Part 22

Almost 5 months had passed .. Rey had not tried to contact Kria at all in these months .. neither had she .. she had forgotten how to smile from her heart .. but she was not the wreck like before .. she had gathered all the pieces of her life .. can't say about her heart .. she had tried her best to move on .. most of the time she was successful .. but there were sometimes when she saw Reyaansh with Cindy .. those were the times when her heart .. her eyes betrayed her .. but she forced herself into work and studies so that she didn't have to think about Reyaansh ..

When she took the work for Zales .. she was pretty confident she would be able to do it .. but when actual work started .. since they were coming with a new range of jewellery for the holiday season ..they were targeting the youth , the middle aged and the senior citizens .. their theme was relationship at every stage .. the school crush .. the young love .. the love .. romance .. commitment .. marriage .. memories of loved ones ..

She always had a lump in her throat when she had to design something .. because unknowingly Reyaansh would come in her mind .. but she realised she was not crying or feeling sorrow for herself .. she was able to concentrate on her work .. she was surprised with her own ideas about relationships and the way she executed her work ..

Andy was very proud of her work .. he knew she was going thru a lot of personal trauma .. but the work she churned out was amazing .. she was told that she would be absorbed as a permanent employee .. She was very happy .. she had learnt to keep her personal and professional life separate ..

She may not have totally overcome Reyaansh .. or her feelings for him .. but yes she was trying .. she somehow felt a little bit calm emotionally ..

In these months she had seen Reyaansh many times .. basically she had seen him .. he never had even bothered to look at her .. he never acknowledged her .. it was as if she didn't exist for him .. this was really heart breaking for her .. what kind of a guy is he .. anyway .. this made her more determined to forget him .. one more thing which surprised her was that she found him sometimes in her train when she returned from work late nights .. his house was not in the same line as Anu's .. so why was he in her train .. she felt as if he was following her .. but whenever she looked at him .. he never bothered to look at her .. he was either reading a book or busy on his cell .. at these times he was alone .. she wondered where Cindy was .. what the hell !!! .. why should she be even thinking about him or them ..she tried to keep her emotions under control ..

One day she was home early .. when Anu came in

Anu : Did you read the indian newspapers .. there is a lot of news about Rey ..

Kria's heart sank on hearing his name .. she always felt heavy .. she glared at Anu .. "I have told you Anu .. that topic is closed for me .. " she went back to her work ..

Anu persisted .. "Kria , I know you two broke up .. you have been miserable .. but he is going thru his own problems .. now its splashed all across the papers .. I think you should read it "

Kria took a deep breath : " First of all I am not miserable .. and 2^nd ..good that he is in problems .. I would love to see that "

Anu : I think you should talk to him once ..

Kria just grunted and ignored her ..

From morning she was very edgy and snappy .. From time and again she was getting flashes of that night .. She had been dreading this day from quite sometime .. she was afraid if her emotions would betray her and she would go back to where she started .. she was trying to be calm and trying to control her feelings ..

This was the day exactly one year back she and Reyaansh had shared a moment .. the moment was etched in her mind .. it was and would always be special for her .. no matter how much she despised Reyaansh .. she could never forget the time she and Reyaansh spent on the beach on the farewell night …she never experienced anything so pure .. so blissful ..

Her cell rang .. seeing the caller id brought a smile on her lips ..

Kria : Hi Granny … I am so happy you called ..

Granny : Kria .. Is everything ok between you and Reyaansh ? Can I speak to him..

The question surprised her .. Kria hadn't told her Granny about her and Reyaansh .. why does she want to speak to him .. she was thoughtful for a moment ..

"Granny , he is not around .. what is it that you want to talk to him ?"

Granny : "Have you seen the Indian newspapers .. from last 3-4 weeks there is lot of news about him and his family .. poor boy going thru a rough time .. you ok ? "

Kria had no idea what Granny was speaking about .. she gave some excuse and cut the call .. she went on the sites to check the news ..

After an hour she was confused.. what's going on .. what is he upto .. what's his family upto .. she was totally puzzled with the news .. for a moment she thought she should call him then she thought better of it .. why should she call .. its his problem .. why do I even care .. Hell with him and his family !!!

That evening she and her office colleagues had been to a club .. all except her were on the dance floor and enjoying .. Kria was sitting alone at the bar … her mind was going back to the news she had read in the morning about Reyaansh .. she kept feeling something was amiss .. there was something which was terribly wrong .. she didn't know what .. the news didn't make sense to her .. Reyaansh had called off his engagement with Taani stating that he was forced into it by her .. This was everywhere in the newspapers .. So Taani had filed a case on him for defamation... Reyaansh and Cindy's photos were all over .. Taani made a statement that because of Cindy he called off the engagement .. and Singhania group was supposed to pay a huge amount as the engagement was broken from their side …another case was filed by his Dad on him so that he is relinquished as the legal heir …

She tried to put the different pieces of jigsaw puzzle together to make sense out of the whole issue .. One thing she couldn't figure out was .. his Dad , Taani all knew about her .. then how come her name was no where to be seen on any newspaper … there was no mention of her anywhere .. this surprised her a lot .. they had come here .. they had met her .. still it was everywhere that Reyaansh broke the engagement because of Cindy .. Somewhere she forgot every single bit which happened between them and she wanted to be with him .. she didn't know why but she thought he needed her .. she felt strange even after these months she couldn't see him getting hurt .. but whereas when she had typed that message "Its over between us " the only thing in her mind and heart was to see him as hurt or maybe more than she was that time .. somehow she felt guilty for thinking ..

All this while there was one pair of eyes in the whole club who were constantly gazing at her .. they had tears and pain in them .. they just couldn't see Kria in this state ..

While thinking she ordered some drinks .. she didn't realise how many she had already had .. her head was light now .. she was still thinking when someone came and sat next to her ..

"Can I buy you a drink ?"

Kria was not even aware of who was next to her .. she nodded without looking at him..

As they were drinking ,he was chatting away some nonsense .. her mind was occupied somewhere else .. he moved a bit closer to her .. Kria realised when she felt a hand around her waist and it was creeping upwards .. and he squeezed her curve .. she swung to look at him .. he just smiled .. "Let's go to my place " .. "Get your f*cking hands off me " she snarled at him .. He insisted again "I am sure you won't regret " .. She tried to shake his hand off him … but he gripped her tightly .. with the other hand he held her hands and bent his head down to kiss her .. she tried to shake her head .. but somehow she felt she didn't have the strength and she was not even able to see him properly .. his muscular strong body crushed forcefully against her petite frame … "F*ck Off " .. she was screaming but her sound was dissolved in the loud music ..he dug his teeth roughly on her neck .. Kria winced in pain and her eyes automatically shut .. but suddenly she felt the man being pulled away from her .. she opened her eyes to see what was happening .. but her head was spinning .. she could see only blur images .. she saw one guy punch another .. the one who got punched staggered and fell on the floor .. she shook her head to get a clear view .. but no use .. she tried to see if she could find her office colleagues .. she got up from her chair .. but she was so dizzy that she stumbled and was about to fall when someone caught her .. he had gathered her in his arms .. she clutched him tightly .. she had felt this touch before .. she had been in these arms before .. his embrace felt so peaceful … she looked up at his face .. his eyes had pain in them ... "Why are you doing this ? " .. his voice almost inaudible ..

He gently steadied an inebriated Kria and he took her to his car .. Neither did he tell her where is he taking her nor did she ask him .. there was complete silence between them during the drive .. neither of them looked at each other ..

He took her to a beach .. and they both sat next to each other .. she still in a dizzy state but aware that she was with Reyaansh ..

Both were staring at the waves in the sea .. "You want to erase the memory of the night which happened last year ..rite ?"

His words were enough to make her wince again .. so he does remember it too .. does he want to erase that memory too ?? .. she felt the pain again .. she wanted to talk to him .. wanted to cry in his arms .. she thought maybe he has brought her here so that he would let his heart out .. but nothing happened as per that... Reyaansh just sat there looking at the sea .. he didn't even look at her .. though she could see tears had brimmed in his eyes .. which he tried to wipe before they fell ..

They sat for a long time without speaking .. not looking at each other .. but aware and feeling for the other ..

"Lets go .. I will drop you home " .. he simply said .. and stood up .. extended his hand for her .. Kria took his hand to stand up .. She was a bit confused .. she had thought he would talk .. he would ask her about what happened between her and his Dad but he didn't say anything to her .. he didn't ask her anything .. Nothing ..
