If you are a cine fan, it will not take much time to recollect that Shah Rukh Khan was a sports buff during his days in Delhi. Gradually, his busy schedule hardly left any time for his passion.
However - and surprising for someone so into sports - the actor had never really taken keen interest in body building, not even when hitting the gym was the buzzword in tinselville.
With 'Asoka', the 'almost impossible sounding' metamorphosis occurred.
That's when Prashant Sawant entered SRK's world. Five years down the line, Sawant is part of the superstar's close coterie, a friend, a confidant but above everything else, a family member. If SRK is looking fit as a fiddle in his current releases it's all thanks to Sawant.
Quite like his acting skills, Shah Rukh works out in the gym with all honesty.
"He mostly works out in the night, and rarely does he bunk a schedule if he's in Mumbai. His children drop in at times but he concentrates on his workouts. He exercises for about an hour and half and he wakes up early too," says Sawant.
He adds that SRK doesn't aspire to have a physique like Salman Khan. "Shah Rukh has his own personality," he adds.
Since the actor has a back problem, Sawant puts him through special exercises.
"He does leg, and back exercises and the stress is on cardiovascular workouts. He emphasises on chest and bicep exercises too. His back is looking strong now," explains Sawant.
As for a diet, it's chicken, and lots of salads and juices for SRK.
Quite unknown to many, Khan has helped Sawant set up his Juhu gym. "Shah Rukh has always been there as a friend, and he has supported me throughout. He has helped me with starting the gym too," says Sawant.
