Saving Saath Nibhana Saathiya

Can StarPlus and the PH save SNS? Can they make it more interesting to run it longer despite all the challenges faced recently? What do you think they can do at this point? Here's what I think.

StarPlus - The first thing to do is fire the PH and have a new PH to take over the show. Yeah, right. That's not gonna happen. So work with the PH to make them work harder to save their show.

PH - Fire/change the writing team and stop interfering in their writing. Give them a highlight of where the PH/SP wants the show to go and let the writers take it from there.

Creatives - The show is not over just because Ahem has confessed. There is still a lot of juice left. Here are some examples of interesting tracks you can still show.

1. Kinwal - Move this relationship forward by adding drama to their life. The most obvious will be having Umang back, but that will be a repeat of Anita track. Instead, bring a new girl from Dhawal's past to make Kinjal jealous (wouldn't that have done wonders for Gohem if they had brought a new guy for Gopi). Don't ruin the track by making it negative and ruining the strong characters as you did in Anita track. Make it heart warming. Make the new girl positive, a complete opposite of Kinjal to make her feel insecure and finally think that she may not be good enough for Dhawal. Have both the girls sacrifice their love to make Dhawal happy. Of course, Kinjal should win since Dhawalji loves only her.

2. Raji - Have Kurmi push Rashi to get pregnant. Show a lot of Raji moments where they are close, but Rashi still doing it all for a baby. Finally, punish Rashi by her discovering she can't be a mother (could be due to a glitch in her test reports). This is her redeeming moment. She blames her past deeds and her cruel treatment of Gopi for her misfortune making her come clean with Jigar and others about her past. She decides to adopt a girl from an orphanage to honor Gopi being an orphan. The adoption from an orphanage could be an educative track for public awareness as in India there is a stigma attached to adopting orphans. This could be SP's soch nayi with revelation of corruption in orphanages where management uses the kids for illegal schemes to making money.

3. Modi business - Since we can't get away from villains in the serial, have Kurmi join hands with Savita behn to destroy Modis financially. Savita behn's husband, a business man takes away Modi contracts with Kurmi's illegal kalakaris, thus making the Modis bankrupt. A change of venue with Modis moving to a modest house. Chiraag having a heart attack giving him more time with family. Parag provides emotional support to family like a rock. Ahem and Jigar work together to reveal how they lost contracts (with Kinwal and Jeetu bhai's help). Some intelligent and imaginative under cover work be done to make the show more mature and smart. A lot of family bonding and togetherness.

4. Gohem baby - While pregnancy tracks are gold, the babies are diamonds. Garner sympathy for Gohem and have the new born be kidnapped. After all, what could stir the emotions of the audience than a baby in danger. While Kokila falls apart, have Gohem (with Raji help) work together to find the baby. The baby somehow ends up in the same orphanage Rashi is adopting from. This track brings about a change in Gopi to make her strong and assertive which may work more for Devoleena. Gohem finally get over their shyness and hesitancy to develop an equal partnership. No more Kokila helping Gopi. Time for Ahem to become her saathiya in true sense. Show physical intimacy and their consoling each other with words and actions. Show some spunk in them to develop a teasing and open relationship.

5. Gopi - In order for Devoleena to fit Gopi's role and have the audience accept her more, bring about a change in Gopi. Introduce a big twist. Have Gopi die during child birth. Before dying, Ahem has her promise that she will always be around as his saathiya. We know that this show is more about Gopi being a saathiya for Ahem and not the other way around. After her death, her soul should remain with Ahem to guide him in his life and help him raise the baby. This new Gopi could be teasing, talkative and spunky with a little bit of Rashi in her.

6. New entries - Have Hetal's young niece/nephew come to stay with them. Introduce some teenage tracks so young viewers can connect. I won't go into details on what tracks to show, but some current problems being faced by the Indian youth can be introduced. Potential for some comedy here.

Not all tracks should be done one after the other. Have some intermingle with each other to show simultaneously. Incorporate a lot of romance between the couples so women are hooked. Have baa disperse pearls of wisdom while showing interaction of all the elders with the younger generation to keep the older and younger viewers around.

These are just some tracks I pulled out of my head and I don't even have a very creative imagination. I am sure the so called SNS creatives who are paid big bucks can come up with more unique and absorbing tracks than showing cliche's and the same stories over and over.

Instead of showing negativity and stupidity, make the show heart warming and engaging. Take pride in your serial. Promote it during other shows and show the audience that you care and want to keep them around.

Aris. I read your points👏. Give them some fresh ideas, Lord knows they need them. I went a bit 😲 at one of them though. Have you been reading my mind? I was thinking to go down that route for something I was doing.

Xarina, thanks for your response. It was a long post and I appreciate your time and patience😆. Just was getting sick of seeing everyone (including me) giving up on this serial. I am sure if you were one of the creatives, you could come up with stories a thousand times better than I did or anything the SNS creatives are coming up with. So which ones of these you had already thought of?

The baby kidnap. But I am sure that a lot of the forum members can give the cv's a run for their money and write even better scripts. I don't think the ph is tapping into the right type of talent. So many routes they can go down. Just so sad.

I feel good that at least one of my ideas is the same as yours, otherwise I am hopeless in the creativity department. You are right, our forum is filled with members who could bring glory to SNS and won't even ask for any payment. I just can't understand how they call themselves creatives with the juvenile stories they have shown. Even in the past, their tracks have never been that exciting or unique. They just kept this show going by dangling the promise of Gohem being together one day and when that day came, it was a washout.

@bold. Yeah, that carrot got swapped with breadsticks. It was a damp suib compared the the fireworks that we were promised. We wanted rockets and got firecrackers instead

Fantastic post Aris. If only the CVs use one of your ideas it would be ratings gold and if they used all well then this show would be unbeatable. Unfortunately the CVs have stones instead of brains. I really like the SavitaBen+Urmi joining together to bring down the Modis and GoHem's baby being kidnapped.

These are all great ideas and would definitely rekindle interest in the show and keep it on air longer than the 3 months left (my prediction).

Thanks for reading this long post, Christine. Kudos to you. What to do though. I don't think the CV's will even see this post. It was just a way for my venting. If an unimaginative person like me can come up with these ideas, why can't the creative team come up with even more interesting tracks. As Xarina said, they are not employing the right people.

My bone of contention has always been that the SNS creatives never give the viewers what they want. The viewers always wanted more of Gohem. Other serials give their lead pair at least 75% of the screen time. The SNS viewers were lucky to get Gohem for 25% of the time. Why didn't the SNS CV's milk their golden couple for what they were worth before the confession? Now, they are doing it again. After confession, no lovey dovey coochy coo scenes. They are acting like an old tired couple with no romance left in life.
