Hi guys! I just have one question..
When all the ladies were giving Anjali those gifts and what not..what were they whispering in her ears?

I asked my mom and she didn't know either as we are Punjabi not Hindu, so the ceremony differs I think..although I haven't been to many Baby Showers haha.

i'm gujarati..I had a babyshower when i was pregnant with my older son...I was dressed up but not like "bride'
We had the puja for me and the baby. I had my devar (hubby's younger bro) slap on my cheeks ((not tight slap but just for fun/touch with gulal), and passing the rice from my pallu to another woman's pallu who was already a mother. (not sure what was the purpose of each is)
but, i didn't have people coming up to me and whispering to me or giving me a gift in person.
they just attended the puja, had food, played games, and thats it.

They either whisper blessings for the mother/child or they give a quick bit of advice to the new mother.

I am from UP and godbharai is a big function in our family. the woman actually dresses up like a bride but she wears yellow coloured clothes. The dewar( husbands younger brother) whispers in the would be mother's ears whether the baby will be a boy or a girl. it is a rasam :)
