He waved at me again. I was about to wave back with a smile when he immediately indicated me to somebody else , with his gesticulations , he wanted me to meet somebody and there I saw a bunch of five girls ogling me & giggling among themselves. They strolled towards me & one of them , having a cute smile extended her hand , "Hi Im Shweta" .

"Im Aarti."

"Yup I know. Yash talks a lot about you."

Her words just didn't sink , I sniffed in a deep breath & tried my best to maintain my quietude. They were just staring me making me feel uncomfortable. Shweta broke in , "So Aarti. Would you like to be our friend?"

I felt like a small kid studying in montessori where parents of fellow mates fondle our hairs & say this to make us , 'comfortable'. Replying to such dense question was out of my prejudiced , I gave a smile instead & shook hands with them.

I looked at Yash who was gawking us from a distance & tried to reason out possible reasons of his absence from my virtual dream land. He wasn't upset with me , that was clear then what was hindering him to come online? He made me absolutely fanatical about him & then just vanished. I could see him daily , but had no courage to go near to him and ask , "Yash! Why are you doing this? Why aren't you coming online?"

The same day we were having are computer class in the lab when Maya (The Bengali bomb shell of our class with dusky yet drop dead gorgeous look. Guys used to die on her single sight) asked me to go out & meet Yash. I knew Yash & Maya knew each other , after all Maya too was one of the leading singers of our school & my heart willingly concurred what she said. That moment was precious , 'Yash wants to meet me' , I keep uttering this to myself.

"But Maya! What will I say to Ma'am?"

"Ask her that want to go to drink water. As simple as that."

I stood on my trembling feet , was granted the permission & ran out of computer lab , but there was no Yash. A strong pat on my shoulder shuddered me.

"Sarwar! You?"

(Sarwar = One of the captains of our school , thoroughly notorious & scandalous)

"Hey Aarti! Remember we once chatted on orkut?"

"We never chatted! I never replied to you." , I shouted back.

"I hate girls with so much attitude" , he said as he walked towards me.

I ran to the class , bell had rung and all were leaving the lab . I wobbled as I entered the lab , my most beautiful dream had just shattered. 'Yash wants to meet me! Yash wants to meet me' it looked like an impracticable dream. Tears were just about to roll down when my teacher shouted my name.

"Aarti where were you?" , her voice roared in the lab.

"Water---cooler" , I stuttered hiding my tears.

"No! You had gone to meet Sarwar. You know what kind of a boy he is? Disusting! I thought you are the most disciplined & decent girl of this class. You proved me wrong. Wait! Im gonna call your parents."

The sky fall down on me. I felt like killing myself.

"Ma'am! trust me. I have no idea how he came there."

"Aarti ! Leave before I loose my patience."

What would have this wounded , heartbroken fragile girl uttered ? I ran to Maya & asked her , "Why Maya? Why?"

"Aarti! Relax! And stop being a cry baby! Sarwar wanted to meet you therefore I arranged your meeting. Easy!"

I felt numb. I entered my school bus & cried on Shobha's shoulder as much as I could and narrated everything that happened. She was ruffled of course! After all she was the first one who had said , "Stay away from Yash. He'll do no good."

Another gloomy week passed by. I gave up every hope of talking to him , again.

It was 22nd Jan. I logged in after a hiatus to send my cousins birthday greetings when I saw Yash online. He immediately sent me a huge "Hello"

I checked his name ten times before replying.

Absence really makes heart grow fonder.

For a second i thought I'd die of happiness , I screamed with joy , I cried with pain. He was a nobody & today he was everything.

Aarti : Where were you?

Yash : My internet wasn't fine. 😔

Aarti : You took 22 days to repair?

Yash : You remember the date we chatted last time 😳

Aarti : 30th Dec it was , when you sang that song for me 😍

Yash : 😍 How are you?

Aarti : Bad

Yash : Why?

Aarti : I missed you 😭

Yash : I missed you too 😊

Aarti : Sach?

Yash : Mooch 😛

I felt complete , I felt as if a broken part of my body had been repaired , as if the brightness overcame the darkness in my life. I couldn't talk much that day because of my tedious , lengthy homework. But he promised me he wont take such 'vacations' ever again. I felt blissful.

He fulfilled his promise & started coming daily , but something was missing. We stopped going beyond , "Hi-Hellos-Howdy" He never looked interested while talking to me & I was feeling awful.

Then I messaged him one day , "Whats wrong with you? Why are behaving so strangely?"

He replied , "Oh is that so? Im sorry Aarti. It won't be repeated again 😃"

And yes , he didn't repeat it again , at least for some days.

Then the time was arriving , for him to discover , somebody loves him , somebody wants him , that somebody is me.
