I am sure most of you would have read Great Expectations.. When I first read that book, I could not grasp the depth of what happens around Pip and how he evolves. Now everytime I read it, a new dimension pops up and I am left amazed.
Now you ask me what this has to do with UrShi.. 😆 The truth is, Rashi jumping to the conclusion that he mom will get the business on Friday triggered this thought, the base of which got laid when Rashi felt jealous as soon as Gopi was praised.

Great Expectations is all UrShi have had all their life. Urmi wanted a rich household for her daughter and Rashi wanted Rich with a puppet of a husband and other extras.. Nothing wrong and nothing that does not happen in real life. We always aspire to be someone better than us. Unfortunately, there is something we forget. We forget to fee grateful by looking at those who do not have the life we have and thus lose context to reality.

Expectations, hope, wish, aspirations... all these are very needed in life. Life needs to have some challenge, a hope and a wish to look forward to but these have to be things we can achieve. One can aspire to be the Queen of England but is that reality? 😕 And when these unreal expectation fails, it leads to anger, hate, jealousy and what not.
This is UrShi's life story. They expect things to happen with a fervor that is unprecedented without even thinking about reality or the chances of their expectations coming true.
Their expectations of Rashi ruling MM is exactly that. Their expectation of Jigar becoming the first son is also that😆.. And on Friday, Rashi expects and so does Urmi that her mother will now be given Gopi's business...
As someone said, do they expect Koki to trust Urmi of all people for her precious DIL's business? Bad expectation based on incorrect facts. Those only lead to disappointments just as Pips did.

Pip grew as a person from those failed expectations. He learnt from them and became a better person. Will UrShi ever learn? 😕

An interesting post Harini.

There are two things to discuss here:

One, Urmilas' expectations of her daughter to undertake tasks / activities of KKs in order to achieve the desired outcome, ie a step closer to Urmila's dream of making her daughter the maharani of MM. Urmila's artful teachings are answers to when Rashi feels insecure of her achieving her aim, ie the more Gopi is pampered / loved / appreciated the more Rashi's jealousy becomes.

Two, the expectation of Rashi's heart to understand and learn the ways of the Modi members thus fulfilling her role as a Modi DIL. In turn for her to realise that her mother's teachings does not grant her happiness and for her to have the capacity to consider becoming a better person.

In the upcoming expectation of the archar business being her mother's is the classic case of expecting something that will not happen. Rashi fails to ask herself why would her kaki want to give her mother the business but rams into both mother and daughter using their energy believing in this. At the same time to build sandcastles in the air, only for them to become embittered and plan to hurt the innocent.

This vicious circle that both mother and daughter have got themselves into can only be undone by their victim. This we will have to wait and watch.
