Some Mumbai women are surely making their presence felt globally. In a recent copy of the fashion bible Vogue, Balaji Telefilms creative director Ektaa Kapoor, Parle Agro Private Limited CEO Schauna Chauhan-Saluja and wholetime director of Adlabs Films Limited Pooja Shetty were featured as Mumbai's young tycoons. Obviously, the ladies are quite excited.
"It feels great! I am humbled by being featured in it," says soap queen Ektaa when quizzed about the piece. Adds Schauna, who usually prefers to keep a low profile, "I was more than happy to do the story with Vogue. It was very exciting and I enjoyed every bit of it." Pooja's initial reaction was a bit different from the rest, as she recalls, "When I received the email from Daphne Beal (who came all the way from New York to do the story) requesting to do the interview, I was a bit surprised. At first I thought it was a joke." However, she adds, "I am honoured and grateful to be a part of a story representing young Indian women to the world!"
Pooja also claims, "I'm no tycoon. Yet I love being called 'tycoon'. It sounds cool." As the girls put it, the entire experience – talking about their work and the photo shoots with Raghu Rai – made the experience quite memorable. "It is definitely very motivating to be portrayed in this manner," says Schauna.
At the end of the day, however, it's all about work for these girls. As Ektaa puts it, "I just want to do my job well and be appreciated for it."
