Nice post Shruti.
First, I agree with you, what is the point of Gia coming back now? This past four weeks most viewers kept watching the show to see if Dev would improve or they were still in shock and wanted to see if somehow Gia will or can be brought back, but now people are truly moving along.
All things that, 75% of SNS viewers who have been watching the show since beginning, wanted to see has been shown with new Gopi, so what is the point now? I say 75% because 25% of viewers really did not like Gia or does not care who the actors are they just watch for the characters or for entertainment and they are still watching the show. (My numbers are random)
And then there is the issue of whether Gia left on her own or was she fired? If she was fired was it SP who did it or PH? Because again no one is claiming anything, but most here in this forum would jump right in and say she left, because she is selfish, or she thought she could fight the channel or whatever reason.
In any case I say lets wish her a brand new show where she can do bigger and better things then she did in SNS.
Whether people want to admit it or not, even if Koki, Ahem, Rashi or Urmila were replaced the show would have lost its originality and it would not have been enjoyable as before. Gopi's character makes a bigger impact because the story mostly revolved around her, but now she is no longer the central character.
I said this yesterday in an another post and I will say it here too.
Dev may be a good actress, but the way she is acting out Gopi's character changes everything.
Whether Gia as Gopi, was too slow, or innocent, or too dumb (when people say that Gopi is dumb, not true, whether played by Dev or Gia, Gopi in naive, and sheltered, but not dumb), or whatever reason they list for saying Dev is better as Gopi, does not work for me. Because that is not Gopi's character.
Sorry for the long rant, no offense meant to anyone but I see too many people mocking the ones who liked Gia as Gopi and even mocking Gia herself, and I wanted to put my two cents in.
I think Gia will be fine with whatever she does next.
*Edited* Just one more thing, whoever comes to justify anything here and are really not a Gia fan, I would ask only one thing of them, how would you have felt if the actor who played your favorite character was replaced overnight?
