Must say I loved Akash in this.. and Arnav broke my heart.. I'm sure though this is how it will happen on the show too..

Hopefully things will look better soon!

Smitzy what a wonderful read. I have finished all chapters and fell in love with your writings and creative story. The characters have stayed true to the beginnings of IPKKND. The chemistry between Khushi and Arnav is alive and full of romance. Dadi is petrifyingly evil. I hope evil is punished in your writing unlike IPKKND were only the innocence are punished. Look forward to your next update dear.
Thank you for your post and pm. As my buddies list button doesn't work would you mind adding me to your list. Have a lovely dear.

Fab update as always. Though I always feel the maybe khushi should learn to share her burdens with her sister or other family members. Anyways i just wish that the actual serial was as gripping as your,ff. I mean there are days where I just read the updates on IF.

WRITER's NOTE: The pace will pick up slowly. But ya there's still a LOT of things in store. Stay tuned. Oh and btw, I am LOVING your feedback and comments. Keep them coming!

*None of my work can be copied without explicit written permission from me. It's not polite to steal ideas.*

Precap: Arnav goes to Gupta House with Aakash to pick up Payal. Khushi manages to get him drenched. They share a Rabba Ve. He asks her to come back to him but Khushi again turns him down. Arnav is furious and decides he'll not ask Khushi again. Meanwhile, Dadi seems to be scheming something to further cause problems for Khushi's family with someone's help. Garima confirms to Khushi that the doctors at the medical camp have confirmed that an operation can cure Shashi. Only drawback is that Khushi has to arrange for 5 lakhs within a week's time.

Chapter 7 Scene 1

Sugar and Spice

[AR Designs office, Arnav's cabin]

Arnav is seen going through some designs for the next photo shoot. He gets a call on the intercom saying Mr. Das is in the lobby requesting to meet him. Arnav asks the receptionist to send him up.

"Hello Mr. Das," Arnav stands up extending his hand in greeting which Das accepts. Arnav indicates him to have a seat. "So Mr. Das, I know this was short notice, but did you manage to go through the papers?" Arnav comes straight to the point.

Mr. Das opens his briefcase and takes out two separate sets of documents and keeps them in front of Arnav. Arnav looks down at them in confusion.

"Mr. Raizada, I've checked both the documents." Mr. Das replies in his deep baritone. Arnav continues to look at him in confusion.

"Both sets? Mr. Das maine jo aapko papers diye the, usme to sirf ek hi property ke liye papers the." Arnav tells him.

"Mr. Raizada, documents ke hisaab se, Lucknow ki Purani Haveli ki ownership aapko transfer ki ja raha hai, at the request of Subhadra Devi." Arnav nods in agreement. "Par in documents ke beech mein mujhe ek random sheet mili hai, jiska baaki papers se koi relation nahin hai. Use padh ke lagta hai ki woh kisi aur documents ka part hai jo shayad galti se in papers ke beech mein aa gaya hai. Us sheet pe neeche aapke signatures ke liye jagah mark ki gai hai." Arnav raises his eyebrows in surprise.

"Par us sheet mein likha kya hua hai?" Arnav enquires curiously.

"Like I said Mr. Arnav woh ek incomplete document hai. Us mein Laxmi Nagar area ke kisi ghar ke ownership transfer ke bare mein likha hai. Kya aap ko iske bare mein kuch idea hai?" he doesn't notice that Arnav has frozen at the mention of Laxmi Nagar.

"Nahin Mr. Das. I have no clue." Arnav replies calmly without betraying the chaos that is happening in his brain currently.

"Then I'd suggest you destroy that paper and sign on the other documents." Mr. Das concludes and stands up to leave. Arnav immediately stands up as well ans shakes his hand again.

"Thank you Mr. Das. You've been very helpful." Arnav thanks him. As his property lawyer leaves, Arnav sits back into his chair. Lines of thoughtful frowns encroach on his forehead as he picks up that stray sheet of paper and reads the lines written on it. Why would Dadi's lawyer slip in a paper relating to Khushi's house in these papers? He looks on deep in thought.

[Cut to Gupta House]

"Hello Shukla ji?"

"Haanji. Main Shukla bol raha hun. Aap?" comes the reply.

"Hum Khushi Kumari Gupta Sin -" Khushi stops herself from completing her old name. "Hum Khushi Kumari Gupta bol rahe hain," she resume hoping he'd be able to recognize her.

"Arre Khushi Bhabhi, aap?" Shukla's reverent voice and addressing her as "bhabhi" confirms to her that he does remember her. She doesn't bother to correct him.

"Kaise hain Shukla ji? Dabba service kaisa chal raha hai?" Khushi asks politely.

"Aapki dua hai Khushi Bhabhi. Sab theek chal raha hai. Par aapki kami to mehsoos hoti hi hai," he replies with a sad undertone probably hinting at her sudden departure from their partnership. Khushi immediately pounces on the chance.

"Arre Shukla ji, hum bhi pyaar se khana bana kar sab ko khilana bahut miss karte hain. Aaj kal hum ghar pe baithe bore hote hain har roz - " Khushi drops the hint tentatively.

"To aapne bilkul sahi kiya ki humein yaad kiya. Sach batayen Khushi bhabhi, aapke jaane ke baad se, hamare khane mein woh baat nahin rahi. Aur khaas kar mithai ki maamle mein." Shukla bemoans. Khushi holds the phone away from her mouth and starts doing her happy dance.

"Hello? Khushi Bhabhi?" she hears a distant buzzing on her phone and immediately brings the phone back to her ear.

"Haan Shukla ji. To hum phir se kab shuru kar sakte hain?" Khushi asks him happily.

"Aaj ka khana to tayyar ho chukka hai Bhabhi. Aap kal se shuru kar sakte hain. Bartan wagerah to sab tayyar hai. Main woh sab Shantivan bhijwa doon?" Khushi gasps suddenly. Shantivan?

"Nahin nahin Shukla ji!" She exclaims hurriedly. "Shantivan mein nahin! Hum... hum kuch dino ke liye apne maike aaye hue hain. Aap yahin bhijwa dijiye. Yahan ka pata hum aapko message kar dete hain," Khushi replies mentally patting herself on the back for the quick thinking.

"Theek hai Khushi Bhabhi. Aur aapko advance aaj shaam tak main bhijwa deta hun," Shukla replies, thanking his stars that his partner had a change of heart to return to their business.

"Ek aur baat Shukla ji. Pichli baar jab hum dabba service ke liye kaam kar rahe the to Arnavji ko achha nahin laga tha. Isiliye hum nahin chahte ki unko iss baar kuch batayen. Aap bhi unhe kuch mat bataiyega," Khushi requests him sweetly.

"Bilkul bhabhi! Kalakand ki kasam! Arnav Sir ko kaano kaan khabar nahin hone denge hum," Shukla assures her.

"Bahut bahut dhanyawaad Shukla ji," replies Khushi and disconnects the call.

She sighs in relief. A part of the tension seems to have been lifted off her shoulders. Chalo ek kaam to ho gaya. She stares at her idol of Devi Maiyaa. Hum jaante hain ki dabba service mein se 5 lakh kamana bahut mushkil kaam hai. Par humein filhaal sabse sahi upaye yahi laga. Raksha Karna Devi Maiyya! Khushi thinks to herself optimistically.

She walks to her cupboard and takes out her old cloth bag. Since it got torn on her birthday, she had stopped using it but hadn't thrown away for sentimental reasons. She opens the flap and digs her hand inside, her face scrunched up, as she started searching for something. After a few seconds of probing through her bag, her face morphs to a triumphant one as she extracted the things she had been looking for ' a stack of business cards screaming *KKGSR Dabba Service* and her Nokia Bluetooth.

[Somewhere undisclosed]

The room is small and musty. There are cobwebs on the walls. The floors look like they haven't been washed in months. There is only one bulb hanging from the centre of the ceiling, its light struggling to reach the nooks and corners of the room. An old typewriter is sitting on a rusty table. There are a lot of notary stamps arranged neatly in a box beside it. There is also different coloured ink pads kept next to the stamps.

Towards the end of the room is a huge white softboard; two full blown pictures of Khushi and Arnav have been pinned on it. Their pictures have been crossed diagonally with what looks like red marker. Several smaller pictures of each of Raizada Family and Gupta family have been pinned next to them. Colourful lines join the pictures together. There are other clippings, some from newspapers and magazines pasted neatly next to each picture. On the top of the board is a blow up of Sheesh Mahal and Shantivan and at the bottom of the Gupta House.

At the other corner of the room is a rusty iron spring bed. A lone figure is sitting on it, enveloped in the darkness. He looks unkempt and unshaven but he doesn't seem bothered by it. His eyes are closed and he is slowly tapping his finger against his forehead, as if deep in thought. Suddenly, he leans ahead and opens his eyes. His eyes fall on the picture of Anjali. He sneers.

He takes out an old Nokia phone from his pocket and dials a number he has memorised. The phone rings for a few seconds; she must have got confused seeing the "number withheld" on her phone's screen.

"Hello?" A sweet voice greets him confusedly.

"Rani Sahiba? Hum bol rahe hain..."

"Both sets? Mr. Das the papers I gave you, they had documents pertaining to only one property." Arnav tells him.

"Mr. Raizada, according to these documents, at the request of Subhadra Devi, the Purani Haveli of Lucknow is to be transferred to you in terms of complete ownership." Arnav nods in agreement. "But I happened to find one random sheet of paper which has nothing to do with the rest of the documents. After reading it, I can conclude that that sheet probably belongs to some other property documents and has found its way into your papers by mistake. although, there is a marking for your signatures at the bottom of the sheet." Arnav raises his eyebrows in surprise.

"But what is written on that sheet?" Arnav enquires curiously.

"Like I said Mr. Arnav it is an imcomplete document. It has some lines written about the ownership transfer of a house in Laxmi Nagar area. Does it mean anything to you?" he doesn't notice that Arnav has frozen at the mention of Laxmi Nagar.

[Cut to Gupta House]

"Hello Shukla ji?"

"Yes. This is Shukla here. Who am I speaking to?" comes the reply.

"I'm Khushi Kumari Gupta Sin -" Khushi stops herself from completing her old name. "I'm Khushi Kumari Gupta speaking," she resumes hoping he'd be able to recognize her.

"Ohh it's you, Khushi Bhabhi?" Shukla's reverent voice and addressing her as "bhabhi" confirms to her that he does remember her. She doesn't bother to correct him.

"How are you Shukla ji? How's the Dabba service going on?" Khushi asks politely.

"It's all your blessings Khushi Bhabhi. Everything is going fine. But we do miss having you working with us," he replies with a sad undertone probably hinting at her sudden departure from their partnership. Khushi immediately pounces on the chance.

"Arre Shukla ji, I too miss cooking for people and lovingly feeding them all. These days I've nothing to do so I get bored the whole day - " Khushi drops the hint tentatively.

"Oh you did an excellent thing by calling me then. Truth be told Khushi bhabhi, ever since you left, the quality of our food hasn't been the same. Especially in the sweets department." Shukla bemoans. Khushi holds the phone away from her mouth and starts doing her happy dance.

"Hello? Khushi Bhabhi?" she hears a distant buzzing on her phone and immediately brings the phone back to her ear.

"Yes yes Shukla ji. So when can I start again?" Khushi asks him happily.

"Well today's food has already been prepared Bhabhi. You can start from tomorrow. The utensils etc are all ready. Should I have them delivered to Shantivan?" Khushi gasps suddenly. Shantivan?

"No no Shukla ji!" She exclaims hurriedly. "Not to Shantivan! I mean... I've come to my family home for some days. Please have the things delivered here itself. I'll message you the address of this place," Khushi replies mentally patting herself on the back for the quick thinking.

"Sure, Khushi Bhabhi. I'll have the advance sent over to you by today evening," Shukla replies, thanking his stars that his partner had a change of heart to return to their business.

"One more thing Shukla ji. The last time when I was working for this dabba service, Arnavji wasn't too pleased. That is why I've decided not to tell him anything about this time. I'd request you not to say anything either," Khushi requests him sweetly.

"Of course bhabhi! I swear on Kalakand! Arnav Sir will be blissfully unaware of this," Shukla assures her.

"Thank you very much, Shukla ji," replies Khushi and disconnects the call.

She sighs in relief. A part of the tension seems to have been lifted off her shoulders. At least one work is done. She stares at her idol of Devi Maiyaa. I know earning 5 lakh rupees just from Dabba Service is a near impossible task. But right now this is the best plan of action I can think of. Devi Maiyya, protect me please! Khushi thinks to herself optimistically.

She walks to her cupboard and takes out her old cloth bag. Since it got torn on her birthday, she had stopped using it but hadn't thrown away for sentimental reasons.
