A few thoughts about the actors and the characters they portrayed today ' all really well done.
Hiten played the dad to perfection ' the swallowing, the imperceptible shift in glances, the worried look, he donned the role of Manav like a second skin today. His gentle concern for Purvi at the beginning of the hospital scene which turned into an indiscernible distance when she makes reference to Arjun, his darting looks at Ovi when she threatens Purvi, his consoling his distraught daughter, the exchange of glances between Archana and him when Ovi returns to his arms after boldly exhibiting her bitterness, his discomfiture at being privy to Arjun's and Purvi's conversation within the room, his look at Tej to see how she is taking it to his walking out of the room after Ovi, all deserve full marks.
Rithvik was the hero today as DK told an unconscious Arjun, he has done his dad and his mom proud. He throws propriety to the winds (as he always has done and always will do, sigh!) as he calls out Purvi's name and beckons her to him. The exchange of sweet nothings between them (what else can you call it even though it was the most mundane exchange of enquiries on mutual well-being) was so natural, he has no thought for anyone else in the room, a propensity to disregard all else, even himself when it comes to this girl he has given his heart to, was so revealing. He loves her and cares not if the world knows about it or is it that in his mind, no world exists beyond his Purvi?
Asha did Purvi more than justice today. Her holding back her emotions in the face of Ovi's accusation, her hesitation in entering the room, her glance at Ovi's face when Arjun stretched out his hand to her and then her total oblivion to the world around them as she talks in that sweet, little girl voice that she seems to reserve for him alone. The two were ensconced in a private little universe even as the others looked on.
Tej was just Tej, collected, mature, measuring the expressions on Purvi's and Arjun's faces. She has realized this is not the same boy they had to trick into calling or spending time with her sister, Ovi. This is a man head over heels in love, so much in love that he is prepared to sacrifice his everything for the girl he loves, his comfort, his habits, his career, his very life.
DK overhears Arjun and realizes the depth of the love his son as for this middle class sanskari girl, sanskari she is, she does care for Ovi's pain, why else would she allow Ovi to trip in front of her into the room and hesitate to place her hand or go near her love?
Last but not least, Shruthi was wonderful as Ovi. When an actress plays the role so well, we, the viewers empathize, dislike, or rail at her. Ovi makes us do all that. Her pain is palpable, this is her best friend, her love of years and her dad is aware of her anguish, perhaps, that is why he is unable to jerk her back to reality by telling her that said young man has given his heart into the safe-keeping of another girl. The way she berates Purvi then retreats into the safe haven of her dad's arms was like that of a child that performs her bit then goes back into hiding in her parents' arms. She is very much a child, has not grown up except for flashes of the woman who has been scorned. She looks daggers at Purvi before she enters the room but the next moment trounces off to Arjun's bedside very reminiscent of a little girl. She switches again to woman, the way her fingers unclutch to clasp his outstretched hand, bespeak volumes. Her bitter look at Purvi when the latter slips her hand into Arjun's says it all.
Superb performances by all.
Ankita was beautiful as always and Archu was Purvi's mom to the T, her gathering her child, her stepping close to Purvi at Ovi's accusation, her step forward towards Ovi as she walks off, her guilt ridden look at the end, were all par excellence.
Aside: by the look on her face, I don't think Archana is going to retract ' the challenge still stands. I do hope DK will clarify the Churan matter on Monday and inform Archana as well as Arjun that he has reclaimed Arjun's money from the hospital by giving DK's own and paying in full for the little boy's operation. This way, Arjun can fairly win his challenge and Archana will not lose face either. Arjun would score doubly, by having collected the 10K and two bullets for Purvi. Can't beat that for a character reference in an intended groom.
