Di-stress in your jeans

The tattered and slashed look for jeans takes a further leap into a totally 'distressed' world.

First they were just slit. Then they tore some more. Now they're ripped, slashed and tattered. We're talking about good 'ol jeans.

The apparel that everybody loves to sport, just got a shade, rather slit, holier! With society's babes and hunks and college students wearing more holes than jeans, the trend of torn jeans is back, and with a bang! They're termed 'distressed' jeans!

So, what is it about the 'torn' look that makes these denims look oh-so-cool? "It's a universal rule about denims, the older the jeans look, the better. I just love the ruggedness that these slits add.

Now, the trend has gone a step further, the jeans have to look destroyed! I like my jeans used, abused, tattered and torn!" says Arshad Warsi.

Style diva Malaika Arora-Khan, a self-confessed denim freak, says distressed jeans are all about pronouncing the ripped look, to make the jeans look shredded. "It gives a more cowboyish look, which looks cool," says Malaika.

Rohit Roy became a tattered jeans fan accidentally. He bought a decent looking pair of jeans, not knowing they'd slash with each wear! "At first, I thought I was duped.

Then I realised they were made such that they automatically tear a bit with each wear. Like when I bend my knees, they slit.

It's fun, because I never know when or where they'll slit next!" laughs Rohit, adding that distressed look only adds to the casual look. Now that's when you say less is more!
