Hej!
I think this topic can be relevant here as it is a forum from the subcontinent!
Earlier the Microcredit, and now the Social Business concept is creating lots of excitement not only in Europe but around the world! It seems that this is not just for the poor, but also for developed countries as well.
So what do you think or understand about Social Business and Microcredit?
The Founder, Professor Mohammad Yunus of Bangladesh is hailed in his country and many across America and Europe (as well as in Poland ofcourse) as a Hero, or maybe rather as a cute elderly modern day Santa Clause!! 😊. Personally I had the opportunity to meet this nice, humble and thrilling person in Warsaw University, on a Social Business Forum held in Poland.
Microcredit has helped Poland, and as well as many countries across Europe and America, while Social business is changing lives of not only the communities but people who got weary of a money making rat race but were fearful of loosing even simplest livelyhood if they went the other way into social welfare.
Here is a very informative video of a Forum in NUS Business School, Singapore, on Social Business:

Here is a debate on Microcredit as a means to try and solve some of the problems of the poor (usually rural women) who have no access to loans as they cannot show a collateral. The one who is speaking in favor is Susan Davis, founder and chair of the Grameen Foundation (with an even broader profile of active participation against social problems). The one who questions the idea is Vandana Shiva, a... philoshopher and feminist (she attends talk shows and seminars on global issues).
By the way, I remain very excited about the news of a Hollywood movie being made over Mohammad Yunus "Banker to the poor", with an Indian actor named Irfan Khan playing the lead character, i.e. Yunus.
