Jugni is a part of punjabi folklore .. I think it was written by waris Or is it bulle shah? Point is .. It's part of punjabi culture and there aren't any patents or stamps on it .. Jugni.. Lal meri phat .. Dastan e ishq .. Folk dance dongs like balle balle are not copyrighted to a singer though they are often associated with the ones who revitalized it .. Jugni is still associated with Alam lohar more than arif

This version though .. Is clearly inspired from the coke studio one (hence ppl calling it a pk song) .. Tone .. Music .. Everything is same though they might ve changed the lyrics .. So don't understand the hate against arif :s surely permission was required from both rohail and arif .. And anyway he is singing words that ve been there for hundred of yrs .. Saif and others have as much of a right to it as anyone else .. It really must be a point of professional pride for arif that they chose him instead of say rabbi shergill .. no reason to hate him for it

Lastly ..I prefer the coke studio version.. The sheer passion in his voice hasn't been replicated here .. It's more mundane here

well said Kiran... its sad how majority of pakistanis claim every Folk song as pakistani song just bcz thier singers has also sung it without knowing the Punjabi history ...now if their singers sing each and every punjabi folk song they do Not become OWNER of those songs

lots of indian singers has also sung Jugni ...no one can claim they own jugni

Punjabi language/culture is way older than Pakistan's age

and if this verson is coke studio version which was sung by a pakistani singer then what abt Mika's jugni in Tanu weds Manu ...

abt ppl calling Pritam chor ...he has given the credit to the singer then how he has become chor ???? they shld be thankful to him bcz of this song Arif is getting more popularity ... even among those who do not know punjabi
