I agree he cares about her, love is there, even if he won't acknowledge it, what you have pointed out already is his feeling for her need for close relationships with her family, though he doesn't want close relationships with his own family but with her he knows her soft heart also, he always says to her how compassionate she is also. Definitely I'm convinced RK loves madhu and is very much obsessed with madhu, doesn't he seek her out again and again throughout the day, his restless when he is away from her.
