Hi my dear friends!
This is the very first newsletter of the HP forum, and let me say, that the participation was simply brilliant! Some of the main columns aren't there this time, including the Fan fic -- Alia, Sam, Vaish n Natz product, and the message corner. The message corner is basically an anonymous message to someone... That person has to give a reply, and also guess who it is... Message, and original poster will be put up in the next issue...
I would like to put in a special thanx to Chandni, who was extremely optimistic about this... and was one of the first few to volunteer... Then I would also like to thank Rashmi, Maenad (Manny), Vaish, so on and so forth....

Natz: OK don't insult me-a Wackspurt passed through my brain. So Rasmi tell me what do you feel lyke being Elderly Eighteen?

What do I say about the Half Blood Prince?

What do I say about the Half Blood Prince?
Waking up early in the morning to collect my copy of 'The Half-Blood Prince', I was full of excitement and expectations. Who is the Half Blood Prince? What happens to Voldemort? Will Sirius' death be explained? Who will be the one to die this time? …
All these questions were swimming in my head as I sat in my car holding the gift-wrapped copy in my hands. Straight to my room I went and started reading. With every word I read I wanted to read more.
Were my expectations fulfilled? Was I happy with the book?
Being a hard-core J.K.Rowling fan I should say at first that the book was fantastic. I enjoyed every bit of it [even the part where Dumbledore dies which kept me in tears for quite some time].
On the other hand, the Half-Blood Prince, I expected, would be the main plot around which the book would revolve. The thrill of suspense as to who the HBP was, held more weight before, rather than through the book. I was disappointed. The excitement of knowing about the HBP or the wanting to find the horcruxes was just not there. Hard as I tried I could not get the familiar thrill of reading Harry potter in this 6th book.
Dumbledore's death was another thing that struck me as unnecessary. Dumbledore who, it had been mentioned before, would be able to escape from Azkaban was made weak by a potion? Doesn't it strike you as extraordinary that Ron and Hermione who have trusted Harry's instincts at all times do not believe him about Malfoy now? Isn't it odd that when all the death eaters are out to get Harry and kill him they leave the only opportunity available… on Snape's word? Maybe JK will explain that in the next book. But again, seeing the way she abruptly ended Sirius' chapter without an explanation later, can we hope?
The book made a good reading...I can't deny that. It had a lot of romance woven into the tale as none of the others had had. The plot, I have observed, keeps getting thinner with each book since the goblet of fire. It is the thinnest in this book…
Needless to say I am waiting for the next book eagerly and full of hope that it would prove to have a thicker plot, more excitement by way of action and a lot more thrilling than the HBP.

Harry Potter will not Die, According to British Literature Expert
JKR's threat to kill at least two main characters in her final book is her way
of letting her readers know that she owns the characters and therefore
can kill them if she wants to. Not to worry though, because according to
James Krasner, JKR will not kill Harry as she cares about him, unlike
Conan Doyle (creator of Sherlock Holmes), who was sick of Holmes.
Another reason why James Krasner said that JKR will not kill Harry is
because the HP stories are comic stories. In these stories, good always
triumphs over evil. Killing Harry will be a "miserable plotting failure".

This is all as entertaining for me as it is for many of the fans. I turn up and they go, "OK, you materialize from here and you fly in over here, and then you point at this and it's going to explode...." I stand there with my jaw dropped. When I did [Chamber of Secrets], they said, "OK, there's going to be a little blue guy [Dobby the House Elf] walking next to you and then he's going to jump up to here...." [Laughs] On the first day of the first one I did, the first shot I had to do was storming out of a room, leaving the lovely Richard Harris (the original Dumbledore) and Daniel [Radcliffe, Harry]. [Director] Chris Columbus shouted, "OK, and then shut the door on your way out." I said, "Do I have to shut the door? I don't know what the rules are, but can I just wave my hand and the door shuts by magic?" Chris paused for a second and said, "Sure. If you like." "I told you!" Ron hissed at Hermione as she stared down the article. "I told you not to annoy Rita Skeeter! She's made you out to be some sort of - scarlet woman!"
Hermione stopped looking astonished and snorted with laughter. "Scarlet woman?" she repeated, shaking with surprised giggles as she looked around at Ron.
"It's what my mum calls them," Ron muttered, his ears going red.

"Yeah, someone might slip dragon dung in it again, eh, Perce?" said Fred.
"That was a sample of fertilizer from Norway!" said Percy, going very red in the face. "It was nothing personal!"
"It was," Fred whispered to Harry as they got up from the table. "We sent it."
"Don't be prat, Neville, that's illegal," said George. "They wouldn't use the Cruciatus Curse on the champions. I thought it sounded a bit like Percy singing... maybe you've got to attack him while he's in the shower, Harry."

"Enjoying it?" said Ron darkly. "I don't reckon he'd come home if Dad didn't make him. He's obsessed. Just don't get him onto the subject of his boss. 'According to Mr. Crouch...as I was saying to Mr. Crouch...Mr. Crouch is of the opinion...Mr. Crouch was telling me...' They'll be announcing their engagement any day now."

Ron: "Who're you going with then?"
Fred: "Angelina."
Ron: "What? You've already asked her?"
Fred: "Good point. Oi, Angelina! Want to come to the ball with me?"

Hermione: "What were you going to do, snore at them?"

"I've got two Neptunes here," said Harry after a while, frowning down at his piece of parchment, "that can't be right, can it?"
"Aaaaah," said Ron, imitating Professor Trelawney's mystical whisper, "when two Neptunes appear in the sky, it is a sure sign that a midget in glasses is being born, Harry..."

"Excuse me, I don't like people just because they're handsome!" said Hermione indignantly.
Ron gave a loud false cough, which sounded oddly like "Lockhart!"

"Mr. Weasley, it's Harry.. the fireplace has been blocked up. You won't be able to get through there."
"Damn!" said Mr. Weasley's voice. "What on earth did they want to block the fireplace for?"
"They've got an electric fire," Harry explained.
"Really?" said Mr. Weasley's voice excitedly. "Eclectic, you say? With a plug? Gracious, I must see that... Let's think...ouch, Ron!"
Ron's voice now joined the others'.
"What are we doing here? Has something gone wrong?"
"Oh no, Ron," came Fred's voice, very sarcastically. "No, this is exactly where we want to end up."
"Yeah, we're having the time of our lives here," said George, whose voice sounded muffled, as though he was squashed against the wall.

"Why weren't you two at dinner?" she [Hermione] said, coming over to join them.
"Because - oh shut up laughing, you two - because they've both just been turned down by girls they asked to the ball!" said Ginny.
That shut Harry and Ron up.
"Thanks a bunch, Ginny," said Ron sourly.
"All the good-looking ones taken, Ron?" said Hermione loftily. "Eloise Midgen starting to look quite pretty now, is she? Well, I'm sure you'll find someone somewhere who'll have you."
But Ron was staring at Hermione as though suddenly seeing her in a whole new light.
"Hermione, Neville's right - you are a girl..."
"Oh well spotted," she said acidly.
"Well - you can come with one of us!"
"No, I can't," snapped Hermione.
"Oh come on," he said impatiently, "we need partners, we're going to look really stupid if we haven't got any, everyone else has..."
"I can't come with you," said Hermione, now blushing, "because I'm already going with someone."
"No, you're not!" said Ron. "You just said that to get rid of Neville!"
"Oh, did I?" said Hermione, and her eyes flashed dangerously. "Just because it's taken you three years to notice, Ron, doesn't mean no one else has spotted I'm a girl!"

Albus Dumbledore: Dumbledore means bumblebee! J.K. Rowling says that it "seemed to suit the headmaster, because one of his passions is music and I imagined him walking around humming to himself." Also, maybe Albus was derived from the Latin word meaning "white": Albatus. Maybe because of his white beard? Also, thanks to Betsy for telling us that Albus can mean wisdom...
