"Nupur! Nupur!!"

I turned around absentmindedly. Someone was calling out my name. The crowd was roaring with enthusiasm on the new Black eyed peas song. I turned back to my drink.

"One more Bucatti please!" I shouted over to the bar guy who with his hideous eyebrow shadingly eyed me.

"Nupur! Finally caught up with you. What's wrong? You hardly drink girl."

"Dia, my darling friend, I am not drinking. I am enjoying my life babes."

"Stop that and come outside with me."

"Why does everyone bosses me around?I am not moving my butt outta here."

"Nupur...look hon..."

"Dia look there!..That guy in blue checks! Isn't he so cute?"

"Hmm...well do you want an introduction? I know him ..Gary! hey..."

"No..Don't Dia.." I tugged her hand making her stop." I need air. It's suffocating inside. " I looked at her imploringly.

"Okay." She lend me her hand supporting me outside of The Grill.

The misty fog enveloped the twinkling street lights. The lamp posts were half- hidden in cloudy shades. I kept on walking as my feet dragged unknowingly of the path. Someone dawdled beside me . Dia was silently walking alongside of me. Finally I broke the silence.

"Do you know how beautiful life is?"

"Erm...yeah it is."

"So what is that makes life beautiful?"

"Happiness...Love...?"

"No babes...you are delusional...Money...it's all about the frigging money. Money is the solution for every problem these days. You can't give your son time? Give him a video game! You forgot your wife's birthday? Simply gift her a diamond set the next day. You run down someone driving dead-drunk? Just bribe the policeman! You want to take revenge from a guy who cheated on you? Use him for his own freaking money!...See you buy happiness and love with money."

"Nupur" She tightly clutched my arms and gently plodded me to move.

"Dia let me finish. It's hurting badly inside. The strength in me is washing away. How much I hate this guy! He is the reason for my broken dreams, my bleeding heart, cheater of my endless trust on him. He made me in a state from where there was no coming back. I tried to keep that hatred the sole reason of my survival. Swearing to myself to forget that bas***d. Consoled myself he was undeserving of my love. Now I have the chance to make his life hell. But I just can't!"

"Nupur it's going to rain. Get inside the car."

Tears rolled down my cheeks as I refused to hold my feelings to myself longer" You know it wouldn't take a second for me to mar his reputation with the business honchos and disturb his family. I can easily reveal to the entire world his secret contract marriage with me. But I can't!"

I fell to the ground on my knees as my limbs turned weak.

Dia raised me."Nupur do you still love him?" She looked intently in my eyes.

"If only I could! I see him all aloof in his own house trying the work he hated once to consume him entirely. He's refusing to take care of his health. He hardly eats or sleeps on time. He tries to be this suave guy infront of me smirking down my worth. But can he hide the saggy eyes he has started to develop? His haggard pensive face in the few moments I find him sitting alone in his study.Inspite of the intense hatred I bear for him, yet my heart cringes at his plight!"

"You are his legal wife for now, aren't you? Just force him to take proper rest."

"I have tried Dia. Not my best effort but I did try my part once only to be shoved on my face how much he hates me now!" I sighed in desperation.

"Does it hurt?"

"Surely if it doesn't make me happy, it must hurt somewhere."

"why did he marry you then?"

I started laughing like a maniac." His bloody joke of making fun of my plight I guess."

"Did he tell you anything about ...about her?" She whispered half 'afraid.

"Angelena? Why would he do that infront of me? She's out of town ...all I was told. Why would he bother telling me about her?"

"You know you were right when you left him. So why this weakening of soul? Don't fall for him again only to meet with despair. I know it's really tough to forget your first love but you do know why you have to, dear." She gently patted my shoulders.

"I know Dia. I know it very well. It's my entire self revolted against him. The early teenage crush has long died a gloomy death. I can hold myself against him now. It's just now how I had envisioned his being after our break-up."

"He is filthy rich mean business man now. From what rumors are to be believed into he's a ladies' man now."

"But why isn't he happy then? Why he seems so dissatisfied and alone? He can pretend whatever he wants but I can see through everything he puts up. Why is he making it so hard for me to hate him? "Finally I broke down.

"Nupur, don't cry honey, It won't wash away your grief. Tell me truly; are you ready to give him a second chance?"

I pondered at her question. This was the last I remembered before I could sense nothingness descend upon me.

The burning light irritated me. I tried to block them but the rays continued to harass me unperturbed.

"Get up lazy bum. It's already noon."

Mayank? Did I hear right? Instantly I woke up springing myself to a sitting position. I was lying sprawled upon the comfortable couch in his grand drawing room. My head ached badly from last night's drinking.

"Aaahhh..." I tried furrowing my brow to ease my pain."

"Here take these pills. Would ease your hangover."

"How am I here...Last night I..."

"Dia dropped you here. You were knocked out drunk. She left you on the couch. What's with you so much drinking these days? Found anyone?"

"You left me sleeping on the couch?"

"Should I have taken you to my bedroom and taken advantage of your unconscious state?"

"What??...No...I meant you could have helped me reach my own room."

"What do I look to you? Get this straight; I am the owner of the house. You are responsible for your own."Causally he turned around to leave.

"Can you lend me some of your cigarettes?"

He froze and slowly turned around."Did I hear that right?"

"Yes, you did darling. Now can you lend me some?"

"If so desperate, buy your own stock."

"I am starting from just now. I'll buy some later."

"What's got into you?" The casual pretense finally gone.

"Just trying to be responsible for my own self."

"Ha...try to get on my wrong side, you'd regret it big time."

" I am already regretting big time."

"Like your new attitude. Much better than the clumsy desperate self you had. Have you got this bold in the room too?"

"Poor you, can't prove it to you."

"If only your words were capable of being equal in action, I would pity myself."

"You have always underestimated me Mayank."

"Yes you are right wifey. I failed to make the right estimation of . Anyways get yourself a good leg wax." He looked down.

Following his gaze I hastily crossed my legs getting up. I started to make my way for the kitchen to grab some water. His stupid buffoonery only worsened my headache.

"Nupur, don't wait for me tonight. I am going out for dinner."

"Who gave you the wrong impression I'd wait for you? Do whatever you want."

"Really? I had a complaint from the butler you refuse to eat anything unless I arrive, he gets tired waiting upon you so late."

My cheeks reddened at getting caught" Umm...I like to eat late these days." I mumbled.

"Well...I was just saying." Smirking at me he went away.

He was going to some dinner tonight. Who was it? He had gone out hurriedly not caring his looks. He had a tux thrown causally upon him. Would he be so careless to meet his business associates like this? Could it be the reason was personal? Was it her finally? Letting curiosity get the better of him I decided to follow him.
