Irrfan seems to be making the most of his tryst with Hollywood. So much so that he is apparently preferring to give his dates to a Hollywood film — the same dates that were supposed to be given to a Bollywood film he'd said yes to earlier.
Sources tell us that the actor has opted out of director Shivam Nair's rustic romcom with Aditi Rao Hydari. Meanwhile, he's believed to be finalising a couple of films in the West. Besides, there is also talk that he might play a bigger role in the Amazing Spiderman's sequel, after an eight-minute part in Marc Webb's reboot of the franchise.
An industry insider tells us Irfan quit Shivam's movie some days ago. The movie, which was to be shot extensively in Lucknow, had the actor playing a light role after a considerable time. Irrfan was to play a brass band member who goes to weddings to woo girls. While he has worked together with Aditi previously in Yeh Saali Zindagi, this is the first time they were being paired together romantically. "Now, producer Anjum Rizvi and director Shivam are wondering whether to wait for Irrfan's dates or cast another actor in his place," says our source.
When contacted, Irrfan replied via a text message saying, "I'm waiting for the latest draft." But, when probed further about his Hollywood plans, he didn't revert to our query.
However, Rizvi confirmed that Irrfan might not act in his movie due to date issues. "I was told he had a couple of prior commitments. I guess I should be able confirm this in another two weeks or so," was all he said at this juncture
