I watched cocktail yesterday and it got me thinking.

Why is that in indian films and tv serials the bad boy first is with the bad girl. The girl whom his mother will never approve of. Then falls in love/marry s the good girl his mom approves of . The girl who does not show her waist the girl who s goody goody that butter wont melt in her mouth...

He suddenly realizes that the time he spent with the bad girl was never love but he is head over heels in love with the good girl who transforms him.

Why is it that the reformed bad boy deserves a happy ending with the good girl?? Why does nt he deserve to be punished like the bad girl always is?? Should we just reward him with a happy ending just because the dharti pe bojh changed???

The bad girls always get punished. Why??? Cant someone fall in love with a bad girl? Cant someone stick to that bad girl even though their mom disapproves?? Cant someone marry that bad girl ?? Cant someone give that bad girl a chance to sober down?? Cant that bad girl be reformed??

Saathiya is no exception.

It is always the case in our society..."bad" girls can never redeem themselves given the society's dubious moral standards...girls aren't supposed to commit any mistake, and if they do then they are tainted for ever..."fallen" women are easy targets for sadists, a lot of cruelty is passed of as tradition...No tradition that infringes on the human rights of a woman is worth preserving.

The yardstick for being good or bad is diff for diff sections of society...a lot of people are inhumane when judging others..many men who proclaim that they are upholders of tradition are in fact - Ghar mein Ram, gali mein Shyam

Oh gawd, is this why I'm not married yet?

Crap I think I just found the meaning of my crazy life by reading your post.

All along I thought I was the "good" girl but I just realized I'm the bad girl...😭

I guess bad girls finish last and good girls get the guys😕

My life is like an Indian soap opera

😆-nice post & I completely agree. Anita did not even seem evil at the beginning and they both looked like they loved each other. A relationship based on love would have been the best thing for Ahem & Anita. Look how much they both suffered just cause Koki figured she knew what was best for him.

Who says Anita would not have made a dutiful DIL & more importantly, a great wife. Instead she lost the love of her life and he ended up in a forced marriage to someone he despised for a looong time, which made her life & his life hell.😡

i liked both the girls. The movie was fun but the ending sucked big time. I know it was the anita ahem gopi triangle . The poor anita she s termed obsessed etc and suddenly one hadsa ie the accident/kitchen fire transforms her and she lets the bad boy and good girl unite 🤢. I hope u will be back by next week:-)

not only that vibz, the story is set in london to show that things like this can happen only out side india, the desi spirit does not alow this relationship here. and the bad girl is always from goa or a christian
the creatives are always so narrow minded.
as for the movie, the bad girl atleast tries to change for her love.

Good post partner..👏

why bad boy gets good wife and is happy ...because initial bad boy is always a hero in the later chapters...

Why bad girl is always bad 😕 because a heroine or a female lead should always be goody good...with no single negative trait all her life... A bad girl is shown as a bad girl for the rest of her life..

SNS is no exception .. or may be it is an exception or can be an exception to some extent...

I am still hoping for KinWal track to open up...

we know the effect of Gopism on Ahemji and how Ahem is changed by his sweet little wife...

similarly, i am hoping for Kinjal to change or reform with Dhavalism .. Kinjal's attitude.. hatred.. disrespect everything can be curbed only by Dhavalism with his love.. so this can prove that if one person in a couple is good .. the goodness can change the other person too... but only in the due course of time...

Great questions raised by your post!!!
I think the real reason for such bad boy-good girl combo in soaps and movies have more to do with vewers' expectations.
Most of the soap watchers are ladies (good girls 😃) and they love to see the taming of the bad, wild and mean by the good girl. We all know good girls like bad guys, right?😳 So, it's a victory for the viewers as well.
As for movies, here the viewers are mostly guys looking around for fun (bad guys??) - so such movies give them a message - go have fun with bad girls now. Eventually, good girl would still love you with all her heart 😆😆
But I don't like it when people start taking such stories seriously. A close friend (a real good girl who's not a serial stereotype, she's very nice, super smart, successful in career) opted for a divorce after marriage to a real bad guy (I won't go into details). The kind of opposition she faced from the family and friends - everybody asking her to give time to her husband - he would reform eventually. Reform, my foot!!! I was like - she has already wasted 2 months for that guy - not a day longer is needed!!!

Its easy to tell who is good or who is bad while you are watching a movie, but its so difficult in real life. Or is it just me? 😕
