Letting You Go
Part 1
***
His fingers traced her soft face as she laid sleeping next to him. A tear fell from his eyes.
"I am sorry!" He whispered.

"Arnavji! Chalo uthiye na! Waise toh roz time pe uth jaate hain! Aur aaj kitni der kardi! Yaad nahi aaj kya hain?" He clearly heard her voice. He slowly straightened up with a scowl on his face. "Aur ab aise muh bhi bana rahe hain! Kya hua hain aapko?"
"Oh shut up Khushi!" He snapped. She put the tea on the bedside and turned to him frowning.
"A-ap..."
"Meine kahan na shut up? Tumhari avaaz specially! Its so loud!" He said angrily and moved towards the bathroom.
"Lekin..." She started softly, but he cut her off again.
"Again? I am telling you to shut up! For the sake of god!" He said. He turned towards the bathroom again. "I wish meine kisi educated ladki se shaadi ki hoti!" He muttered, locking the door. His hand stayed on the door and his scowl turned into a painful expression. His body slid down the door. His legs bent and he laid his head on the knees.
"I am sorry!" He whispered. Again.

"Di! Mein aaj office se late aaunga. Please aap log time pe so jana. I will be really late!" Arnav said as he made a bee line towards the door.
"But Arnavji!" He turned towards her with a bored expression.
"What?" He snapped.
"Aaj toh..." She started but he turned his attention to his phone.
"Look! I don't care aaj kya hain! Subah se mera dimaag kha rahi ho! I am getting late. Bye."
He looked up one more time at her face. She was almost in tears. Her eyes welled up with shiny moisture. His heart craved to cradle her in his arms and tell her that he was sorry. For everything. But he couldn't. He knew he couldn't lose hope. He turned away in emergency and walked out of the door before she said something that will break him down.
"Aaj toh hamara janamdin hain." He heard her whisper.
***
"Aman, aaj ki saari appointments and meetings cancel kardo."
He put down the phone and laid his head on the chair. His head was throbbing with pain and memories.
His mind went to this day last year. The way she had gone to her Buaji's house early in the morning before he woke up. The day he had run to her house, not because he thought she ran away, but because he though he had lost her. The day he had completely fallen in love with her.
He wondered if he can stick to his plan. It was killing his heart. His phone rang, bringing him out of his thoughts.
"Hello?" He said annoyed.
"Sir, Miss Kashyap is here."
"Send her in."
A few moments later, Lavanga entered his cabin. Without knocking as usual.
"ASR?" She asked with a frown on her face. He looked at his long lost friend. He had broken her heart, and here she was. Back to help him. He bit his lip and tried to stop the barrier to break down. But it betrayed him, and the tear fell down his gorgeous face.
***
"You ready?" He said. He turned in his chair, facing the door. He could clearly hear the chiming of her soft, delicate payal.
"Yes!" He replied.
"Yes." He said as the door opened, he closed his eyes and pressed his lips to Lavanya's cheek. "I love you." He said.
He opened his eyes to look at the most painful scene in front of him. She stood there with her hand on the handle, a bag in her hand that slowly slipped to the floor. Her eyes didn't wait for her permission to slip tears. He stared at her, controlling every emotion in him. He watched her as she ran away from there, leaving the bag abandoned by the door. As soon as she was gone he got up and ran towards the door. He saw her figure running out of the office, and he moved towards it to stop her, but then the realization struct him. He can't. For the sake of his love, for her, he needed to hurt her right now so she could be saved from the immense pain later. He dropped to the floor in pain. Hos hand reached out to the bag just as he felt Lavanya run away from there. He knew she had cried. She was way to soft to see people breaking down.
He opened the bag and found a pack of Jalebis in it and he was sure it was sugar free. He opened the box and bit into one, trying to smile as the deliciousness of her hands' cooking made it's way down his throat. But he couldn't. He had just hurt the love of his life. And he was sure she was never coming back to him.
She was gone forever.
As long as he lives.
