Wooden Crutches..Humble request to everyone: Please tone down the GH jokes, will ya? It is okay to criticize the work but there is no need to get personal. It is a public forum and I don't want any unnecessary trouble. I am the guiltiest of all for indulging in these discussions so I am putting an end to it. I hope you'd do the same. If you still think you should be allowed to make any remarks, fine it is your right to voice your opinion but please keep my name out of it, I think it is only fair. The jurmana was supposed to be a fun, humorous and satirical post which was taken in the wrong context and perhaps I encouraged it to a certain extent a few days ago. But now I respectfully ask everyone to refrain from associating my name with any comments. Thank you for understanding. On to the episode...
I guess a necessary evil for those who wanted the "suspense" to end. To me, it was nothing more than an insult to an average viewer's intelligence. Come on, did you really think no one knew about Shyam and Dadi? My dad who doesn't watch the show had to sit through Shyam ouster because of me, so he knows the characters. Last week poor guy sat through Dadi's antics because of me again. He took one look at Dadi and Anjali and said "Dadi ko Shyam nay bheja hai, she will bring him back." So there! so much for your suspense. Somehow saying 'I told you so!' doesn't quiet say it. I did a few analyses over 3 weeks ago that played out to the T today. Some of the words were even the same, FINE! CVs credit nahi daina tau at least give a half decent episode, I won't ask for royalties. Nothing coherent from me today, just random jot-downs:
Saving graces:1. Regardless of a semi-psycho hormonal lady or biwi ki saut, two things were kept consistent with Anjali's character: her insecurity and abandonment issues which are predominant in ASR as well but they both deal with them differently. Today was a reaffirmation of this:
'Dadi HUMARAY liye aai..' 'HUMARAY pati HUM say bohat pyar kartay hain'. If nothing else, this should at least give everyone an idea that this woman as of now, is weak and will always be looking for a crutch. In one of my earlier posts, I had said Anjali is emotionally crippled and Dadi has provided her the much needed crutch. What Anjali doesn't understand is even the wooden crutch is not that strong and prone to go weak by continuous exposure to water! the same water that also cleanses everything. Anjali as Steel Magnolia? Sorry Doc - unless something earth shattering happens, a flimsy, dependent and spineless woman is what we will get. But people can still hope shope. Funny how the creator of the show is a woman herself. I hope Gul can prove me wrong but I probably would've moved on by the time Gul proves a point. Slow and steady may win you the TRP race but not my loyalty.
2. Khushi taking the initiative and asking ASR out on a date and that too with proper haq. Really liked how she called him back just to make sure he is coming, totally in character for Khushi. ASR fussing over what to wear. Seemed like a 'normal' thing any normal couple would do. Only if these moments weren't such a rarity.
3. Cute conversation between Payal and Khushi. I hope they maintain the sisterly bond and not the typical sister-in-law crap.
Points to ponder:1. Said this a million times, saying it again - Dadi was always here on the pretext of Shyam and 'woh aurat' being Khushi. Dadi's royal blood can never be at fault. ASR is a man, can easily be swayed by the girl next door but Dadi will not have it. Her potha and pothi's lives have been turned upside down based on some 'galat fehmi' which needs to be cleared. No one is directly pointing fingers yet but is it explicitly needed? No. Just like the "suspense" was futile, so is this. For Dadi, Khushi is the culprit, the root of 'galat fehmi'. Dadi only wants Arnav and Anjali's khushi but for Dadi, Arnav's khushi can't and shouldn't be Khushi Kumari Gupta. Dadi will unite heaven and earth to stop this wedding. She can't stop ASR but she can cause enough damage to Khushi. Will it happen or not, remains to be seen. Yeah yeah - the wedding has to happen because of the budget and all but if it is literally love in the time cholera, I really don't care.
2. Only Dadi can understand Shyam - clearly indicative of the past. Said this before too, Dadi will not have a broken home. She is not going to let history repeat itself. For Anjali to tell Shyam that only Dadi can understand him also brings up the past from Anjali's POV. Anjali thinks Dadi knows what happened in the past was not right, the decision Arnav took was wrong and only Dadi can stop it from happening again. Also, it ties Shyam to the Raizada/Malik past as well, hence the desperation for revenge, although his motive is still unclear.
3. Dadi's character was brought in to garner TRPs but it was poorly executed and even the TRP aunties were not digging it. To fight ASR, you have to have an equally cunning villain hence Shyam's entry was preponed. The story line is still the same on this, it was just expedited. Shyam couldn't barge into RM just on the support of Anajli alone, he needed another pawn, another support system, that's where Dadi came in. Shyam is the main villain with Dadi as a sidekick. One can argue that Dadi is not evil, just misinformed but I can also argue that actions matter more than words. Evil or not is a matter of perspective based on one's belief system.
4. From what has been shown so far, Shyam is the one who contacted Anjali and not the other way around. why didn't Anjali contact Shyam? Was she completely mentally unstable to do so? or deep down she believed her brother? The answer to these questions will determine the character of Anjali as a maha-satyanash! or a force to be reckoned with. If she was too shaken up to think straight than there is no hope. If she has even an iota of doubt about the 'truth' and 'galat fehmi', maybe, just maybe she can be redeemed. Hope shope for those who care, I don't.
5. Shyam is going to enter after a dhamaka. Think about this for a second. As long as ASR is in the house, Shyam can't come without getting fully exposed. He can only enter when a) ASR is not around and b) Anjali can't be handled by anyone and a man is needed in RM. There was a TB spoiler about a potential accident. I would suggest don't disregard it completely. It might not be a bad idea to prepare yourself for more episodes with less of screen time from certain "someone". Just sayin'. Those who are smart enough will figure this out, acting is a job and people do want to make money at the end. Khaali fan support per kuch nahi hota and anyone who thinks like that is totally naive. Of course there can be other ways for Shyam to cause the dhamaka but pre-conditions for his entrance will still be the same - No ASR and a man is desperately needed at RM. So keep an open mind and expectations low, just a friendly advice! š
6. Khushi still feels guilty about Anjali. She knows Anjali's family is not complete, her child needs a father. Once Shyam comes back, will Khushi convince ASR to let Shyam stay, Di kay liye? All signs are leading to this mahaanta again.
7. Garima's plans are thwarted once again. Bua ji said
'Khushi Arnav babua tumhari Khushi kay liye kuch bhi kar saktay hain'. Trains are not running for another 2-3 days. What will Garima do? Will ASR finally step in? Sore point: Garima is having mini-heart attacks every microsecond but neither Bua ji nor Khushi is latching on to this, logic boatwa has holes and it is sinking in the drool puddle.
8. Found out today that BV wedding is happening either next week or week after. The ex-hubby is coming back to lash out and the audience is loving it. There is no way IPK can compete with that so even more dud episodes to follow. Once BV gets married, maybe ASR and KKG will have their turn.
Even after painstakingly analyzing the episode, my reaction is still the same:
I really don't care. The story is no longer about Arnav and Khushi.Final note: I am taking a break from posting regularly on the hangout as I am having a hard time enjoying the show. Members here and in the main forum are able to rejoice in the upcoming wedding, more power to you all but I continuously fail to see the 'pick me up' factor in the episodes. Ranting day after day is becoming monotonous and all the negativity doesn't do anyone any good. The show that I fell in love with has slipped through the cracks so much so that my patience has run thin to see it all pieced back together. I didn't expect a full on love story however I did hope for balance, defined characters and a hatke story which will set it apart from other daily soaps. Unfortunately, I put more faith in the CVs than they put in themselves. Like Sari said, M&B is out and S&B is in. I will stop by the hangout to read my daily doses (day is incomplete without Docgirl's post among others!), after all hangout ko chodna mushkil hi nahi namumkin hai. If the show picks up, I'll be back because I love writing. Till then...au revoir!
