Heyy Guys! :D So as promised here is the next chap and Quite long as well 😳
Chapter Length:2,247
Chapter 3: Soon To Be Good Friends
(Madhura's POV)
"Oh My God!" San exclaimed staring right behind me, I turned frowning as to what had caught her attention.
"It's an Audi R8 GT! Are you freaking kidding me?" San yelled as she turned to Abhinav excitement evident in her eyes. I glanced at the car and frowned, I didn't know much about them, but I wasn't stupid to not be able to recognize it as an expensive one.
I turned to meet Abhinav's gaze, he was quite amused by my nutcase of a sister.
"Yeah Barun's uncle gifted it to him" he replied holding back fits of laughter. His eyes crinkled with traces of joy and amusement, and that moment I felt amused too, God he was contagious. I felt annoyance pulse through at San's child-like behavior and Abhinav laughing alongside.
San was gushing like a kid on seeing the car. "I have drooled over this car dude! It's the latest 2012 model" she exclaimed. I rolled my eyes deciding it was time to intervene and stop San from embarrassing herself any further. She was such a kid at times! Okay scratch that, most of the times!
"San behave for god sake!" I whispered hoping Abhinav wouldn't hear me.
"It's okay" he smiled. Dang! He heard me, the warmth in his voice sent chills down my spine; I was still not able to throw off the searching gaze he had locked down on me moments ago. I averted my gaze from him and looked anywhere but at him. He simply didn't come across as good to me. Or maybe it was my biased opinion after the phone calls with him.
"This is Abhinav Shukla, May I speak to Mr Irani?"
"Am sorry, he's not available right now, you can leave a message, I will make sure he gets it"
"Are you his secretary?" the voice spoke crisply.
"No" I frowned.
"His assistant?" the man sounded annoyed.
"No"
"Then can I speak to them?" spoke the voice angered now
"Am here for that mister, Is there any message?"
"Yeah tell him to keep a better person for receiving calls in his absence"
"What do you-"
Beep the call ended.
Xoxox
"May I speak to Abhinav?" I spoke on the phone chewing at my bottom lip.
"Speaking" spoke a disgruntled voice.
"I am calling to inform you about a message from my fath- boss Mr Irani"
"Boss? I have spoken to you before haven't I...who are you again?"
"That's not important" I managed to muster.
"What is then?" asked the man seemingly interested now.
"He said he can make the arrangements you have asked for, and insists on you staying at ou-his place"
"I don't think we will be able to adjust at his place" he spoke defiantly "we have bought a house ...anyway convey my thanks I would get back to him soon" Beep.
How Rude!
"Would he mind giving me a ride someday?" San asked with a longing hope in her voice which must be really obvious to Abhinav too.
"Ofcourse not San, and you don't even know him" I trilled in a high voice, this girl was leaving no stone unturned in embarrassing herself. I could already imagine her digging her head into the cushion out of shame back at home. We rarely knew these guys!
"Well we will soon be good friends, so that shouldn't matter" Abhinav smiled. Okay Awkward! He was so rude on the phone, was he just simply annoyed before for some reason or is it now that he is trying to be all goody-good.
I threw him a questioning look and he mirrored mine.
"You mean you will give me a ride?" San asked surprised thankfully now calm.
"That entirely depends on Barun" he shook his head pocketing his hands as he gazed at us, there was no mistaking his urgency for us to leave.
"Will do, the first thing when I meet him" San grinned "Oh and that will be Tuesday night I guess"
I didn't miss the faint glimpse of worry and unease in his eyes, funny how San never spotted any of those, she was just rambling on and on. I had purposely dropped the idea of giving the invite; I didn't think he would like the idea.
"Tuesday night?" Abhinav repeated deep in thought.
"Dad's invite" I added crisply.
His gaze met mine and there was no doubt that he was highly disturbed by now. His eyes widened a bit as though a bulb just flashed over his head and suddenly his lips broke into an easy grin, my insides churned.
"It's you!" boomed his voice. "The phone calls!"
Dang right, it was me, Hello mister! Now you can drop the faade and be yourself so that I can ignore you for the rest of my life.
"I am sorry" wait was he saying sorry to me? Was I hearing it right? "but-" he continued "I don't think we will be able to make it, give my regards to Mr Irani" Yeah that wasn't for me, it was for refusing the invite. Thanks a bunch Mr. Arrogant!
"Oh no problem, will take your leave now" I mustered a sweet smile and nudged San to move not wanting to stay there another moment.
"Bye Abhinav" San sighed and headed towards the car tagging behind me. I felt completely dejected after meeting him, He had been an arrogant person on the phone but I thought of making it all good because he was apparently a family friend, from mom's side. I even arranged a nice food basket for him and he, he was least welcoming, added he laughed at San's stupid antics, amused he was...he must be thinking what a crackhead she is, I admit she is, but no one had the right to laugh at her like that, okay maybe I am being crazy but everything aside, at the end he refused the invite from dad too. Deep inside I knew I didn't like him, and hoped with all my might, that I have the least encounters with him. Something about him just didn't seem right.
San and I got into the car once again. "He was rude" I remarked once the engine roared to life and we were back on the road.
"Rude?" San murmured dubiously "I found him good and friendly"
"If you would stop ogling at the cars, you would know, every inch of him wanted us to leave"
"No, you are being biased coz of the phone calls"
"If you remember, I was the one who decided to arrange for this trip and the food basket was my idea too"
"Yeah but you couldn't get it off your head, and see the good in him" San replied casually.
Ugh. "San you are so blind"
"Come off it Em, he even said we will soon be friends"
"And then he refused the invite" I emphasized.
"He must be busy Tuesday night, and he had some work now too, hence the quick goodbye"
"Yeah particularly, why the hell are you defending him? He was even laughing at you!"
"Uh yeah that"
"Yeah, what about that?" I asked and tried my best to keep the laughter at bay. San was red as a tomato.
"I made a fool of myself, didn't I?" she asked in a soft groan.
I nodded and not able to hold it anymore burst into fits of laughter while San had Oh-mother-earth-swallow-me written all over her face.
xoxox
Abhinav hurried once the girls were out of sight, he had been distracted by their sudden appearance, talk about a cell phone, couldn't they call first? Anyways he thought rushing past the trees back in the forest; Barun must be waiting for him. He had already been late.
"What took you so long?" Barun asked as I joined him back. "I thought you went to send those people away" He was sitting at a log of wood, shredding a bunch of leaves in his hand.
"Guests" I murmured in response.
"Don't tell me, we know people here?" Barun asked his annoyance evident to me.
"Yeah, the Irani's whom we will soon befriend" surely he didn't like the sound of that. I knew it before he even spoke up.
"Your friends maybe" he retorted. "Why are we here again?"
"So that I can train you, this place is ideal for that"
"Which is apparently very important?"
"Very" I nodded.
"How come I didn't hear them and you did?" he asked with a slight head jerk. When we had been practicing I had heard the Irani's park infront of our house, and had rushed towards them.
"You are not strong enough" I mumbled as I placed the sharp-edged wooden chips we had made minutes back, in front of me. Barun took his position right at the center of the clear field we had created for practice. I could sense his emotions tingling on my fingertips. Passion. Fury. Good much needed during practice.
"Scars gone?" I asked.
"Yeah just a little black" Barun lifted his hand and checked the almost healed bruise he got from getting hit by a car few minutes back.
"Irresponsible of you to stand in the middle of a road to catch your breath, wound looks good, its healing quick now and you didn't even bleed"
"Well the car did get a few smudges of blood but they wouldn't notice, probably think its dirt" he shrugged "which it is" Barun sighed.
I knew at once what he meant; the worst for Barun had been the change in his Blood color from usual red to Black. Well he would just have to deal with it like I once did.
"Am just glad it healed quickly" I smiled hoping to distract him.
"I know right" He said hopefully. It felt good to see him so light and happy. Past days had been hard on him, which left him easily irritated.
I decided to lighten him up further; it was rare that I got my friend back.
"Just be careful, you don't want more people to think this place is haunted"
Just as I wished his grin widened in response "Sad, coz that's just what they thought." He paused "Pretty skoda driven by an amateur, it's a shame really"
"Skoda?" I asked surprised.
"Yeah, why?"
"Great you have met them, they were the Irani's"
"Oh! Soon to be friends? Didn't know you were looking for a date" Barun rubbed it in.
"Yeah right" I rolled my eyes annoyed at him for bringing up such a topic.
"You are in or want an out?" I asked.
"Out, I want nothing to do with them, you go ahead and get yourself a date" he sniggered.
"Shut up, let's focus shall we?" I asked getting back to the important task at hand.
"I owe you man" Barun sighed lifting the iron rod, strengthening his hold.
"You don't, this is my job" I clarified and started throwing the wooden chips towards his direction, aiming at his knee, hand, face, elbow, as I wished.
"Job?" he asked.
"Yeah, my job" I emphasized, continuing with the task.
Barun was a pro at cricket, so his skills were coming handy as he blocked and slashed at the sharp pieces.
"I don't know what you mean by that" he hinted wanting to talk about this whole deal, why was he here, why was I helping him? I chose to avoid his questions.
"The accident reminded me of that night" Barun made his second attempt to get some words out of me.
But talking about the accident was the last thing in my list of...um confessions? Anyways it was too soon to tell him anything, for now it was important for him to be focused on his abilities and powers, he was undergoing a change, adding mental stress to physical, would be the worst thing to do at the moment.
Barun sighed and I felt resignation and hurt replace the curiosity that had ignited in him a few minutes ago. Not again I didn't want him to get distracted now!
"Focus, three now" I ran in circles around him throwing the wooden chips faster such that three reached him at a go.
He did well in the first round. I halted and placed few more blocks in the enclosed circle.
Pangs of hurt and despair touched me my head snapped at Barun's direction. I hated it when he indulged in those thoughts. Shaking my head at his vulnerable self I quickened my work.
"I will be much faster this time" I spoke hoping to bring him back from his reverie. He nodded in response, I could still taste despair at the tip of my fingers. "Focus" I ordered. He didn't and the sharp edged chips hit one after the other at his knee. His knee buckled and in no time he was down. I could see the black staining his jeans and rushed towards him.
"Damn!" he sighed holding his knee firmly in his hands, ripping off whatever was left of the shredded jeans near his knee I quickly wiped the murky black blood with a spare cloth. "Focus Barun" I ordered.
"Hell it burns!" he groaned sweating profusely.
"Only better" I retorted examining his knee which had now started healing itself.
Barun gritted his teeth shooting me a death glare, a few seconds later with him having mended his knee, we resumed to practice.
