Diets where cereals are not included lead to major problems

Mona Singh, TV actor

Height: 5 feet 5 1/2 inches Weight: 59 kgs.

Breakfast: A protein shake and an apple.

Lunch: Boiled dal and stir fried vegetables.

Mid meals: I get really hungry in the evening, so I have another protein shake along with a bar of protein chocolate - Myoplex Lite, which is really yummy.

Dinner: Tandoori chicken or soup and vegetables.

Exercise: I do two hours of cardio/weights every morning with my personal trainer. In the evenings, I either go for a swim or for a long walk. Recently I've started spinning. It's basically cycling in the gym with trance music and neon lights.

Nutritionist Naini Setalvad recommends…

Mona has to realise that consuming artificial meals of protein will lead to vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Diets where cereals are not included lead to major problems. It destroys the digestive system, saps you of energy as these provide a slow supply of energy in the body. Fruits are the richest source and Mona is eating only one fruit in a day. Her dinner at times is only tandoori chicken. Where are the fruits and vegetables?

Breakfast: 2 fresh fruits.

Mid morning: Vegetable juice+3 nuts+1 khakhra or brown rice poha with vegetables.

Lunch: Raw salad+vegetables+jav or barley atta roti+cup of dal.

Mid evening: Nuts (almonds+walnuts+apricots) or chocolates made from natural sugar.

Dinner: Salad+soup+vegetables+fish/chicken.

Exercise: She should do one-and-a-half hours of weights and 20 minutes of cardio training twice a week. The rest of the days she should concentrate on yoga and deep breathing.

Thanks! Looks like both Mona and Apu are hooked on protein shakes! 😉

But seriously, Mona's diet is not upto the mark. Most people make the mistake of avoiding carbs in order to lose weight, not realising how important they are for energy. Mona should rely on exercise rather than dieting in order to lose weight. 😊

You are right Blyti. A balanced healthy diet is one which includes 3 portions of carbs and 5 portions of fruits and veggies in a day.

I cant believe she weighs just 59 😕 Heck,SS herself weighs 56,and mona's just 3 kilogrammes heaftier that SS😲....Too hard to buy 😆 ..LOLZ,I guess celebs lie about their weights....What say sheen 😉😈 ...I mean,yeah,perhaps her bone weight is not too much and all those kilogrammes are flab 😕 ,but yet 😕🤔

Well,she can go the whole hog with proteins,but can additionally take vitamin and B complex tablets(they arent expensive either..Just 1 Rupee per tablet you see 😛) ...That helped me..But yeah,I know that cereals and nuts are extremely important,albeit I dont have them much to my mother's chagrin 🤢 ....

well,1.5 hours of weights😲......That's for toning up,whereas the cardio results in quick weight loss...In 20 mins,one can MAX burn upto 275-300 calories on the tread-mill,and that it if one runs at a speed of 9 or 9.5 ....and if one walks,one can lose upto say 130-150 calories(approximately speaking ofcourse..it may vary from machine to machine and person to person)....most of the trainers suggest 20 mins of running,and 20 mins of power walking....and Mona doesnt work out her abs 😕😲.....No wonder she's yet flabby around her tummy 😕 ...She can also try out kick boxing,it tones up the arms spectacularly 😛

Exactly, i'm guessing she needs to tone more..rather than focus on losing weight😕..and if she wants to lose weight-->there are many diets now around that mean that you can eat w/o starving yourself😛...hmmmm, speaking of diets-there has been a lot of discussion about the Atkins diet and whether it is good or bad for you😕😕😕...

besides,isnt it ironical,she been talking about her diet from last year,yet hasnt lost much😕..I guess she needs to get the RIGHT diet,asplain starving has zilch impact🤢
