'I've had enough... no more relationships for me!'
After one failed marriage, Navneet Nishan says, she isn't willing to go through pain again

She has been single for the past five years of her life and Navneet Nishan is loving it! The actor who changed the face of Indian television, with her pathbreaking Tara, is much calmer and focussed today and the difference is visible. "Recently, my friend Sushmita Mukherjee told me that I've become more serene and I guess I have," she says with her characteristic laugh.
Navneet says that being single again has reminded her of how stressless life can be. "Now, I'm focussed on keeping a beautiful home and making my life more positive," she says.
Luckily, Navneet adds, she is at an age when wisdom has crept into her life and she couldn't be happier. "In fact, Amrita Singh, who's a great friend of mine, and I keep discussing how we've never liked a phase better than this," she adds. Navneet explains, "When we were in our 20s and 30s, we were busy making our careers, thinking about kids and other things. But now, we've been through all that and we're much calmer," she says.
Navneet describes herself as a loner. But the question of loneliness creeping in her life doesn't arise, she's quick to add. "I have my mother for companionship, I'm very involved in my siblings' life and I have close friends who are more like family," she says.
But didn't she get into another relationship? "My family tried to make me meet more people but I'm not for relationships anymore," she says. "Once you've seen one marriage and it hasn't worked out, you're almost scared for the next one. Relationships brings a lot of baggage with it and I can't bring myself to attempt it again," she says with a smile.
At the moment, her life is centered around work. Playing the evil Nirmala in Kavyanjali and the conniving yet foolish Parminder in Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka, takes up a lot of her time. Navneet reveals that she was a little hesitant about joining the K brigade but eventually decided to give it a shot. But for somebody like her, who'd played a bold Tara, wasn't it regressive to join the saas-bahu bandwagon? "Unfortunately, what's happening is that people who could fulfill what actors like me want, could not manage to pass their shows on channels. I did work with many people but those shows wouldn't see the light of the day. So it's after a lot of pondering that I decided to say yes to Ekta's shows," she says.
On the filmi front, Navneet couldn't really graduate from comedy or vamp roles. "Unfortunately," she admits, "whatever you do right the first time, stays with you." Navneet says that she would love to play a larger than life character, the kind of roles Rakhi used to play. "But these kind of roles don't come my way. Also physically, unless I grow my hair and look like the cliched Indian woman, I wouldn't get them," she says. She's planning to grow her hair in another few months now. "I think I'll grow them really long, perm them and look like a really mysterious woman. Only then, Amrita and I will start looking alike!" she laughs.
