It's 2:20am in the morning and I am updating. I know this chapter will upset everyone but this is a much needed scene.

Chapter 45

Shyam went back into his room fuming mad when Arnav's words flashed in his mind. 'Khushi now is my wife in every way. So you better stay away from her. She doesn't love you, she never has.' How could she I loved her and I still love her. No I won't believe it until she tells me herself with that in mind he had a new determination in his mind. One way or another I am going to talk to her he thought with that evil smile on his face.

Things had been going well between Khushi and Arnav over the next few days. He would flirt with her at every opportunity they were alone with Khushi blushing crimson every time. She was getting use to calling him Arnav and Arnav was loving his name more and more. He would always time for Khushi at lunch at work. Aman knew not to book any meetings at lunch or his boss would use his head as a football.

Since Khushi's birthday Arnav had so been wanted to get a lot more closer to his wife but someone or something would always happen and Arnav knew it had everything to do with Shyam. He still had no idea what he was going to do about Shyam. He knew he needed him out of his house but that would only hurt his Di. So the first thing he needed to do was to make his sister and family suspicious about Shyam. Unfortunately for Arnav something else happened which he didn't expect.

Khushi had come home from work that day only to find the place empty. She asked HP where everyone was and was told they had all gone shopping. She went up to her room before coming down and doing her chores.

She had her clothes washed and headed up to the terrace to place her clothes.

Shyam happened to come home early that day. Even he was surprised there was no one but when he found out Khushi was here he went up to find her.

He first went to his room placed his briefcase down and went to look for Khushi. He went to her room she wasn't there. He came back to down to look in the kitchen and didn't find her so he headed up to the terrace. He saw her placing the clothes and walked up to her.

Khushi didn't realise he was there until she turned around. She saw the proximity at how close he was standing and moved back.

Shyam: Khushiji why do you always do this to me? You know I love you then why back away.

Khushi: Aren't you ashamed of your behaviour? You are married and so am I. Di loves you and worships you. Why can't you be happy with that?

Shyam: Because she is not you and I don't care if I am married neither should you care that you are married. Arnav does not love you and I know you don't love him.

Khushi in anger: He does love me and I love him. If by now you don't know this then you are bigger fool then I thought.

Shyam in anger: FOOL. I'm not the fool you are Khushiji. Arnav married you because he thought you and I were having an affair. He us together on the terrace on Akash and Payal's wedding.

Khushi looked at him stunned, her mind going back to her wedding day and it felt like everything made sense. She still didn't allow Shyam to see her surprise.

Khushi: You know something JIJAJI. You just can't use to the fact that I never loved you and I am in love with my husband that you make up stories about everyone. Why should I believe you? You have lied to me, my family and Arnav's family. Anything and everything you say is a lie.

Shyam suddenly grabbed a hold of her shoulders. Khushi started struggling.

Khushi: Let me go.

Shyam: If you don't believe me ask your husband.

Khushi: I will not ask him. I trust him with my life. Let me go before I scream bringing everyone's attention.

Shyam looked at the determination in her eyes. He had to let her go when they heard a car screech outside. He was still angry that she didn't believe him. Khushi walked passed him and ran to her room.

Khushi went back downstairs as the rest of the family walked in, her mind still back on the conversation she had. She busied herself with household chores trying to avoid the questions in her mind, the heart on the verge of breaking and the sting of tears desperately trying to come out of her eyes.

As soon as Arnav got home he looked for Khushi. He saw her but he didn't see her usual smile nor her usual blush. He felt something was wrong as she didn't meet his eyes. HP came to give his coffee, at dinner Khushi avoided him and she didn't come up until late.

Arnav was getting frustrated that Khushi was avoiding him. She saw him when she got into the room and headed towards the bathroom. Arnav got up from his recliner and moved towards her placing his hand on the door knob just as went to open the door. She didn't look at him.

Arnav: Khushi why you avoiding me?

She still didn't look at him.

Arnav frustrated: Khushi look at me when I am talking to you.

She still didn't. Arnav in his temper grabbed her arms and made her turn to him only for him to find tears flowing down her cheeks. Arnav let her arms go and cupped her cheeks, his tone and stanch softening as his thumbs caressing her cheeks while wiping her tears away.

Arnav: Khushi what's wrong?

Khushi: Why did you marry me Arnavji?

Arnav looked at her in shock. Her calling him Arnavji said it all, her eyes speaking volumes and he knew she knew the reason. His hands let her cheeks go and he had to turn around to avoid her gaze. As though he given his answer Khushi knew what Shyam had said was true.

Khushi: Arnavji why did you marry me?

Arnav: Khushi…I

Damn this is hard he thought.

Khushi: You married me because you thought I was having an affair. Didn't you?

Arnav didn't answer. He couldn't even turn back to look at her. Khushi felt her heart growing weaker as tears just flowed from her eyes. She turned back to the washroom door, opened it and walked in. Arnav heard the door click shut before he turned around. He waited until Khushi came out. He looked at her but he say a new defiance in her face. Gone were the tears and all he could see was anger and hurt. Arnav tried moving closer but she backed away.

Arnav: Khushi.. i

Khushi In anger: Don't you dare Arnavji. Don't you dare. I can't believe after all this time since you and I have met you have not once believed in me. What made you think I was having an affair with….with Shyamji?

Arnav heard the hurt in her voice.

Arnav: I saw the two of you on the terrace together, you in his arms and him telling you he loved you. Then you asked him to divorce Di. I couldn't believe what I had heard that day. I was going to tell Di that day but then I found out she was pregnant. I needed to save my Di's marriage so I forced you to marry me.

Khushi: And you never thought of asking me? You never once thought of asking me what had happened up on that terrace. It is true what I had once said to you that when get angry you never seem to think about what you are doing. In fact this whole situation has happened only because of you temper.

Arnav looked at her shocked wondering what she was talking about.

Arnav: Khushi I know I have hurt you but…..

Khushi: Hurt me? When have you never hurt me? That's all you have done since the first time we met. You should remember that after all the great Arnav Singh Raizada never forgets.

Arnav heard the hurt and sarcasm in her voice. He tried to move towards her but she backed up.

Khushi: No. Not today. You are not coming near me. How could you? How could you still believe everything against me after everything you have known about me? You had seen me every day for months here right in front of you and yet you believed that I… that I could have had an affair with….with Di's husband. Do you even know what happened? No my guess is you don't know anything, anything that had happened before you decided that I was having an affair with that man. What did you say you heard on the terrace that he loved me and that I asked him to give Di a divorce? Did you hear anything before that or after? My guess is no as you would have heard what I said but no you just heard what you wanted to hear and think that…..

Khushi by now was in tears. Arnav looked at her. He was feeling guilty that he had hurt her again. He still tried to close to her but she put her hands in front of him to stop him.

Khushi: I told you Arnavji don't come any closer. Did you know what Shyamji had done to me and my family? Well let me tell you exactly what happened. I said earlier that what had happened was because of you and I mean it. The day when you decided to put those photos of how we met me and my family were ridiculed so badly that…that I had men following me, taunting me, wanting…

Arnav heard this and was fuming, more at himself than anyone else. Khushi still had tears flowing from her eyes.

Khushi: They started taunting amma as well and when bauji came to the rescue they pushed him aside. It was Shyamji who came to the rescue. If that day he wasn't there...

Khushi had closed her eyes remembering that moment. Arnav had his hands clenched in anger.

Khushi: I know I shouldn't say this but for that day I will always be grateful to him but after that he lied to me and my family.

Khushi started telling Arnav everything since the time she had come to Delhi. How Shyam had manipulated his way into buaji's home and their lives.

Khushi: During the whole time he was at buaji's house I always thought he was a good friend nothing more. I don't know when he got the idea that I loved him when I didn't. I didn't even want to get engaged to him let alone marry him but I did it for my family. I would have never said yes if that day on Diwali…..

Khushi put her hand over her mouth realising what she was about to say. Tears still flowing from her eyes looking shocked at what she was about to reveal. Arnav looked back at her shocked thinking back to Diwali and the it hit him. She loved me since then? he thought. Khushi moved away from him and sat on the bed crying her eyes out. Arnav moved towards her. Khushi avoided looking at him.

Khushi: I broke my engagement the day I found out who he was the day the pooja was here. I found out and slapped him before I ran into you that day. You saw me crying. I wanted to tell you then and there but I remembered how much you loved Di and couldn't see her cry so I stopped myself. On the way home I kept thinking of what to do and Shyamji met me and started lying again about how nobody in this family loved him. How he had found the kind of love he was looking for with my family. He was trying hard to convince me but I didn't listen. Before I got home he had told my whole family about himself. As I reached there he was trying to apologise but we all wouldn't take it and I told him I was going to tell your family but then he came out with what about jiji and her wedding. I knew he was trying to frighten us but I didn't want to back down. Even jiji and buaji agreed to this. We had to convince amma because what Shyamji had said scared her for jiji after all her first marriage was broken. The next I came to Shantivan to tell Di everything but when her mangalsutra fell down and I caught her reaction to that was awful. She almost broke down and I couldn't say a word. I didn't say a thing for her and her only. I didn't say a word and look what happened.

Khushi turned to look at him. Arnav was had by then sat on the bed looking straight at her listening intently.

Khushi: How could you think that I would do such a thing? I kept quiet for Di and you and I still get accused of something like this. Why?

Arnav: I….I…

Khushi: I what Arnavji. I what? Now where has that famous tongue of yours gone? You always have something to say. Why have you stopped now? Tell me you believed what you saw instead of asking.

Arnav: I am so sorry Khushi.

Khushi: Sorry? Sorry? How many more times? How many more times are you going to hurt me?

Khushi was fuming looking at Arnav could help but feel guilty. He started to edge towards Khushi but she stood up and was walking away when Arnav grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him. She fell forwards on to his chest. Arnav grabbed the chance and hugged her. Khushi began to struggle in his arms. She started trying to push herself away and when that didn't work she started hitting him while she started crying again.

Khushi: Let me go Arnavji. I hate you.

Arnav didn't let her go instead brought her more closely to him. After a little while she gave up fighting and just cried in his chest.

Arnav: I'm sorry Khushi. I am so sorry. Please forgive me. Please give me another chance.

Khushi was still crying when she heard this. She was too confused as to what to do next. She knew she loved him and he loved her but he always hurt her at every turn. Arnav carried on apologising as he cradled her in his arms. His one hand going up and down her hair trying to soothe her while still apologising but the more he apologised the guiltier he still felt and tears started prickling in his eyes. He didn't realise when he started to cry but Khushi felt a tear on her forehead. She looked up to see him crying. Her first thought was what have I done? She moved her hand towards his face and wiped his tears. Her thoughts betraying her I didn't want to make him cry. I never wanted this. I can't see him cry. His tears made her cry even more. Arnav looked at her and knew what she was thinking. He cupped her cheeks and wiped her tears.

Arnav: No Khushi. Don't feel guilty. This is not your fault. I was wrong. I was always wrong in never believing you.

She hugged him and he hugged her back. Both thinking what now?
