Hi guys,
I'm a regular viewer of SNS and from the beginning I have always wished to see Gopi as a woman who can speak for herself. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened and the last few episodes have frustrated me so much.
The problem is that the character of Gopi has so much potential for character development but up until now the CVs have portrayed her as a vulnerable and susceptible woman who will never stand up for herself, regardless of the situation. Instead, it is always done by other characters such as Kokila, whilst Gopi stands there shedding buckets and buckets of tears. Take the current track for example, Ahem was lambasted by Kokila for denying his fatherly duties but Gopi stood there and took it in, not even uttering a word. I would have preferred Gopi, as a strong mother, taking hold of this situation and answering Ahem back. This would have at least proved that she is willing to stand up for her own child and would have revealed a maternal strength within her. It annoyed me so much that Kokila had to do this and not Gopi.
However, I have to say yesterday's episode did give this character a bit of hope when she poured her feelings out to Ahem; I just wish this was done earlier. If Gopi had disclosed her feelings to Ahem earlier then perhaps they could have sorted this matter between them and Kokila would not feel the need to interfere.
Another situation that infuriated me was the Anita situation a few months back where Anita openly tried to pursue Ahem and Gopi, quietly, allowed this. Even then, Kokila was the main player as she focused Gopi on the task of showing Anita who Ahem's true wife was. I actually believed that Gopi would not stand for this, especially after Anita set the kitchen on fire, endangering Ahem in the process. Gopi, NOT Kokila, should have raged at Anita, specifically laying attention on the fact that she tried to split Ahem and Gopi up several times and that was the final straw.
Despite this, I feel that Gopi may not be strong in vocalisation but she still has an incredible strength of patience and I must applaud that. From being an orphan and suffering ruthlessly at the hands of her spiteful Mami Urmila to being unfairly rejected by her husband; this woman has seen it all! Let's not forget the devious Rashi, who Gopi STILL defends. After all the torturing and unjust that Gopi suffered at the hands of Urmila and Rashi's 'kalakaris', I would have thought that the CVs would finally portray her as an fervent and powerful woman that puts an end to these crafty schemes done by the mother-daughter duo. But no! Gopi remains quiet, tolerant and patient. I want to ask though, how long will she tolerate this for? At some point or another, she will have to lose patience! I'm not saying she should go all out, grab a danda and start hunting down whoever wrongs her but there should be a limit to everything and Gopi NEEDS to start understanding that.
I really wish the CVs would give Gopi conviction and certainly more confidence. That's the only way she can be heard and can stop people from walking all over her, especially now that she is becoming a mother. If she cannot stand up for herself, how in the world will she protect and defend her own child?
So do you think Gopi is strong or weak? Please share your views too' 😊
