Reason to Hope???...Or Not???

Ekta serials have often proudly claimed credit for venturing into uncharted territories...She has vouched for her 'sensitive' handling of issues like rape, mercy-killing and the like...So whats next on her social agenda???...A 'sensitive' portrayal of wife-swapping???....A new take on open marriages???....Is that whats in the offing in KS now???...A Jai-Pia angle, followed by a Bani-Pushkar track???

I have been loath to write a premature obituary for KS over the past few weeks...Despite the slowdown in the story...the mounting bloopers....The growing complexity of the tracks...the contradictory stances of the characters....the ominous signs....I have persevered in hoping...for the best. I must admit today though that that hope is wavering really low today😭...The clouds have darkened too much.......

There are just two reasons which are ready to keep my optimism afloat...albeit precariously...

The first is Jai....and his character as it has shaped up till now....Its simple...I just trust him...to take care of himself...and his life...period!...It doesnt really matter if Pia is in his house...Roshni was in a room with him remember???...In fact on the same bed...AND he was drunk...Yet he stood rock-steady.

Even today, I was feeling sorry for him...The poor guy was trudging up and down the stairs in the middle of the night...Trying to deal with a hysterical couple ....Witness to the most unsavoury and ungainly fight...I loved the dignified way with which he removed himself from the scene when the confrontation began to centre around him...And the expression on his face when Pia was praising him said loads...It wasnt triumph....it wasnt disgust...it was just supreme indifference...Even if Bani was not in the picture, Pia's constant ping-pong attitude seems to have finally ensured that the scales have fallen out of his eyes as far as she is concerned...for eternity.

In fact for his part, Jai was behaving like a perfect brother-in-law and gentleman today....It was in keeping with hs character to stop Pushkar from hitting Pia in front of him...It would have been unacceptable if he had stood by and watched it all...If Pia chooses to misunderstand these vibes, then again...I trust him to handle it...and handle it well!!!...I doubt if her being Bani's sister or any other reason will make him be nice then.

The other reason for a degree of optimism is the KS track record till now...Till now, this serial has always surprised us...At every juncture...The expected, good or bad, has hardly ever happened in the way we thought it would...J-B marriage...their consummation at a time when their relationship was stilll largely undefined....Pia's abrupt arrival on the morning after...Bani's hug to Jai before the bomb blast...Jai's death...We have always been kept on the edge...So at a time when things seem so bleak, and inevitably set in a predictably unwanted direction...It might just turn out to be the opposite...Jai and Bani may just decide to join hands to seek a reconciliation between the two Ps...And in the process, breach their own gulf.

Yet, the reasons for pessimism seems equally valid...😭....Firstly, the way the track has been built up gradually....Its not been a sudden twist in the serial...The pieces have been set up gradually beginning with Pia's joining the office, to Pushkar's name being written on Bani's hospital form, to the growing vibes between Pia and Jai, to the present...It all points to the fact that the track is not going to be a short-term scenario..Rather things may just be taken to the brink...

Also, I know many people are arguing that Ekta would never separate J-B as that is the USP...But then the converse is also true...J-B are the selling point...so a quick reconciliation b/w the two would be bad business...Better to keep them apart for as long as possible and keep the fans on the edge...They may not necessarily marry other ppl...But then they may still be away from each other and keep pining...!!!

And lastly, well, the going has been too good till now... I mean its been 6 months....We have had a brilliant story line...Even better characters which have remained well-etched out and consistent...In Jai and Bani we have had two protagonists who have been utterly different from the umpteen others we see on television all the time...How long can it last???...Did I hear Ekta loves Jai's character...Its time to get scared then...She loved Sujal too...And anyone who's ever followed KTH knows what happened there....So if our JW gets massacred by the creatives, well, why get shocked...

Sorry for being so negative...But the balance is tilting the other way...Lets see what happens next....But come what may, we still have discretion of keeping our JW alive...fantasise abt J-B in our own way...The only hope is that that may not be the only thing left for us!!!!

Hey Rupy - very well written state of affairs where KS is poised at present and the direction it is most likely headed to. Like you many of us have been hoping trying to be optimistic but after reading today's update I have just about had it. I am giving it till Friday before deciding to call it quits. (I know by Friday we will all be pushed over the edge and then there will be a dhamakedaar cliffhangar which will have us all anxious to know what happened on Monday).

Yes, the scales do seem to be tilting the other way but 'aasha amar hai'.........

I lost hope with this show. After reading today's update now i am back to being indifferent about this show. I know KS has always surprised us but this time i don't think it will. As far as i am concerned i am losing interest in this show and may be in a week or two will stop reading the updates too.

Hey Rupy...enjoy your writing and the way you put things in perspective...
Agreed KS is losing its luster but keeping J&B apart cannot be the only choice for keeping the business profitable....

J&B campers and yours truly can never get tired of seeing J&B together in bliss albeit fighting the common enemy whatever it is... If the creatives are thinking(if they are awake at all) that another June 19th will be boring and the only way to keep the fans on the edge is to follow oft beaten path they are plain wrong...

Lately it seems that KS does not continue with the story from one day to the next and the characters are having major personality conflicts.

Kekta has given new meaning to the word shocking or unexpected by throwing logic to the wind.... and she gets credit for being innovative..

I think you beautifully laid out both sides of the coin... positive and negative. Lets hope that the show dosen't go the way of the negative. As you say..one thing to base our steadfast loyalty on is JW's character. Lets hope the creatives don't let us down.

I don't mind waiting for a short bit to see it pick up. But whats the drab storyline in between?

Is this a character from another serial that Kekta masacared???

Were there a lot of people who were as vocal about how they felt about the storyline of that serial as everybody at IF is about KS.

I am just hoping that Balaji know how their audience feels and they DO NOT disapoint.

I am also hoping that the creative's wife who did not send luch for her husband when JW was killed off for a day is not happy with the current state of affairs and makes a few more such threats!!!😉

Wow...everything you said was absolutely right. 👏 Considering that this is an Ekta show...we just might see Bani and Pushky get together. 😕 I know that would be really horrible. But every show Ekta makes, the characters are marriend definitely more than once. 🤢 Hopefully Ekta won't do that do this show. All we can do is hope that Jai and Bani do not separate and Jai doesn't get attached to Pia I feel really sorry for Pushky though. I hope he can find someone nice and who cares for him, unlike Pia 🤢 I hope Pia learns her lessons and goes away. I just can't believe she thinks that she can win over Jai 😕 😡 That is truly disgusting 🤢 I hope Ekta wont butcher this show more than it already is. Just get Bani and Jai together!

Great analysis, as always!! 👏 I loved the way you put forth all the positive and negative points..u r right, the scale is leaning towards the negative as per the happenings in the recent past..maybe thats just what Ekta wanted us to think! while in reality she'll surprise us yet again!! like RK said so in one of his interviews -- "expect the unexpected" (well its been quoted by pmtwist quite a lot of times on this forum now 😆 )

So while most of you are angry and upset and disappointed and completely given up hopes on KS, I'm still clinging on to a little bit of optimism..hope Ekta and the creatives don't let me down this time!!

above all ekta kapoor is a businesswoman! she herself noted that ghar ek mandir took a downward turn after ram kapoor opted out and other staunh cast members were replaced - surely she won't make the same mistake twice!! the fact is that viewer determine the success and failure of a show - remember why Mihir was brught back to life in Kyunki Saas?!!!

i dont think wife swapping is an issue here - ram kapoor mentioned in an article that there were going to many surprising twists and turns in the tale yet to come - i think this is just one of those! something to keep the viewers on edge and draw out the J-B separation for as long as possible - let's face it, if J-B live happily ever after where's the storyline??
