Khushi placed her hand on her chest, feeling the loud pounding of her heart. What do you want to tell me, Arnavji? Are you going to tell me what I.. she smiled. She wiped the mirror clean and smiled again. She turned around and ran out the door.
"Life your life to the fullest every moment", Anjali said, tears running down her cheeks, holding Arnav's face in her hands. "Because you never know which moment might be your last. You should never let go of the one you love, the one who is closest to your heart, under any circumstances. Even if something even seems stupid, just listen to your heart".
"Now," Anjali had a faint smile on her face, as she wiped the tears away from his cheeks. "You go, I will get ready and come downstairs." Arnav got up from the floor, turned around and walked to the door. He stopped at the door and smiled, remembering Khushi and how he felt when he thought he had lost her. He walked out of the room.
"Khushiji", Khushi stopped as she heard NK's voice. She turned around and saw NK running towards her. "I need help. I mean, Akash.. he needs help". NK looked worried. "Nanheji, what happened?" "Akash can't find his turban. He doesn't remember where he left it".
Khushi opened her mouth wide. "What? Where did he leave it?" Khushi started to say something, when she remembered where she had to go. "Nanheji, but I have to go.."
"Khushiji, can you look for it upstairs, please. Maybe he left it in Nannav's room. I will go look for it in the living room." NK said quickly, turned around and ran away, worried.
"Nanheji", Khushi called after him. She shook her head and made an annoyed face. I guess I could quickly go check in Arnavji's room and then go to the terrace.
Khushi ran to Arnav's room and looked around the room for the turban. She stepped out into the poolside and looked around. She was about to turn around and run back into the room when she felt the fairy lights brush against her skin; she froze. Khushi took the fairy lights in her hand and remembered how Arnav had helped untangle her from the lights during Diwali. She smiled and closed her eyes, remembering how he had blown the dirt out of her eye. She opened her eyes, looked at the pool and touched her right cheek; she blushed, remembering how he kissed her. Her heart started beating wildly; she placed her hand on her heart and closed her eyes. She opened her eyes suddenly; she felt a breeze.
Arnav walked quickly down the corridor, smiling. He walked past the door to his room, when suddenly he felt a breeze. He stopped, walked back to the door and stepped inside. A wide smile appeared on his face. He walked towards the French doors, towards the girl dressed in an orange and purple salwar, whose back was facing him. He stepped out to the poolside, his heart beating fast in his chest.
Khushi blushed; her breathing quickened. She gulped and played with her dupatta nervously. "Khushi", he said softly. She froze. He walked towards her. "Khushi", he called her name again. She gulped and slowly turned around, avoiding his eyes, looking away shyly. He took another step towards her, smiling.
Khushi looked up into his eyes and stammered, nervously, "Arrnnavvji". He took another step and she looked down at his feet, before taking a step backward.
"Huh?" he said, smiling.
"You wanted to see me?"
He smiled and nodded. "Yes, I wanted to ask you something."
Khushi's face turned a bright crimson and she looked away. "What? What did you want to ask me?"
Arnav had a naughty smirk on his face as he leaned closer towards her. Khushi closed her eyes, her chest heaving with her quick breaths. He whispered softly, "When are you going to thank me for helping you today morning?"
Khushi opened her eyes wide and stared at him. "What?"
Arnav had a nonchalant look and a faint smile on his face. "Yes. I'm waiting." She looked at him confused and he asked her, with a smirk, "What? What did you think I was going to ask you?"
Khushi's expression changed from confusion to annoyance. "I didn't need your help. I would have done it alone." She looked away.
"You can't do anything alone, Khushi Kumari Gupta. You need my help. You needed me then, you need me now and you will need me in your life forever." Arnav said. If Khushi had looked into his eyes, past the naughty, arrogant smirk on his face, she would have seen the love in his eyes. He moved closer and placed his hands on her arms.
Khushi looked at him angrily and pushed his hands away. "I don't need your help, Mr. Raizada. Now let me go". She was not angry at Arnav. She was angry at herself, for thinking that Arnav was going to propose to her. "Nanheji will be waiting for me." She turned to walk away.
Arnav's eyes filled with fury, at the mention of NK. He grabbed her arms and pulled her close. "Khushi, how many times have I told you that when I am talking to you, to not look away. Don't you understand such a simple thing? I told you I wanted to talk to you. I am not finished yet". He screamed.
Khushi pressed her lips together angrily and then screamed back. "Really? What else do you want to tell me? Go ahead, tell me."
Arnav pulled her close and screamed, "I wanted to tell you that yes, it matters to me if you get engaged to someone else, if something were to happen to you .. it matters to me because.." Arnav stopped.
Khushi opened her eyes wide as he screamed and then her face filled with anger when he stopped. "Why? why does it matter to you?"
Arnav released her and stepped back, unsure of what to say. Khushi shook her head, disappointed. "You don't know why, do you? I have to go now." She turned around and started to walk away.
Arnav closed his eyes and curled his hands into fists as he saw her walk towards the room. He opened his eyes, took a few quick steps towards her and grabbed her arms and screamed, "Because I love you dammit."
Khushi looked at him, her eyes open wide in shock. Arnav looked at her, his face filled with fury. He released her, turned around and closed his eyes. When he opened his eyes, his face was still fuming with anger. Arnav started to walk towards the French door, when he felt someone grab his hand.
Arnav turned around slowly. His face softened as he saw the smile on Khushi's face, tears rolling down her cheeks. She slowly walked towards him, looking into his eyes. She threw her arms around him and burst into tears. He staggered back slightly, from the impact. Tears filled in Arnav's eyes and a smile appeared on his face as he put his arms around her and pulled her close in a tight embrace.
Khushi pulled away a few seconds later and they looked into each other's eyes. Khushi smiled. Arnav looked at her confused, unsure of what she was going to say. Her face turned a bright crimson as she said softly, "Hum bhi aapse I love you dammit." She giggled, turned around and ran into the room. Arnav's eyes opened wide. A wide smile appeared on his face, as he realized what she had said. He took a deep breath, looked up at the stars, smiled and walked back into the room after her.
Up in the terrace, shivering in the cold, sat a man, an evil grin on his face, waiting!
To be continued.
