Forget adult films, look at our serials!
Anil Thakraney says that those wishing to blank out 'A' films on TV should first check out the X-rated plots of our very popular serials
Anil Thakraney
The city's self-appointed morality custodian, Ms Pratibha Naithani, is dead against us watching A-rated movies in our living rooms. Which is the reason your television set has mysteriously conked off for the last couple of days.
I must say the strike on movie channels is totally laughable. Especially so when compared to the hot, horny, juicy stuff that's doled out on our far more raunchy entertainment channels, which Ms Naithani is apparently quite cool with.
Here are a few situations I immediately recall, am sure there's plenty more that's been going on:
In Sony's Vaidehi, and this is currently underway, an outsider is secretly dispatched into the wifey's bedroom by her own hubby, to sleep with her, because Mr Vaidehi is an impotent man. Cool!
The goodie goodie Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki on Star Plus has, in the past, carried vivid episodes on the rape of a blind young girl. Not to be left behind, the same channel's Kasautii had family daughter Mukti drugged and then raped. Cool!
In Zee's Saat Phere, the ghar jamai of the household has a neat little hobby: he's busy messing around with the maid when the wife's away. Cool!
In Kahiin To Hoga on Star Plus, dude Rishi has slept with almost every character in the serial (only males have been spared, but am sure that's next up), and is forever shown brazenly pawing the lasses, at parties and on street corners.
In Ek Radha, Ek Shyam on Star Plus, only two nights ago, poor Radha's own fianc tried to rape her inside the hotel room. Cool!
Ditto in Zee's Dulhann, where, a conveniently rain drenched village lass called Vidya, was lustfully molested by some local goondas. Cool!
But all eyes at the moment are glued on Star Plus' Viraasat, lead actor Sangeeta Gosh has promised heavy sex scenes with her beau. Cool!
And mind you, I am not even referring to the lovelies that go on in Desperate Housewives, Sex And The City, and the always-riveting FTV. Not to forget our news channels that broadcast, in mouth-watering loops, lotsa sexy stuff. Recall how many times we enjoyed Mika doing his number on item girl Rakhi Sawant? In fact, Star News and Aaj Tak have both made a fortune dealing with sodomy, incest, rape and obscenity.
The naked reality is this: when it comes to crimes of passion, our soaps often far outdo our movie guys. But Ms Naithani is cool with that.
Now here's the real bummer. If these morality goons are allowed to have a free run by our courts, all entertainment on TV will come to an end. We'll simply be left with good ol' DD and its maha watchable Parliament News and Thumri performances. Oh ye glorious past, here we come!
