TOI: Even men watch TV- Sameer

Minutes before he's about to board a flight to Dubai, Sameer Kochhar sounds excited, nervous and in a happy state. "I am super duper excited. This is my first time in television and I am enjoying it," he says.

Ask him about his voice and in his signature baritone Sameer says with a laugh, "My dad's got a better voice than me. During college days, girls used to give me blank calls, but would hang up when dad picked the phone."

Sameer's making his debut in fiction on TV inBade Achhe Laggte Hai, very soon. "My grandmothers are super excited. They regularly watch this show. I really don't know what to expect in future. I am just going to go with the flow. If it was a TV show for me, it was always going to be with Ekta (Kapoor). She really knows her job well."

What really made him turn to soaps now? "Daily soaps need time and to fit in long work hours, put on loads of make-up and emote is no easy job! I am going to reach to a new kind of audience and waiting to see how everything unfolds," he shares.

Television industry is all about women, then what really inspired you get into TV shows? "I am here to be an actor. This show isn't a typical saas-bahu one. It is new age and a progressive show — who wouldn't want to be a part of something that is developing and progressing? And who says only Women watch TV? I know lot of men who watch TV too," says Sameer who has his kitty full with Once Upon A Time In Mumbai 2 where he plays the role of a cop. "I am always offered the role of a cop in films I am a law abiding guy in real life," he laughs.
