Chapter 6
What the heck did he think that she would listen and blindly follow to what he ordered. Hell no! Khushi Kumari Gupta did not just do what people ask her to do without a valid reason. And Arnav's reason of being bothered by di was not enough.
He asked to act like nearly strangers, well he was going to get the total opposite behavior now.
Khushi was not going to leave a single stone unturned in embarrassing Arnav Singh Raizada from today onwards.
She didnt really have a plan as to how she was going to do that but at whatever oppurtunity she got and whatever clicked her mind, she would follow it.
As an official stamp on a document, Khushi gulped down the glass of milk as in sealing the deal in her head.
Wiping her mouth with the back of her hand, she got up from the table to find something to do and saw Arnav looking at her with his typical what the expression.
She quickly smiled widely, not wanting him to read her face which had her thoughts written on it clearly.
"Hey" she waved awkwardly and slipped away from his sight.
Arnav stared at her retreating back and slid into chair occupied by her few seconds ago.
~~~
Khushi sat on the bed patiently putting on her churidaar. These kind of shalwars were always hard to wear, but she loved them anyways.
Tonight was the sangeet of Raizada's friend's kid. Khushi had no idea who, but she agreed to tag along anyways, who would miss out the food, music and dance!
She planned to leave her long hair open, though it was real hard to manage, and finished off getting ready by minimum make up, knowing it would come up of at the end of dancing. Oh yeah Khushi Kumari Gupta absolutely loved to dance and she did it by putting in her mind and soul completely.
"Khushi are you read?" Anjali walked in to the room.
"Yes di!" Khushi twirled in a circle showing off her red and gold anarkali.
"Oh wow Khushi, you look gorgeous!" Anjali gushed.
"Thank you! Its all because of the dress, its beautiful. Thank you so much for getting it for me di" Khushi gave a big bear hug to Anjali.
Laughing Anjali pushed a happy and real excited away, "I am glad you liked it and youre welcome."
Khushi checked her clutch for the necessary items and left with the family for the party, a tiny hope poking inside her for him to be also be there.
She taken aback by how the little hope was fulfilled within a minute. There he was standing next to suv talking to somebody on his phone. As usual was dressed in a suit, but whatever he was at least going to come.
"Chotte you are coming with us?" nani asked confused.
"O.m.geee Arnav beta you will be accompanying us to a sangeet!" mami exclaimed eyes wide.
Anjali stood looking at her brother with a small unsure smile on her face.
"Yeah I am. Why are all of you surprised, dont you guys already know I do things according to my mood?" Arnav asked matter of factly.
"Yeahhh but your mood never before made you go to pre wedding parties before" mami said touching her chin in a thoughtful manner.
"Ugh whatever. Shall we leave now or would like to be late?" he questioned.
"Hai Devi Maiyya! Aaarnaaav!! I am so happy youre coming with us!" Khushi squealed so loudly, making everyone stop in their tracks and then in a flash she had her arms around Arnav's neck.
"What the!" Arnav staggered behind.
Blushing furiously she pushed her away from him with a scowl on his face.
"Why on earth did you have to hug for that?" he growled at her.
"Jeez I was just expressing how happy I am" she pouted innocently.
"Oh let it go Khushi, you know he is like that" nani closed the topic.
"I know. Laad governor!" Khushi muttered under her breath.
"Excuse me?" Arnav raised his eyebrows at her.
"Huh? Nothing...lets go" she smiled and quickly sat in the car.
~~~
That girl was insane. In front of so many people she was standing in the middle with other crazy girls and dancing her life away.
She looked like a complete joker with those moves but he couldnt help smiling and maybe checking out a little. It was her fault, why would one move their hips and chest like that. Her body was in control of her, following beat for beat very precisley.
He was annoyed at her random stunt earlier, a hug in front of everyone. He could have bet anything he saw di smile and shadow of understanding pass through her eyes.
Hopefully she wouldnt think there was something going on between and Khushi. He only wanted to be friends with her. Yeah she was a good girl but too loud and controlling for him, which was kind of attractive.
"What the" he whispered surprised at the random thought. Her loud sharp mouth attractive? Hell no!
He realized his brain was not his side, as the next thought was double crazy.
I do not get tempted to kiss her mouth shut whenever it goes on like a round of rapid fire. For a minute he stood there arguing with his brain.
It would have been continued but the devil came and pulled her into the dancing.
"Arnav! Dance with me" she yelled in his ear.
Arnav frantically looked around him, oh boy!
"I dont dance" he yelled at her awkwardly.
Khushi stopped mid way of her bhangra and stared at him weirdly.
"You dont dance?" she asked in a hushed tone which Arnav could not hear but understood by the movement of her lips.
She held his hand and dragged him out of the crowded area. Grabbing two glasses of drink, they made their way out into the garden.
She sat on the grass and patted at the spot next to her, silently asking him to join her.
He opened the buttons of his coat and with difficulty sat down.
Handing him the glass she asked him again, "you dont dance?"
"No i dont" he sighed in a no big deal way.
"Why not?"
"Because...umm I dont know how to?" he shrugged his shoulders.
"What do you mean you dont know how to. Everyone can dance, all you gotta do is move your body according to the music" she explained.
"Yeahhh I saw how you were dancing..." he trailed.
"Oye I dance fantastic!" Khushi said in a fake thick voice.
"Yep, it was quite an entertainment" Arnav nodded his head in approval.
"Oh yeah! I can be more entertaining as well" she gloated.
"Aahh can you?" he smirked and raised his eyebrows.
Blushing, she snapped at him, "shutup!"
The snap, snapped him out of the good mood and he remembered her hug.
"I thought I said dont be too close in front of family, then why did you..."
"Oh because I dont find your reason legit enough. So I am going to do the opposite" she cut him off.
"What the"
"Get over your what the what the and grow some balls" she rolled her eyes.
"What did you say!?"
"Oh yoy didnt hear? I said grow some balls" she gave him an evil smile.
"Thanks for the advice, but I do have balls which are much bigger than yours!" he gritted out angrily.
"Uuhhh girls dont have balls Arnav" Khushi said with a sympathic face.
He glared at her for making fun of him as she rolled with laughter.
Her laughter was not stopping and it was sending is his temper to the edge. Just as he was about to yell at her, he stopped. Her beauty made him still, she got infectious and he started laughing along with her.
They lay on the ground holding their stomachs which were hurting now.
Arnav first stood up and gave Khushi a hand to pull her up.
She rested her hand on his shoulder for support as her other smoothed out the wrinkles and brushed off the dirt from her dress.
She felt his eyes boring into her and titled her face with a questioning look.
It was not hard to understand what was written in his eyes as the same message came into hers.
She felt him pull her closer, their lips an inch away and warm breathes fanning faces.
Just as his mouth brushed against hers, the drums from inside the hall started loudly, making them jump apart.
"What the" Arnav said again.
He forgot half his brain was not with him. He did not realize what he was doing.
On the other hand, Khushi felt blood rush to her face. She was warm all over and flustered, but she didnt miss his what the and the slight angry expression.
"I-I am sorry" he told her looking at the bush next to him.
"Its fine. Lets go inside" she smiled at him and the lead the way back into the party.
