The first thing she did after reaching her room was take her meds. She'd had a dose earlier in mall also but that didn't help much, her body was not responding to them may be because last few days she spent without them. What they did was make her more tiresome n sluggish, it seemed her body would take some time to again get accustomed to the pills, she just wished that time just came soon.
Gulping the pills with water she closed her eyes trying to forget what happened downstairs a few moments ago but sadly that didn't happened. Her stomach clenched unpleasantly n she felt a tug then it rushed upwards. Quickly keeping a hand over her mouth she ran towards the bathroom in Jia's room.
She threw out all the contents out from her stomach, all the pills n the pizza slice she had ate with Jia leaving the bitter taste behind. She hated vomiting it made her feel sicker, weaker. Her eyes were filled with saline water as she slumped on the tilled floor, feeling bad n alone. The misery now had become so unbearable that she didn't want the loneliness any more, there should be someone, anyone beside. But for her no one was there, no one to hold back her hair while she vomited, no one to rub her back, to wash her face, to sooth her with a few words of compassion n it was unfair to her, she knew she did mistakes but she never really wished bad for anyone than why was her fate written like this?
Geet moved to her bed, Maan's words coming back bursting her heart, spattering blood all around. Why was he doing this? It wasn't her mistake.
As she sat on the bed a stray quill from the bed post scratched her hand making a small gash drawing a little blood. Momentarily she forgot the inner ache; it felt better if not good. But why everyone was so adamant on giving her pain even the bed post, she smiled at the thought tears running down dropping on the floor in tiny circles. They were waste; discarded... no one was there to care. So why should she shed them on the pain inflicted by others, she would herself control her pain.
She scratched her palm again on the quill making another scratch, then the wrists n the arms. She didn't know how much time she spent in the madness but now both her hand were filled with little scratches each with a layer of blood marking them. This pain was hers. It surely hurt like hell but every time she rubbed the skin against the quill the soreness of her heart faded a bit n the realisation that no one else was the cause of the misery was comforting.
The ring on the intercom distracted her. Geet wiped her tears from the back of her hand smearing some blood on her cheeks.
Ji... She responded clearing her throat.
Madam sab shopping bags kahan rakhne hai? Nakul asked on the intercom, not wanting to face Maan right now.
App wahin chod dijiye mai abhi unhe khud rakh dungi. She decided to keep the things in Jia's room assuming Jia must have slept by now she was tired when they had came back but first she had to deal with the blood. She also swear this was the last time, like Maan said she would never go near her. Maan was the father n she was nobody, it would be better for everyone if she stayed away from the little one.
Looking in the mirror she spared herself few tears of self pity. What had become of her... she was a disaster n her life a failure. She washed her face n the blood on her hands then changed into another suit with full sleeves.
Jia was soundly sleeping, not to disturb her sleep Geet switched on the small lamp. Collecting the bags from outside she emptied the contents n arranged all the things in her room. Taking the crayons in her hand she opened the drawer of table beside the bed to keep it there. She was just closing it back when her eyes caught the corner of a pic placed in Jia's drawing book n she pulled it out. She shouldn't have though. It was Maan's n Shreya's marriage snap n she found it at the worst time. Her timing was never good.
Her heart cried a little more n the tears sprang out from her eyes. Shreya looked happy clinging to Maan's arm with a big grin on her face clad in a beautiful pink n red lahenga.
Geet couldn't stop herself on her place. She should have been there beside Maan, she loved him madly, more than anything more than anyone. But he didn't love her he loved the girl standing with him in the photograph n it was in no way Shreya's fault if her love was reciprocated.
Moving her eyes to Maan she wasn't able to meet his eyes even when it was just a picture may be she didn't wanted to see the happiness reflected in his eyes when he was back there, with the love of his life n she was suffering in another part of the world.
She kept the picture back not able to hold the matter, it burned her skin reaching the inside n piercing her very soul into shreds of nothingness.
When she came back to her room she was completely wasted, all her parts very aching due to the mental trauma n physical illness. Her feet gave up n tears had dried, she wanted rest n as soon her head touched the pillow she fell into deep slumber.
The pungent smell filled her nostrils overwhelming the senses. When she opened her eyes her vision was blurry n then she noticed the smoke everywhere around, visible even in dark.
The gray heavy clouds made breathing almost impossible n pricked her eyes. She panicked not knowing what to do, immediately she stood up from the bed trying to figure a way out but it was dark everywhere. She walked ahead n when she turned behind there was no bed.
It felt as if she was in some kind of a vacuum, devoid of any form of existence offering only emptiness. The suffocating smoke was killing her slowly; she searched the surrounding desperate for the exit but getting none n so she started running as fast as she could for the end.
Her bones protested, lungs giving up n so were her legs but she was adamant, a few more minutes in this hell n she would be die. A roaring laughter stopped her n then she saw him, her worst nightmare, standing before her as cruel n evil as ever. He moved closer n when she gazed down her legs were shackled. She knew what he wanted the knowledge scared her so chose her last option, she screamed.
Maan could not sleep, he was angry n frustrated. Why Geet every time ignited his fury? It not only was lethal for her but he himself burned in his own rage. Her helpless eyes flashed in his mind n he for a split second thought if he over reacted but as fast as the thought came he dismissed it.
It was about Jia n she was most precious, the last thread binding him to this world n perhaps to life also. Her security was most important n moreover he didn't wanted Geet to be around her, the hurt n betrayal he faced was horrendous, and in no way he wanted that fate for his daughter. She was innocent n believed everyone in a blink not knowing that all people are not same n so he was there to shield her in every way possible.
A shrill sound broke his trail of thoughts n then there came a sound of glass shattering. He rushed to the balcony pushed open the unlocked door of Geet's room, no doubt the sound was from there only. The scene made his eyes wide; he didn't have to open the lights to see what was happening. Geet was twisting n turning on the bed as if in extreme agony, her hands fisted on the sheet, face tear stained n lips pursed in a muffled cry. There were broken jug on the floor. He assumed Geet knocking it from the side table in her sleep. It seemed she was having a really bad dream.
Maan took a step forward then retreated back; it was not his problem so he didn't care. But the sight before him was beyond pretension. For a moment he stood there torn between the two choices then walked ahead.
Geet. He called in order to wake her up but fruitlessly.
She stayed in the dream world chanting incoherent words in murmur; her breathing was laboured n when Maan shook her she was burning with high temperature. He wouldn't admit but a sudden fear hit him. Alarmed as he was, sitting on the bed he jerked her up... to pull her out of the illusion n she did came out.
Her bloodshot eyes opened wide n everything went still, after the initial shock her hazels became misty n lips quivered. As if in a haze she hugged him wrapping the limp arms around his waist n burying her face into his chest.
Please. Was what she said like asking for help n Maan didn't thought before engulfing her in his strong embrace, the logical part of his not working.
For what felt like eternity must have been a few minutes n her body started cooling. Her cries had also subsided while the face remained hidden from his view. A shudder passed through her n she must have came back to senses because next second she pushed him away n staggered back. Maan felt hurt still kept his stance firm as if she was noticing.
She closed her eyes n clutched her hairs ready to pull the strands out from the root; her mind was a tangled mess n head was bursting with pain. There was a sting all over her body while cold shudders moved up n down her spine.
Maan witnessed the turn of events confused one moment she was hot n rigid n next moment she was shivering. He held her hand calling her name n found her ice cold. One more call from him n she jerked his hand away.
Geet... He bellowed holding her by shoulders to gain some control over her dishevelled state but she snapped away his hand with hers. N when she looked up this time it was with sheer rage.
You stay away from me. She pointed a finger at him. This is all because of you. She accused scooting closer him n poking her finger into his chest.
I am this because of you. Her rage now had turned into self pity and again into anger mixed with a series of emotion. You are the sole reason, don't you dare touch me.
Tears streamed out as she continued. Her jaw was sour n throat was choked with what felt like with a stone still she continued in her broken voice hardly registering any words she spoke. You... I hate you. Did you hear that? I hate you.
Her small fist contacted with his chest, for what was intended to be punches barely served the purpose nonetheless she didn't stopped n hit him continuously n speaking like a maniac. Maan held her wrist when she was drained of all energy n her words came out in inaudible whispers.
Pushing him back in her last attempt with what little energy she was left with, Geet curled on the bed in fatal ball while her body shuddered violently.
Maan didn't give up. What did she thought she would push him away n he would give into her demand. Well to her bad luck he wouldn't on the contrary he would make her succumb to him. He moved forward n pulled her back into him authoritatively. Wrapping her form securely with his he breathed in her scent absorbing all her shudders n small cries.
She didn't protest because her mind was not processing she was swinging somewhere in between consciousness n sleep but now she felt a bit calm though the reason for abrupt peace n comfort was unknown to her.
Precap- Maan probing Geet.
