@RTH + @Faria, 90% of FB's revenue is generated from ADs, but I have still failed to understand that how many advertisers actually think freeloaders will visit the ads...truly waste of money in ads.

@attitude.ash, I couldn't have agreed with you more, if you look at FB with purpose of investing only and making quick money then it's the best investment deal. The whole purpose of advertising is to capture vase market for the cheapest price which FB offers; where you have 900 millions users who use FB and it's been called the biggest ad market in the world.

@Prometeus, if you truly want privacy you should not be on FB or posting those message or pictures which you don't wish to share. The ideal use of social network is now contracting with it's purpose...

The IPO sold at $38 per share, generating $6.8 billion for Facebook and $9.2 billion, collectively, for existing stockholders... it made history! ;)

Would I buy it? Depends on the price...and as far as mobile advertising for FB, it will happen...it's just a matter of time 😉

But its not imp you should share all ur personal information in Social network...thats why they keep the privacy settings..they knows social network made so many anti-socials...& I know some ppl say 'privacy is very important to me' ,then they only share sensitive information with their closest 480 friends on Facebook...😕..last time one of my virtual friend in FB asked me why I don't have any photos on Facebook... Well, at least I know my privacy settings are working properly!!😃

There are always people who click on anything. My dad clicks on anything that says life insurance quote or mortgage refinance. 😆 He's better now, but we used to get so many phone calls and junk mail because of his clicking. I've had to fix his computer for spyware and viruses also due to it. Many people don't know better and do click on ads.

Anyway, the FB IPO was a huge flop. Glad I did not jump the bandwagon to buy it. It maybe worth a shot to buy a few when the prices have crashed. At that point it is nowhere to go but up.

Privacy Nightmare... uhh umm, do you use gmail? Try sending out an email with the word attachment/attach/attached in your message, but don't attach any file. Let me know what happens when u hit send. Now that's what I call a privacy nightmare?

Talking about nightmares, did anyone read the news about the retailer Target?

Ads work on 'Pay Per (million) Impression' and 'Pay Per Click'... So whether a user clicks or not, there is some amount that the advertiser pays FB. Normally, PPC is priced much higher than PPI and follows a bid system. Being run by the same guy (David Fischer), Facebook Ads Campaign follows the Google Adwords Model. 😃

Facebook is good for trading... not something I would buy as an "investment"
It is not a sustainable concept and is bound to be replaced sooner or later like other social networking websites. These are just like fads, which come and go. As for the ADs, they are mostly useless as many of you have pointed out.
