I can't believe it took me so long to figure out that the story of Indira and Rishi,from their attraction for each other,inspite of different social backgrounds,Indira and Rishi take a step towards the most beautiful journey of life,called love[like Oliver and Jennifer of Love Story]to their separation is similar to Erich Segal's Love Story ,Indira and Rishi get married despite the disapproval of Rishi's family,as Indira has no reputable lineage.Where in the novel Oliver finishes his law degree after getting married to Jennifer;in "HD",Rishi is shown to have finished his law studies before meeting Indira.Besides,in Erich Segal's story,we see that Oliver and Jennifer,after settling down,struggle with life as Oliver has limited access to money;they scrounge everyday,working part-time,juggling both school and work,just to make ends meet.A similar situation is seen in Indira and Rishi's lives too,where both hunt for jobs,and faces difficulties ;but here we've a twist,i.e.,Indira and Rishi are no longer students.Further more similarities in these two stories can be seen in the way the climax have been drawn;i.e.,in Love Story,after Oliver graduates,he get great offers from law firms,which makes his and Jennifer's life easier;they plan to have a baby,but it turns out that Jennifer is sterile.And the worst thing news that Oliver comes to know is that,his wife is dying of leukemia.He gets overwhelmed with grief,and decides not to tell Jennifer about it;Oliver forsakes his job in favor of spending more time with his beloved.But eventually Jennifer finds out about her condition and she and Oliver share the grief together;and finally,time parts them.The climax in the earlier track of Illa Bedi's "HD" seems quite similar,but there is a lot of inter changing in the role of the characters.In other words,in Indira and Rishi's story,we get to see Indira more strong and courageous;whereas,Rishi break down emotionally.But whereas in the Love Story,Jennifer dies,giving a tragic end to the 'love story';in Illa Bedi's story,the female character comes back with a different name and identity.
Well,till this part of the story Illa Bedi uses her inspiration quite well,but she lacks in her own creativity,because there seems to be innumerable mistakes in her plot,which seems to deviate from the theme;there seems to be a huge gap in the story,which has not been bridged.Now we'll be looking for the creativity of Illa Bedi:how she takes the story from here;because taking the base of Love Story and using it in her drama,with minor fabrication has been quite appealing:in the sense that we got to see the variety of emotions in Indira and Rishi's story.Now what we all are waiting for is the way Illa Bedi will create the circumstances under which Rishi and Zara,alias Indira will meet;and if the same overpowering emotion of love can be seen between them.
Inspiration is natural;we all get inspired by different people,by nature,so on and so forth.But if we're inspired by someone,or something.we should own it up.While Illa Bedi has been stating that "HD" is not a love story,than why did she use the plot of the novel LOVE STORY ?Really ironical!!!!!!!
