He watched her as she held his hand and smiled at the shining stars. Her smile, it was beautiful and the one thing that showed him real happiness.
She looked up at him and whispered 'They must be very happy today Arnavji, look at them twinkling so brightly', her eyes held the same sparkle, happiness that warmed his heart at once and showed him what it felt like to truly love someone.
He simply blinked his eyes and wound his arms around her shoulder as they sat by the pool with heir legs dangling inside the water, 'I'm sure she must be happy too' he said softly, the small smile on his face not entirely concealing the sudden sadness in his voice. Khushi turned to him and laced her fingers through his and pointed at the sky ' She is right there Arnav ji, watching over you, knowing you are happy' she whispered and leaned her head on his shoulder as his eyes misted and he held on to her tightly.
He had never been able to talk about his mother without harsh agonizing tears but Khushi was slowly making the pain go away and was replacing it with a warm comfortable remberance, she was slowly driving away the hidden pain and somehow being next to her made him feel like everything was just fine, she was like an expanse of breathakingly beautiful serenity and peace, having her by his side made him believe that the darkness the pain would not snatch away anything from him, she was like his strong pillar of strengh on whom he could lean and let the pain just dissolve and go away, her presence, her silent comfort made him feel like his battles were over, he was rescued.
'Arnavji a shooting star, wish for something!' she suddenly exclaimed and tugged at his arm, he watched her as she suddenly closed her eyes, a small smile playing at her lips and her eyebrows scrunched up in concentration, she was his angel and he looked up at the sky to see the bright light suddenly shooting down and slowly disolving into darkness, he watched as she slowly opened her eyes, the hazel depths brimming with joy and hope, she looked at him and smiled.
'What did you wish for?' she asked him, her eyes wide and smiling, 'Nothing' he said softly.
'Nothing?' she asked, her mouth turning up in surprise, 'But why?' she asked him curiously wondering if this was just him being a cynic all over again, he shrugged and replied 'I have everything I need' he said slowly, 'So what? every person wishes for something Arnav ji, you can't have everything' she persisted, her confusion and curiosity mounting. She looked searchingly into his eyes as they looked into hers with a familiar warmth and affection ' I do, I have you' she heard him whisper softly, her heart skipped a beat, the love in his eyes suddenly sending a jolt of emotions through her.
'You are everything to me' she heard him say softly again as he softly lowered his head, his eyes not leaving hers at all and then she felt it, his lips upon hers, making a million sparks erupt within her, her eyes closed at the blissful contact, she sighed as she felt his lips move over hers and wrapped her arms around him and pulled him closer, their legs tangled together now beneath the tranquil waters and the soft sighs filled the air with love as they shared their first kiss right beneath the stars.
