Karan Wahi says no to a TV show!

Karan Wahi, the Remix heartthrob who was being considered as the protagonist for Balaji's new show Kis Rishtey Se has reportedly turned down the offer! The lad was offered this new soap a few weeks back and was given time to think over. He finally reached a decision after mulling over the offer for a week.

Karan who started off his career with the teen show Remix on Star One desperately needed a break after working non-stop for one and a half years. "This was the sole reason of turning it down. Had I taken it up, I am very sure I wouldn't have given 100 per cent to it. I have been working for long now and I have been away from my hometown (Delhi). I want to be here with my family and friends for a while atleast," revealed Karan in a telephonic interview.

Saying no to Balaji is no easy task! Was it difficult for him to turn down a tempting offer? Admits Karan: "Extremely difficult. The fact is that most of the actors want to work with Balaji, and when I got this offer at a very early stage of my career I was thrilled. But what is the point of taking it up and cribbing after a few months."

He adds. "Balaji was very keen on having me on the show. And when I said a no, they called me again after two weeks and asked me to think over once again! It feels very nice. And I am sure they will understand."

The creative head of the soap, Ikshita confirms the news. "Yes, he is not going to be a part of the show, things didn't work out!"

At present, Karan is in Delhi spending quality time with his family and friends. "As it's Raksha Bandhan today, I am surrounded with my demanding sisters. I am having a gala time," he happily told TellyChakkar.com.

Karan plans to come down to Mumbai after a month, and expects some good work to come his way. Wah Karan, we say!

Remix- all mixed up!

ANKUSH ARORA

Every evening at eight, all Remix aficionados tune in to Star One to get the latest on the lives of the brats of Maurya High School.

The show depicts the insecurities, dilemmas, rivalries and ambitions (one wonders whether they have any) of the students hailing from different backgrounds, primarily the rich class. Unfortunately, this doesn't go beyond relationships, chasing the opposite sex, petty skirmishes, late night parties, drugs, secret groups, and the most recent - elopement. The show has no storyline, with all characters 'weirdoes', to use their cool-dude language. While the younger generation enjoys the show, parents object to it. But they need to do a rethink because their child could be meeting any number of people following the lifestyle the serial depicts.

According to Mini Raj,a DU student, "The show projects a wrong picture of today's youth. It is for the parents to understand that their child has a brain of his/her own and would not get influenced easily by such shows." The main flaw of Remix is its stereotypical representation of the youth. All characters, though students of eleventh and twelfth standard, are presented as mature and lack the innocence of school-going children. Even the issues they get entangled in are typically those faced by an adult. Thank God they show uniform-clad students - that is the only indication of their being in school!

The makers of Remix have chosen to attract audiences by depicting today's youth as dissipated,mis-guided and over-pampered. It is time they understood that the younger generation can think and act beyond parties and friends.

Remix is a break from the never-ending saas-bahu sagas. However, that does not mean the show has outdone or outshone the latter. It, therefore, should be taken with a pinch of salt, as it has nothing meaty to dish out.

Navratri revelry for telly stars!

The Navratri fever is very much soaring! And our telly stars too gear up for the festival - some do a guest appearance, some give a captivating performance, some judge the dancing sessions, while some simply chill with their friends!

Riya V. Anandwala quizzes some television celebs about what excites them when it comes to this nine nights fete, what childhood memories does it fetch and where they'll be performing this year!

Shweta Gulati
Relevance: Dandiya is a very colourful festival.
Memories: College days were a lot of fun during this occasion. In the initial two years of graduation we did a lot of dressing up - the right outfit and the right accessories! But after a while we used the liberty of the extended deadline to go clubbing, as we were not allowed to party that frequently. And it was the only way out.
This year: I'll be visiting a few cities in India to perform as well as to judge.

Snakes for Lunch? Why not!

Geminis love to experiment with food and are ready to try anything at least once

Third in the constellation of the zodiac, Geminis are great foodies, always adventurous and considered to be lucky when it comes to diet and weight loss. By virtue of their birth sign, they have a fast metabolism rate that burns calories quickly, and hence can afford to gorge on food. And when it comes to trying out new stuff, they're willing to chew on almost anything!
Kanchi Kaul is a true blue Gemini as she confesses, "I love good food and if I eat, I feel happy. I have tasted a snake dish in Bangkok! It was a dry dish with some sauce, it was just okay and I did not find it as delicious as I had expected. But what I love and find yummy is gurda — just give them plain and I will eat it!" And since Kanchi does not have the tendency to put on weight, this adventurous foodie happily goes around trying different cuisines each day.
Neena Gupta loves Gujarati thali with its wide range of farsans, bhajis, dals, kichdi, sweet boondis and besan laddoos. "I love dosas, vada pav and among cuisines, it has to be Indian and Italian for me. On an everyday basis, I am a very basic dal-chawal person," reveals Nina. Gemini also stands for dual personality and who could fit the bill
more than Bobby Darling! Bobby admits to being a big foodie, "I am fond of very spicy food and can cook exotic food myself. Among unusual foods, I love stuffed karelas." Eating out 4 to 5 times a week is de riguer for Bobby and to keep his weight in check, it is drinking hot water immediately after meals that helps keep him trim.
Rasik Dave, Ketaki Dave's husband, is quite intrepid when it comes to tasting different food but goes more for continental, Mexican and Italian. This self-confessed foodie has "not one but all of 32 sweet teeth and gorges on puranpolis and gulab jamuns. Indian chicken curry made by my wife is my favourite." Once by chance, he tasted a wild duck dish in London, which he found irresistible and yummy and is still in search of that exotic dish everywhere. There are a few who are not experimental though and Pallavi Kulkarni falls into this category. "I settle for non-veg and Italian. I eat what is tried and tested. Even when abroad, I always opt for the safest bet, like chicken." She indulges her sweet tooth in rasgullas and tiramisu. Another nonfoodie Gemini is Shweta Gulati, Tia of Remix fame, who goes for Italian and "loves Thai curries at my friend's place. But food is never in mind and I can even go without eating for an entire day. A glass of watermelon juice is what I have everyday and the only unusual beverage I can boast of having is aloe vera juice for health reasons, but I hate its taste."
So what if some prefer to stick by their neembu panis and dal-chawal? When it comes to experimenting with the fork and knife, Geminis certainly know how to go the whole way!

Spin doctors
Achala Sachdev

Soniya Kapuur with Priya Wal
They're not exact copies, but those dresses sure look similar. And our ladies definitely know how to put a spin on things, don't they? So while Soniya Kapuur wore her dress the usual way flaunting her shapely legs, Achala Sachdev decided to team hers with a pair of jeans. A great way to wear similar stuff, that too at the same event, eh?

Now that's what we call smart dressing, gals.
