as she lied on her bed. She was in love; with Maan!

Geet slowly slipped her hand underneath her pillow and pulled out Maan's photo. As she stared at his photo she sang softly.

She hugged his photo tightly. She found her love in him. She found her God in him. Him; The Maan Singh Khurana, the person who loved her without any return expectations, the man who gave without asking anything from her. She looked at his photo again and sang as her fingers moved against his face.

She kept his photo on the side table and smiled at him. She placed her elbows on the table and held her face in her hands.

She took his photo in her hands. She lied on the bed and hugged his photo again.

She sighed as she looked at the time. Her eyes widened as her brain registered the time. It was time to give Dadima her medicine. She ran downstairs and into Dadima's room. Few minutes later, after feeding Dadima her medicine and making sure that she was alright Geet wandered towards her room. As she ascended the stairs she noticed Maan standing by the door of the study room discussing something with Dev. She smiled as she remembered the time when she had kept the fast so that he gets the tender. She sighed as she remembered how Maan had picked her up and swung her around when she had completed his designs. She felt proud that she had contributed to his work; his dream. She walked towards her room while singing softly.

Geet smiled happily as she remembered the job offer letter in her bag. She will soon be part of his work permanently and soon she will be able to contribute more in fulfilling his dreams.

She noticed that Nakul had brought back the ironed clothes. She took them and went to put them in the wardrobe. She opened the wardrobe and put the clothes in when she saw the silver saree Maan had gifted her. She pulled it out and smiled at it. It was beautiful. She hugged it tightly and imagined Maan standing in front of her. She walked towards him and sang further.

She sat in front of the mirror and placed the saree on her body. She sang as she admired the saree on herself in front of the mirror.

She shook her head at her silly antics and kept the Saree back into the cupboard. She turned towards the mirror when she saw something in it that shocked her. Her eyes widened and mouth fell open.

She was dressed in red bridal dress with sindoor in her maang and mangalsutra around her neck. Maan stood behind her hugging her from behind.

She touched her forehead and then her neck as her eyes teared up. This was what she wanted; to be Maan's forever. She blinked and the image in front of her vanished. She slapped her forehead at her day dreaming but the image remained burned behind her eyelids. She lied on the bed and closed her eyes. The image came back in her's mind front. She sang slowly.

She got into sitting position and sang with a smile on her face.

Place - Maan's room

It was half an hour later when Geet sneaked into Maan's room. She went to his wardrobe and opened it. Searching for few seconds she found the special book of Maan; the one which had his childhood photos and his thoughts towards her. She opened the page after the one in which he had written last and wrote something in it. She took the rose she had brought with herself and placed it on the page as a bookmark. She closed the book and looked around. She bit her lip as she thought of a place to keep it. She had to keep it in such a way that Maan should see it the moment he entered the room. Kahaan rakhoon? Kahaan rakhoon? Kahaan rakhoon? After wondering for a while she found the bed as the best choice. She kept the book on the bed and walked away.

Place - Geet's Room

Lunch was over and Geet wandered into her room. Maan had asked for the lunch to be served in the study room as he had another video conference meeting scheduled in half hour and he wanted to be ready for it. Dev had also joined him for the lunch and the meeting as this was internal meeting with the heads of other branches of KC. In twenty minutes, Geet was bored out of her mind. She wanted to see Maan's reaction when he saw what she had written in the book but Maan had been holed up in his study room for hours. She could not even sleep as her excitement to his reaction made her restless and her mind did not allow her to sleep. She already checked twice on Dadima but Dadima was sleeping, so Geet could not even have a chat with her. She had even asked NT to join her to pass the time but Annie had called up and both the ladies were still chatting. While Geet had said 'Hi!' to Annie she did not know what to talk to her as both of them had never met each other and hence Geet had quietly walked back to her room leaving NT chatting with Annie. Soon she started pacing the room due to boredom and excitement. One one side she was bored of waiting and on the other side she was eager for Maan's reaction. It was during this situation of hers when Nakul told her that Khushi had come to meet her. She had smiled happily. Chalo! Achcha kiya Babaji ki Khushi ko bhej diya varna meri toh boriyat se jaan nikal jaati!

Place - Maan's Room

An hour after Khushi came to meet Geet, Maan ventured into his room. He had kept a file here which he wanted for the meeting. The quarterly results of the company were out and Maan had wanted to discuss the future projects in their hand plus what else can they do to improve profits more. But one of the files was left in his room and he had come to take them. He went to the table beside the bed where he had kept the file, took the file and walked back towards the study room. Just as he was about to cross his room's threshold his eyebrows creased and he stopped. What was his mother's scrap book doing out on the bed? He turned and looked at the book lying innocently on the bed. The book was made by his mother before she died and after her death Maan kept it with him as a piece of his mother and wrote in it when his life took a turn and brought Soni into his life.

As Maan walked towards the book he noticed that it had been bookmarked by a rose. He frowned in confusion and picked up the book. He opened the bookmarked page and almost dropped the book in shock. The handwriting on the book was of Geet's. He had seen her writing when she had made the design for his project. How did she come across this book? He wondered. He shook his head. Obviously, she found this book. She is the one who selects his day to day attire so it was natural that one day she would find this book. Infact, he should be amazed that it took her so much time to find it. He sat on the bed and read what she had written for him. It was barely four lines but it was enough to give Maan a shock. He sat stunned for few seconds. As her words permeated his brain slowly a smile started to form on his face. Soon, he was smiling widely like a fool as he read the lines again. Here was what Geet had written in the middle of the page:

- I found God in your eyes, Maan! Ab aap hi mere sab kuch ho!

And right at the end of the page Geet had written:

P.S. Aap jo mere liye mehsoos karte ho Maan, Main bhi wahi mehsoos karti hoon!

SONG DETAILS

This song is from the movie Bittoo Boss (2012). There are two versions of this song. One is a duet by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal and other is solo by Shreya Ghoshal. Even though both the songs have same lyrics the singing style is different in both. The version used here is the solo one. If the songs I chose in this whole story uptil now are some of your favorites then I would recommend you to hear this song if you haven't yet! It is really melodious!

AUTHOR'S NOTES

I know you all are shocked by a surprise update. But my Aunt who takes care of my Nani has to go away so me and mom are going to give Nani company till she comes back. I will be going tomorrow and coming on 22^nd only.

And I know that the chapter is short but the next scene was of Khushi and Geet and I wanted this chapter's focus to be totally on Maaneet. Plus I got the news of us going to Nani's house only today so I wrote this as fast as I could.
