The next day Geet woke up with the heavy head. Her family was back. After freshening up, she went downstairs, where Mr Handa and Heer were sitting on the dining table.

Geet could feel that there was something different about the day but couldn't guess the actual reason. She sat down quietly on the table and realized that everything was the same, apart from her. It was she, who was feeling different.

Why am I feeling different, I mean I am little tired that is usual, well little irritated too. But the way I am feeling, I don't know what it is. Her thoughts wondered to that rude intruder, she had met last night.

"Geet, wake up from your day dreaming. You are getting late for your office." Heer said, breaking her reverie. Geet took a sandwich and started nibbling it silently.

"Enough of this office office now, you can stop going to the office if you want. In fact, I don't like this job at all, crime reporter. I am always scared what sort of people may come across your path." Her mother, Prena, commented, coming out of the kitchen.

Geet rolled her eyes, for it was her mother's daily routine to curse her job. But her dad smiled because he had always been supporting her.

"Mom is right dee, and I think I should give you a very important and reliable forecast." Heer said smiling evilly.

"Geet Handa, getting engaged to doctor, Karan Mishra this weekend," Heer announced happily and Geet ignored her, assuming it to be her teasing. Heer always loved to tease her.

"Shut up Heer, this is a very bad joke." Geet said and then her eyes strode to her mom and then her dad. Mr Handa was very composed and calm, and her mother was staring at her, as if she had said something prohibited.

"This is not a joke, we asked you 100 times that if you like someone, tell us. But there was no answer, so we have chosen a boy for you and you are getting engaged." Her mom answered decisively.

She swallowed the billowing lump, forming in her throat. It was not happening. Marriage was not the only thing in life and marrying some random guy whom she barely knew was totally intolerable for her.

"Mom, this is simply not happening. I have a job and I have some other important work to be done, marriage can wait."

"Yes, it can but we can't." Her mother replied,

"Not especially after what Payal did." Everyone was silent because they all avoided taking her name. No one had mentioned her in months and today her name had brought that matter into limelight again.

"I won't marry," Geet said.

"Especially, after what Payal did. Not, until I find her, not until I make sure she is fine. I won't marry and I won't get engaged to any man whose first step would be to put restrictions on me. I don't want an excessive baggage. I won't take any big step in my life until I find Payal."

Her dream to prove herself was also not fulfilled till now. She wanted to prove that she was like a son for her family and she had vowed that one day she would show this world that she can do a lot despite being a girl.

But there was more to this Geet Handa, who smiled and always looked calm. The person whom she loved most, Payal was missing from almost a year now. Her parents wanted to her to get married to a person with whom she was engaged since childhood but she wanted to get married to the man she loved.

She begged Mr Handa, but her marriage was fixed without her consent. Mr Handa didn't bother to meet the boy with whom she wanted to get married. And one day the only thing they found was a letter that was leaving the house and was getting married to the person she loved.

Since then there was no news from her side. They tried to find her but nothing happened. Finally, everyone gave up, assuming that Payal has left them. But Geet couldn't give up on her. She was searching for her day and night. Geet knew that Payal must have contacted her, if she was fine. There was something wrong, seriously wrong.

But after that incident, no one talked about her. They all pretended as if nothing had happened. But deep down that scar was still fresh, ready to bleed at the slighted scratch.

"Enough, I don't want to hear her name," Mr Handa thundered, surprising everyone. He was mostly calmed and always took Geet's side.

"Why dad? She is a part of our family, she is your daughter and that reality can't be changed, no matter how much you deny. We all are behaving as if she doesn't exist. Yes she did wrong. She was not brave enough to stand up and fight against you all, but she was also not weak enough to leave the person she loved. She had chosen the wrong but easiest way. I wish she had known that sometime easiest options are not the best one. But does that mean that we should just scrape her out of our lives. This would be another easy but wrong option." She tried her best to explain but Handa was broken from inside. After Payal's incident, he was scared that his other daughters would end up making wrong choices, doing wrong things.

"You are getting engaged this weekend, that's final." Handa said, rising from his place. The way her father said this, there was no room for denial. Right now he was different and it scared Geet. She knew that her denial would flare that fear.

It's just engagement, I still have few days and I will find a way out. Geet thought, taking her bag from the table as she made her way towards the office.

***

Her office was as usual noisy. Not a single soul in the office noticed her existence as she made her way to her seat, passing between narrow spaces in between the desks. She threw her bag, roughly on the table. Vicky was already sitting on his desk that was on right side of Geet's.

"Shoot it," Vicky said, glancing at her. She was clearly distressed.

"I am getting engaged this weekend like a scapegoat or whatever. There is no way out. I still have to find Payal. It's been almost a year that she has been missing. And that CD is also gone, it means we have no news and our jobs are also at stake." Geet listed all the problems in a single breath.

"What CD gone? How and when?" Vicky asked, bringing his chair closer to Geet.

"Well last night, and that MSK, he was following us and he came inside my house, after you left." Geet said, taking out business magazines.

"Geet, you were alone at your home, right? Did he misbehave? I mean," Vicky was worried about her safety. That guy had kissed her on the first meeting and he for sure couldn't be trusted.

"No, he didn't, he just got that CD.. and holy cow," She exclaimed, gazing at the magazine in her hand.

"He was right. Oh, I wish we were page 3 reporters rather than crime reporters. Vicky, he is Maan singh Khurana, the number one businessman of India. And there must be something in that CD and why the hell was he meeting up with anna gang. Oh my God, so much mystery. We missed story of the year." Geet said, averting her gaze from the magazine.

Her office phone rang, interrupting their conversation, Geet grabbed the phone and Vicky took the magazine from her hand. They had indeed missed a big story.

"What, where? I am coming there, right now. I don't care, I said right now." Geet said, putting down the receiver and grabbing her things from the desk.

"I got a lead, someone saw Payal in Shimla, in some farmhouse. It was when she left the house. I think we can sure find her or something about her whereabouts from there."

"Great, boss has given us an assignment and that is related to Shimla. Let's go, we can do the two things together. This time I will make a proper video." Vicky said and then bit his tongue, realizing that he shouldn't have reminded her of that video.

"Yeah, I know," Geet said, glaring him angrily.

"It means you saw it. Sorry, I was like nervous and didn't know how to react." Vicky said, knowing that she must have seen that CD. He knew he should have stopped recording but it was a shock for him as well. He should have stopped recoding but his mind gave up and he couldn't do anything but to stand there with his camera in his hands.

They both strode out of the office, and this time they both wanted to succeed. In bringing back Payal as well as finding some happening story.

Precap:

Any guesses how will they meet?
