Why can't Mahadev marry Adishakti herself?

Can someone who has read the puranas tell me why Mahadev cannot directly marry Adishakti herself - just like Vishnu has married Lakshmi and Brahma has married Saraswathi? After all, both he and she are gods...why does Adishakti have to be born as a human to marry him?

Hi! I think one thing is that Adishaki is not actually separate from Shiv - she is half of Shiv and he is half of her - together they form the essential male-female shakti which powers the creation. Shivji gifted Brahma-ji his female energy because without it Brahma could not spark creation. But it was agonizing to rip it from himself and after it was gone from him he became vairagi, in a way symbolizing the plight of the male essence minus the female. It is strong but has no power to bring anything forth as it is the female element which drives creation.

Thank you. I think then it would have made more sense if the serial creators had shown Adishakti as some sort of light/energy and not a person with jewelry and sarees. If she can be seen so easily by Brahma and Vishnu, it should have been easy enough for Shiva to see her/communicate with her/live happily with her all these years.

they show adi shakti as a woman with multiple arms because she is "nirakar". in true essence trimurti are one supreme being and as one supreme being does not have one single form there are three forms of the supreme god according to their jobs( creator, nourisher, destroyer). aadi shakti is pure energy of universe and energy is formless hence we see a form of aadishakti who takes form to perform various jobs like destroying mahisasur in future.

Adi Shakti is on top of all other gods and godesses. She appeared out before three men, and asked who will marry her? Adi Shakti was in the form of Kali. Fearing the kali roop of adi shakti, two of them refused to marry but one said yes.. and then that man got the prestige of becoming Shiv by adishakti and then adi shakti made vishnu and brahma (rest two men) and gave them lakshmi and saraswati (her avatars itself) and gave Kali to shiv. Kali suddenly transforms into beautiful lady who looks exactly like adi shakti, as shiv had agreed to marry adi shakti while lakshmi n saraswati have a diff face. it is also believed that just like adi shakti there exist mahashiv, whos three avatars r shiv, vishnu n brahma. and Mahashiv and adishakti are husband wife while shiv and parvati are thier respective avatars and henceforth husband wife too
