Charan Saparash: touching of feet

I would like to know traditions regarding touching of feet all across India. In Punjab (at least the part I grew up in) a daughter touching her own parent's feet is frowned upon (something with janam marn chakar if kanaya devi touches her parents feet I think not sure) . As a matter of fact a girl never touches the feet of elders of her own blood family. But a married woman is expected to touch her in-laws feet. What are the traditions in other parts of india?
