I remember my mom telling me , there was this one popular Hindi serial that went on for like 8 yrs.. OMG 8 yrs..

Don't seem to recall the name of the serial. Tulsi or something????

Saas bhi kabhi Bahuti... Havent watched it... But it was very very popular.. That was a Balaji Production..

2-3 years is ok.. After that its too difficult to hold the viewers attention.. If tehy bring in too much twists and turns that will distort the whole story...

Sima,

It was Kyoonki Saas bhi kabhi Bahu thi (Tulsi Virani ki kahani).

I initially watched it for Tulsi and Mihir's story. And that was nipped in the bud and there ended my love for it. 😭 😭 To think of that Tulsi and Mihir and what Ekta did to them 😔 ...

Tell you all a joke... Till a few months back I didnt know the meaning of the title 'Saas bhi kabhi bahuthi'.. I thought it meant 'the breath is still flowing'' or something of that sort... (meaning the person is still alive...) Then someone told me the meaning and I was so so ashamed of my hindi... And all who heard me was laughing at me..

@Preet, I hope they show something positive in Rishabala relationship before they bring in twists and turns like SD says... Till now, I frankly confess that for me the main attraction is Rishabala love story and not Madhu's entry into filmdom.. Hope they show the filmdom story without many clunky plots.. Let it not be at the cost of Rishabala... But I forget that not everyone wants to see a love story... 😔

I'm right there with you. I adore all the places they could go with this love story, there's so much potential there. If they decide to throw that on the backburner or ruin the epicness that could be I'm out.

I've found that a lot of the shows I watch I watch for the relationships and not necessarily love stories (ie. Grimm and Supernatural - love these shows but it's the 'bromances' that drive them for me). This one though I was purely for the love story, the little moments between Rishabala. As long as the filmdom story is done without throwing Rishabala under the bus (you know perhaps even strengthening their relationship) I can go with it.

lol... I'm sure we've all been there though. My Hindi isn't the best but we've had Hindi movies in the house my whole life so that's how I picked it up, that and to me it's close enough to Punjabi that I can fake it if I have to (albiet somewhat awkwardly at times) lol

SD, watched the episode again.. So here are my new thoughts...

1) Dipzy was crying.. She seemed to really care for RK.. 😕 Or am I wrong?

2) I was wondering how Madhu would feel about the shooting.. RK was shot while he was doing puja.. Apart from the getting-RK-to-acknowledge-his-belief-in-Bappa track, there is the fact that RK is her husband.. If he is fatally wounded, how would she feel as a wife? Would she be upset as a wife, or is she upset just like any other compassionate person? I find that very interesting... If she is her mother's daughter, then she should feel something as a wife as well..

3) Pads was also upset.. Likewise, was she upset bcos she is human or bcos RK is also her SIL? or both?

Any idea?

Peach,

You took words off my mouth. Since morning I have been wondering on that. Will Madhu feel as a wife or just as a compassionate person.

Then I recalled all her facial expressions:
  • Worry that RK is stranded and God knows what he will do
  • Disbelief at what she was seeing. The Man actually dancing away in devotion.
  • Happiness that her prayers have been heard
  • Gratitude expressed to God
  • And then she just starts looking at her husband. That is the longest time of the expression we see in her. It is a "mesmerized" look at the man who keeps on winning over her through frustrating of her goody-goody attempts to make him see right.

If only RK had looked at her at that time, they sure would have forged something deeper than previous level.

I don't think she will think from the point of a wife when she goes to pray to Ganesha to ask for his life. I don't think it will be for compassionate feeling for a dying man. I think it will be more for herself. She saw the man yielding to her will, opening up to her and finally subjecting himself to his friend+God...She sure will have questions now...like RK asks Ganesha...why ? If part of her beliefs were absorbed by him, part of his doubts should flow back to her. Else why that look? Else, how the balance is going to be restored by the man's surrender. This time she will have to ask God on his behalf, why does he do things the way he makes them happen.

Now that's my take. I don't know what CV's have in store.

As for the feeling him as her husband, we will know only in coming days. Actually Madhu is too assured that RK's life is full of her. Once she sees Dips or anyone else claiming RK, she may feel the pinch and then she may think of RK from a different perspective.

Dips - Overacting. Even Kukku had tears if you see carefully.

Padmini - She is exactly in the same state as Madhu. She is slowly understanding RK. And Madhu gets her patience from Padmini. They can take any shit, but will not let their goodness go away. They look very silly and other worldly, but that's what they are. And sone pe suhaga (in english to add the shine on gold), they got similar fairy being in Radhaji.

Gosh!! even I can't wait for Doves write-up on Madhu.

I agree with what you wrote SD..

The thing is Madhu is her mother's daughter.. She is bound to have her mother's views on marriage as well... So I feel, she should be feeling something as a wife too... I am not taking about love.. Something like this-is-my-husband-that-is-wounded-not-just-any-other-person kind of feeling..

@Dipzy.. Was it really?

@Kukkuji.. Did you read the news that he is supposed to be behind the 25crore thing? Maybe he didnt expect Sultanbhai to shoot him? The tears thing might be to create drama and suspense before future revelations.. Dipzy's tears might also be the same thing..
