But actor Vidya Balan is glad that Sanjay Dutt is doing so in 'Lage Raho Munnabhai'.
Her second film 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' is up for release but Vidya Balan, the 'Parineeta' debutante, is far from nervous. "For some strange reason, I am not feeling any pressure. People tell me that it's very crucial, considering that I had a fantastic start."
Vidya continues, "I enjoyed all that 'Parineeta' brought me. With 'Lage Raho…' too I am part of a very good film. That gives me confidence because here nobody is larger than the film. The spirit here is such. Inshallah! People will like it and see me in a different light."
Playing RJ Jhanvi in the film must have required some preparation. Vidya reveals, "The reference point for Jhanvi's character was RJ Mallishka, whom I know since my college days. I went to meet her at the radio station and realised that she completely enjoys what she does. You have to be comfortable with who you are because your personality has to come through your voice. I visited the radio station is because I wanted to get its feel."
Another perception that surrounds her is that of being Vinod Chopra Productions' in-house heroine. "I started here and my first three releases are coincidentally going to be their films. It's like an alma mater to me. It has always been associated with quality films. I am glad if people think that way."
In 'Lage Raho...', Sanjay Dutt is so besotted with her voice that he impersonates a history professor to win her affections. Off screen too, Vidya must be having a line-up of admirers. "Not too many really! It's hard to believe that people find me distant and inaccessible. But yes, I have received a bunch of fan mail from this guy in Kolkata, some with his pictures and some with mine. He has done it beautifully and taken a lot of effort. I'm really flattered. Other than him, not many people have tried to woo me. Thank God, Munna is doing it in the film," she laughs.
