CHAPTER 3 KISMAT CONNECTION

Madhu n trish were returning to their home from the little adventure which they had done by sneaking in Rk's party. Trish was beaming continuously as she was happy she saw many celebs there while madhu was all lost. She was trying to get out of the shock she had when she saw RK. She was having a strange and unknown feeling since then, her heart was racing like a Ferrari and she was confused that whether this feeling is due to the fact that she was nearly caught n probably could have been sent to jail or due the proximity of RK…the way he was looking at her…the way he was holding her…RK...a man who is every girl's dream was this close to her…she got goosebumps remembering those moments again. Madhu had not told anything to trish about her little meeting as she knew her sister is a crazy fan of RK probably she would irritate her asking millions of questions. Both were in their own world, they came out of their trance when taxi driver applied break on reaching their chawl. As they proceeded towards their home they noticed some noises coming from inside. They hurriedly open the door of the house and were shocked to see that balraj, their criminal father was back from jail and he and padmini were having a fight as usual. Suddenly he became violent and raised his hand to slap padmini when madhu stopped him in between.

Madhu (angrily)- papa, what are you doing??? Don't dare to touch my mumma.

Balraj (angrily pushed her aside)- how dare you talk to me like that…I am your father…and where you have been with your sister at this late hour???

Madhu (moved backward as she got a whiff of alcohol from balraj)- why do you care where were we??? You were not there to take care of us when we needed you then why you want to know now???

Balraj (once again moved towards padmini n caught her by her hair)- tell your ill mannered daughter nobody talks to me like that. (he made his grip tight on her hair making her scream with pain) actually you are responsible for all this…I always wanted a son but you gave me these two unlucky daughters n because of their bad luck only I am in this condition today.

Meanwhile trish ran and bring roma and few more chawl residents with her who after a little struggle succeeded in dragging balraj out of the house.

Roma (angrily)- how many times I have to tell you padmini….why you don't you just get rid of this man legally….just divorce him.

Trish (supporting roma's view)- exactly maa…why you let him come back in your life…your house everytime??

Padmini (brushing off the issue like always)- just let it be…how does it matter, he rarely comes here cause he either spent his time in jail or in drinking n gambling.

Madhu (not accepting defeat)- but then also mumma…why do you let him destroy our peaceful life…why don't you answer him back…why you don't leave him??

Padmini (putting her hand on madhu's shoulder to pacify her)- because I know if I will cut all ties with him…nobody will bother to know even he is dead or alive…and no matter how bad husband he is, the truth is that he is your father….he has given me the reason of my existence in the form of two lovely daughters…n this is enough reason for me to tolerate his nonsense.

Finally all accepted defeat and went to sleep as they knew however practical and logical their views are but they can't deter padmini from her decision.

NEXT DAY, ON THE SETS OF ONE OF RK'S FILM

RK was shooting for one film which he was doing with Sonia kapoor. The shot was ready. It was a romantic scene. As soon as the director said "action", RK started saying his dialogue- " tumne kabhi apni ankhen dekhi hai…ek ajeeb si kashish hai inme…jaise mujhe apni taraf kheech rahi hon (closed his eyes for a while and last night party's scene when he was holding madhu flashed before him. When he opened his eyes again he hallucinated madhu in place of sonia). "you don't know how much I want you madhu". Director shouted " cut it", RK came out from his trance.

Sonia (confused)- RK, sweetheart what are you doing?? My name is meera in this film not madhu.

RK (confused but didn't show it to others)- what meera….so what…I like madhu more….change the name…RK won't change his dialogue.

Director (pleading)- but sir we have already shoot some scenes with this name.

RK (giving deadly glare)- then shoot it again…but my decision is final…the name will be madhu from now onwards. (went to his vanity van leaving all of them confused as why all of a sudden he wanted to change the name but nobody dared to ask him)

ON THE AUDITONS OF AN UNNAMED FILM OF A BIG DIRECTOR

Trishna was too excited to give her audition for a big budget film of famous director named jai chopra. Although roma was accompanying her but she insisted madhu also to come with her for moral support. All the three went to the audition venue. As soon as trish entered the premises she started feeling nervous. When she saw many other beautiful girls sitting there n practicing their dialogue she felt more nervous. Roma tried her level best to pacify her n boost up her confidence. At last trishna's chance came and she proceeded in front of camera to say her dialogue. She started- " zindagi sabko ek hi chance deti hai…aur ye humare upar hai ki hum uss…(she suddenly forgot the dialogues and started stammering). The person behind the camera shouted "ye kya madam…acting karni nahi aati toh hamara time kharab karne kyu aa gaye…joa yahan se"

Roma (trying to convince him)- plz sir…give her one more chance…she is very good actress.

Madhu (pleading)- plz sir…my di is very good at acting…she is just nervous…plz one last chance.

That man finally agreed. "fine one last chance to this girl".

Trishna (feeling extremely nervous)- madhu, roma…I keep forgetting this dialogue.

Madhu (giving her confidence)- di, its very simple- listen carefully it goes like this - " zindagi sabko ek hi chance deti hai…aur ye humare upar hai ki hum uss mauke ko na gavaye..kya pata phir zindagi hum par meharbaan ho na ho" (she actually said it with all the expression to make it easier for trish to understand it completely)

Nobody noticed that while all this drama was going on camera was still rolling, it recorded all that happened there with trish. Finally trish gave her audition and came back with roma while madhu went to the sets of another film where she was currently working as make up artist.

RK'S VANITY VAN

RK was resting in his vanity van, thinking about the incidence where he took madhu's name. His eyes were closed while his hands were placed on the arm rest of chair. He wondered what happened to him few moments ago? Why he is thinking so much about that girl? He opened his eyes with jerk all of a sudden feeling frustrated and was shocked to see the same girl in front of him. He moved towards her but she moved back. she had those same fearful expression on her face which she had last night. RK said- "hey don't be afraid…you are madhu…right…how come you are here?...forget this…tell me what you were doing in my party….forget this…..tell me who are you and where do you live??" suddenly the knock at the door of van caught his attention he turned and found a spot boy who had came to inform him that the next shot was ready. RK turned again but that girl was not there anymore. A smile crept on his lips and scolded himself " RK control yourself and your imagination...at this rate you will become mad soon"

AFTER SOME DAYS,ON ONE EVENING, CHAWL

Madhu entered her house only to find that trish was crying uncontrollably and roma and padmini was consoling her. She immediately rushed to trish and asked her-

Madhu (worried)- what happened di?? Why are you crying??

Trish (crying)- woh…madhu…auditions….

Madhu (guessing the reason behind her sadness)- oh you are not selected

Trish (just nodded her head in denial while crying)

Roma (answering on her behalf)- no madhu that auditions means nothing now….the film for which it was organized has been cancelled.

Madhu (shocked)- what??? Film cancelled…but how can they do that???

Roma (giving annoyed look)- oh common….as if you know nothing about film industry….everyday several films are announced here but its not compulsory that all of them are completed and released in theatres. Some of them remain mere announcement or some of them remain incomplete due to several issues.

Madhu (putting her hand on trish's shoulder)- roma is right…shayad iss baar kismat tumhare saath nahi thi…but that does not mean that no more films will be made in bollywood…many more films will come and many more chances will also come for you….so just cheer up di.

Roma (supporting madhu's view)- she is right trish…many more auditions will be there…don't lose hope.

Finally after lots of persuasion they were successful in cheering up trishna's mood and convinced her that may be destiny was not with her this time…but little did they know destiny was playing its own game in which everyone was just a puppet of its hand and their lives were about to change drastically.

LATER THAT DAY, JAI CHOPRA'S OFFICE

Jai chopra, the famous young director, also RK's friend was sitting in his office watching the tapes of auditions which he organized for his film though that film was cancelled now but he was looking the tapes in hope of finding new talent whom he can use in his other ongoing films in some important roles. Right then RK came to his office.

RK (patting jai's back)- hey buddy….how are you??? What are you doing??

Jai (smiling)- nothing much…you tell me…aaj hamari yaad kaise aa gayi??

RK – you know I have announced a new film named "ek ishq ek junoon" of my production house so I would like you to be its director…what say???

Jai (raising his eyebrow)– does anybody ever say no to RK (smiled), off course I will do it.

RK – ok then…I want to introduce a new face in that film…so we will organize an audition for it very soon.

Jai (casually)- hey why don't you have a look at these tapes…actually I organized an audition for a film but later I decided to drop that idea …I was just going through these tapes so that if anybody is worth giving a chance I could use them in other films.

RK (nodding his head in approval)- ok…if you say so….lets have a look.

They saw many girls audition but were not impressed until now at last they came across trishna's audition. As soon as RK saw that video his eyes just stick to one person ie madhu. On the other hand jai was watching it with confusion.

Jai (frowning)- looks like camera man forget to stop recording while this girl's relatives were cheering her up.

RK (smiling in trance)- yeah…and I am grateful to him for this…or else how could I find her.

Jai (confused)- what?? Find whom??

RK (lost in madhu's thoughts)- heroine of my film.

Jai (surprised)- what!!! This girl….whats her name (rewind the tape to check her name) ya…trishna…oh common RK…look at her…she is low on confidence…can't say just a simple dialogue.

RK (moved closer to the screen and paused the video)- I am not talking about this girl (pointing at trishna), I am talking about her (pointing at madhu)

Jai – but this girl is just trishna's relative…she has not come to give auditions.

RK, who was already blown away by madhu's beauty was also impressed now with her dialogue delivery and acting. The little dialogue which she said to help trishna was enough for RK to recognize the hidden potential of acting in madhu. He had already made his mind that now only madhu will be his heroine. And once RK made a decision, it was nearly impossible to change it. So he said with determination to confused looking jai- " I have made my decision jai…you trust my judgment na?? people don't call me star maker just like that…I know this girl will become a big star one day. Only she will be my heroine.

Jai (accepted defeat as he knew any argument with RK will be waste of time as nobody dares to open his mouth against him)- ok fine…if you feel so RK…i will contact this girl.

RK smiled looking at paused video once again and said "there is some connection between us…aakhir kismat ne hume phir se milwa hi diya".
